After... Table transformation using faux wood look technique on a badly damaged veneer table.

This client table was quite the challenge. She wanted the base painted Mediterranean blue like we did the China hutch and her buffet. That was the easy part. She was not going to have the top redone. However, once I received it in house, I messaged her and I said are you sure you don't want this top refinished. This top is really bad. She decided to go for it but I did tell her that I wasn't sure what we would find under the bad paint job that was on the piece when she purchased it. I went ahead and stripped the piece and lo and behold as you can see by photos, there was a giant burn mark. So after stripping we went ahead and removed that with mineral spirits and then did some sanding. This table had veneers so the most I could try after sanding (you can only go so deep with veneer) was to bleach the area with peroxide first. When that didn't work, I tried lifting the stain with bleach. I neutralized it with vinegar. I tried using a water based stain at first and no matter what I did even trying to hand brush it in, this dark burn spot was not going to go. So on to plan B with a faux grain paint. I used my graining tool to add texture and dimension. And it looks like a beautiful highlighted wood grain table on completion. What do you think?
