I am excited about providing you with education about ways to achieve optimal health, vitality, and
Remember to stay cool during this hot summer weather. Here are a few things you can do to help you stay cool and safe:
1. Stay well hydrated especially when working outdoors. Best sources of hydration are pure water with a few crystals of pink Himalayan or Celtic grey salt added for minerals and fresh fruits especially melons.
2. Avoid processed sugary drinks
3. Use cool packs on your head, neck, or back from time to time if working in a hot environment.
4. Take breaks, but avoid going from a hot setting into an air conditioner setting. It is not healthy for your body. Transition from one area to the next gradually.
5. Fans can make a difference in keeping the area comfortable
6. A tepid or a cool shower can help cool down your body.
Hope these tips help you stay cool and comfortable during these brutal temperatures.
Stay cool,

Things You Can Do to Have Beautiful, Healthy Looking Hair:
Is your hair dull, dry, and brittle? Have you noticed more hair on your brush, the counter, or on the floor than on your head? Don't worry, you are not alone. There are many men and women who wish their hair was full, shiny, and bouncy like it used to be at some point in their life, but somehow now it has lost its pizazz. You have probably heard that it is natural for hair to lose its beauty as a person gets older, but that could not be further from the truth.
Caring for the hair follows most of the same principles as caring for the body. Most people are born with healthy and strong looking hair, but unfortunately, years of exposure to a harsh environment and having an unhealthy lifestyle can wreak havoc on your hair until one day it is not as shiny and lively as it used to be.
So, what can you do about your hair? Here are a few tips to get you started:
1. Eat a colorful well balanced diet high in vitamins and minerals, especially foods high in vitamin C which helps boost collagen production, omega 3s (healthy fats), complex carbohydrates, and clean protein. Some of the best foods are:
Green leafy vegetables
Citrus fruits
Deep colored fruits and veggies
All berries, especially blueberries
Orange and yellow fruits and veggies
Raw, unsalted seeds and nuts
Whole grains (cooked well)
Avocado
Legumes
High quality extra virgin olive oil
2. Avoid Using Heated Styling Tools As Much as Possible.
Using heated styling tools on high temperature on a regular basis can damage the hair cuticle causing splits. Heated tools can also damage the majority of your hair's keratin proteins resulting in brittle, dull, dry hair. If you must use a heated styling tool do the following:
A. Apply a chemical free, sulfate free heat protectant gel or spray before using
B. Do not use heated tools on wet hair
C. Keep heat below 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
D. Nourish your hair with a natural hair mask once a week
E. Definitely decrease how often you use the heated tools
3. Hair is Most Vulnerable When Wet. Do not comb or brush your hair when it is still wet. Wait until your hair is completely dry before styling. Also, use a wide comb and a brush made of natural bristles to prevent breakage.
4. Stay Away From Toxic Ingredients. Read the ingredients of the product bottle carefully. These chemicals are used to "soften" hair, create a lather, and as preservatives. They are also known to disrupt hormones resulting in many health problems and over time damage the health of your hair. The following toxic ingredients are the most commonly used on many of the hair products found in the regular stores, but this is not a complete list:
Alcohols
Coal tar
Parabens
Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates
Formaldehyde
Dimethicone
Synthetic fragrances
Phthalates
Chemical dyes
5. Do The Following to Improve the Health of Your Hair:
A. Scalp massage twice a day to help increase blood flow
B. Nourish your hair with a natural hair mask once or twice a week
C. Use silk pillowcases. They are soft on your hair and minimize breakage
D. Avoid a diet high in processed sodium (high salt), and junk foods.
E. Add a couple of drops of a quality Rosemary Essential Oil to your shampoo or conditioner when washing your hair. Do NOT over do it. One - two drops will suffice.
F. Follow the steps mentioned above
G. Be Consistence and Patient
These tips should help you get started on the road to a head of beautiful, healthy looking hair and to a healthier you.
Best of health

"Whether the underlying cause of your dependency is a chemical imbalance, unresolved events from the past, beliefs you hold that are inconsistent with what is true, an inability to cope with current conditions, or a combination of these four causes, know this: not only are all the causes of dependency within you, but all the solutions are within you as well."

