When hit me up to make a 24”x16” cutting board for him I was a little worried how I was going to pull it off. I didn’t have a planer or drum sander that could handle that size board and I had never put a juice groove/juice-cuzzi in a cutting board, but I went for it anyways.

During the process I made a rookie mistake and text him that I had to start over because I didn’t want to deliver a marred product. He insisted I take my time to fix it because he loved the overall look of the board so much.

After a little time at YouTube University I attempted an inlay to fix the issue and It came out better than I had hoped.

Moral of the story is to not let potential roadblocks stop you from getting s**t done. There is almost always a solution, find it, and keep moving forward because imperfections can be beautiful too.

Furniture butter soak on this walnut floating shelf. This surfboard was a beast. I’m learning how much I love hand planes and hand tools through this process. I hope to have a few more tools in my arsenal on the next one and definitely have a few things I’m going to try differently. Coffee table version coming up next 😍