Did you know that there is a strong connection between your oral health and your general well being?
Poor oral health has been linked to the developing of certain health problems some of which include symptoms of malaise, not feeling good, achy joints, heart palpitations, headaches, memory lapse, lung problems, stroke, gastrointestinal problems, problems with pregnancy and even colorectal cancer just to name a few.
On a more local level, poor oral hygiene can cause bleeding of the gums, cavities, and other infections due to the rapid growth of bacteria which can also travel to other parts of the body causing disease. Most people donât realize how quickly bacteria can grow in the mouth by simply not flossing and brushing after a meal.
Everyoneâs oral constitution is not the same. Genes and how your oral hygiene habits were at an earlier age play a big factor. Some people can get away without paying too close attention to their mouth for a while before they start to have dentition problems, but others canât go a day without flossing or brushing before they start having bleeding of the gums or oral pain. If you have children, please educate them on being religious about taking good care of their teeth and you as an adult take time to floss and brush your teeth right after each meal if at all possible. If you are not able to brush your teeth at the time, one thing you can do after your meal is to rinse your mouth with water a couple of times and brush when you are able to.
Yearly visits to a reputable and preferably biological dentist with doing a dental cleaning twice a year will help you maintain a healthy mouth. A biological dentist is another name for a dentist who does natural dentistry. If you do not have a natural dentist in your area, please find one who is open to natural alternatives in his or her practice. If you have to drive a bit of a distance, it will be well worth it.
The following things will help you avoid cavities as much as possible, possibly other oral health conditions, and save you a lot of money and grief in the long run:
1. Limit the amount of processed sugar
2. Avoid or limit the amount of sodas (sugar, sugar)
3. Avoid eating hard and chewy candies
4. Avoid frequent snacking and sipping. Use a straw.
5. Brush with a quality electric toothbrush for two minutes, but do not brush hard.
6. Floss after every meal
7. Visit your dental hygienist twice a year
8. If you canât brush at the moment, rinse your mouth with water
9. Floss AND brush after every meal
10. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables every day. Give your teeth a workout.
11. Oil pulling three times a week does wonders to help maintain oral health and it can help manage certain oral conditions.
12. For your oral hygiene use natural products free of chemicals and additives. Remember, if you canât eat it, donât use it.
13. Never go to bed without brushing your teeth.

Did you know that pure maple syrup and unsulphured blackstrap molasses are healthy for you?
Pure maple syrup is sweet and delicious. Maple syrup is extracted from the bark of the maple tree and others of its kind. It contains a high amount of minerals which are essential to grow healthy bones and 33% of your daily amount of manganese. Side note: the seeds in bell peppers are also high in manganese, so please do not throw them away. Eat them or blend them in a smoothie. Pure maple syrup has zinc, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, riboflavin, calcium, and iron. Beside of its high mineral content, pure maple syrup is rich in antioxidants. and helps fight free radicals.
Unsulphured or unsulfured (either way is the same) blackstrap molasses also contain high nutritional value. They are high in vitamin and minerals, one tablespoon has approximately 20% of your the daily iron. It is also high in potassium, calcium, and magnesium, manganese, selenium, and B6 vitamin. Unsulphured blackstrap molasses is known to prevent low blood count (anemia), strengthen hair, promote bone health, stabilize blood sugar, ease PMS symptoms, promote skin health, and much more.
As I always say, ALL in moderation, practicing temperance. The pure maple syrup, molasses, and the raw unfiltered honey are wonderful products that we can use in moderation and wisely as part of our health regimen and add some sweetness to your life.

Dr. Wells

Did you know that cooked leftover rice, if not stored properly can begin to grow mold quickly not necessarily visual to the naked eye?
It is best to store the leftover cooked rice in the freezer in a glass container or BPA free container until ready to be consumed again. There is no problem in eating the rice the same day it was cooked, but the risk comes from eating yesterday's rice that has been stored in the refrigerator from one day to the next. Keep this in mind when you go out to eat as well. Ask your server if the rice is fresh or yesterday's leftovers. Hope you get an honest answer.
You want to avoid the ingestion of mold as much as possible because it puts you at risk for the developing of multiple health problems. There are other foods that we should avoid eating because they carry mold in them. I spoke about this in more detail in the Monday's morning workout newsletter. If you are interested on expanding your knowledge about the different topics we discuss during our three days a week morning workouts send me your email and I will add you to the list of recipients.
Remember, we come together to workout on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays via Zoom at 6:30 am Central Time Zone for one hour. If you would like to join the group, send me your email and I will add you to the list. This is a FREE service I offer to my clients and anyone interested in wanting to improve their health. You do not follow anyone's workout, you do your own workout routine in your own space. All you have to do is click on the zoom link and join us while we are doing our own individual workout and talk about mind stimulating topics.
Hope to hear from you.

Make this new year, 2023 a NEW START for optimizing your health goals. This should be at the top of your new year's list of resolutions. Remember, good health means you get to have more energy, enjoy life more, be happier, and have more money in your pocket.
N - Proper NUTRITION. Commit yourself to eat a wide variety of fruits, veggies, and whole grain foods. Maybe start by adding three organic fresh carrots a day. As time progress, you can add more plant based foods into your diet.
E - Make time to EXERCISE regularly. If you are not used to exercising, begin by working out 30 minutes three times a week and increase your routine until you are exercising one hour five-six days a week. If you need motivation, you can join my FREE of charge workout support group on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:30 AM Central Time via ZOOM. For more information you can call me or send me a text.
W - proper hydration is very important. Drink WATER everyday according to your weight. Most people live in a chronically dehydrated state. The right amount of water is based on half your weight in ounces.
S - SUNSHINE is life and energy. Through vitamin D the body is able to use and assimilate all other minerals including calcium to keep healthy bones and a strong immune system. People with a light skin complexion should sunbathe 15 minutes everyday, medium dark skin - 30 minutes, and very dark skin about 45 minutes. Do NOT burn.
T - We must practice temperance in all we do. Avoid overeating, overworking, or over doing anything that will be detrimental to your health.
A - Fresh, pure AIR revitalizes the tissues and helps eliminate toxic waste from the body through the lungs. Combined with exercise, it is the best way to oxygenate your cells reducing the risk for disease.
R - Adequate REST/SLEEP is important because this is the time when the body literally regenerates itself. Aim to go to bed no later than 10:00 pm at night and get 7-8 hours of sleep. This is non-negotiable.
T - Trust in God. Take time to meditate daily on all the blessings and opportunities God has given you. Studies have shown that people who have a faith support system and are thankful tend to live longer, are much happier, less fearful of the world that surrounds them, and able to cope better when a crisis arises in their life.
Remember, this year 2023 make a decision to be courageous, intentional, persistent, determined, and patient to do everything in your power to achieve your best health ever!!

Do you suffer from brain fog?
Do you feel run down and tired all the time?
Do you feel bloated after a meal?
Do you suffer from abdominal or gastrointestinal issues?
Are you suffering from mood swings?
Do you suffer from intermittent skin rashes or skin allergies?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have what is known as dysbiosis of the gut. It means an imbalance of the microbes in your gut. When this happens, you are at risk for many health issues including the ones mentioned above. Hipocrates, the father of medicine said, "All diseases begin in the gut."

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your entire body?
The skin has little tiny mouths called pores through which it absorbs everything you put on and it gets rid of toxic waste.
We need to be mindful about the type of products we use on our skin. Unfortunately, many products are made with toxic chemicals that can lead to neurologic conditions, birth defects, hormonal imbalance, and many other health problems including cancer. The chemicals you should familiarize yourself with are: parabens, phthalates, sulfates, parfums, fragrance, mineral oils, aluminum, coal tar dyes, Butylated Hydroxytoluene, alcohol, oxybenzone, and talc.
According to the Environmental Working Group (EGW) we should avoid using products containing these chemicals:
1. "Formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.
2. Paraformaldehyde, a type of formaldehyde.
3. Methylene glycol, a type of formaldehyde.
4. Quaternium 15, which releases formaldehyde.
5. Mercury, which can damage the kidneys and nervous system.
6. Dibutyl and diethylhexyl phthalates, which disrupt hormones and damage the reproductive system.
7. Isobutyl and isopropyl parabens, which disrupt hormones and harm the reproductive system.
8.The long-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances known as PFAS, which have been linked to cancer.
9. M- and o-phenylenediamine, usedin hair dyes, which irritate and sensitize the skin, damage DNA and can cause cancer." (The Toxic Twelve Chemicals and Contaminants in Cosmetics, www.ewg.com)
Look for products made from clean and natural sources. Remember, if you can't pronounce it and if you can't eat it, you should not apply it to your skin.

Dr. Wells

We have some exciting news and would like to extend you an invitation to be a part of a project we are doing for our clients.
We have decided to create a workout support group in which you get to join three times a week via Zoom. You can exercise with us and participate in our exciting discussions right from your own workout space no matter your location.
During this time of the year it is hard to get up in the morning and get our bodies moving, but we must make the effort to stay on track to reach our health goals. Sometimes we need a little bit of motivation, this is why we are coming together to encourage and cheer each other to better health.
Join me and others on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:30 AM CST for one hour via Zoom. We will begin meeting on Wednesday, November 23rd. Video can be off with the microphone on so we can talk about the topic of choice for that day. You decide where you want to workout, indoors or outdoors. You decide which workout you want to do, weight training, cardio, stretching, etc. Also, you will decide how long you will be able to stay for the workout. I prefer to enjoy your company for the full hour, but understand that sometimes there will be commitments you must attend to and must leave the session a bit early. All I ask is that you be honest with yourself and do the best you can. If you are not used to exercising, please do not overdo it. Start slow and build up to it. A power walk is an excellent way to get you started. We are not here to judge, but to uplift each other.
This is for all of us and is FREE. You pay nothing, but will gain much in regards to your health and lose nothing but maybe unwanted pounds. So how about it? Feel free to invite people in your circle to join and be a part of this amazing journey. Private message me with your email if you would like to participate. There is no obligation to join the workout group. The link will be sent and be available to you should you decide to join that morning.
I will email you the link to join via Zoom the morning of the workout. Remember to watch for the time zone. Hope to see you there!!
Best of Health,
Dr. Carroll Wells, ND
Disclaimer: The following information is meant for informational purposes only. It is general in nature and is not intended to treat or diagnose any medical condition or be a medical advice.
It's that time of the year when more than likely we will be exposed to all kinds of bugs and viruses. It is important to strengthen your immune system so that your body can stay strong during this fall/winter season. Here is a list of things you can add to your daily lifestyle to support your immune system:
1. Drink water based on your body weight. (See my previous posts)
2. Avoid going to bed past 10:00 PM and get eight hours of sleep at night.
3. Get 15-20 minutes of sunlight early in the morning or late in the evening. You can also supplement with Vitamin D3 + K2 5,000-10,000 IU every day for seven days.
4. Eat fruits and veggies high in vitamin C. You can also supplement by taking 1,500 mg vitamin C three - four times a day as tolerated.
5. Eat foods high in zinc such as legumes (beans), whole grain, Shiitake mushrooms, kale, spinach, avocados, all berries, pomegranates, apricots, melons, kiwi, pineapple, dates, asparagus, broccoli, okra, and many more. You can also supplement with a "whole" zinc supplement by taking 15-30 mg a day.
6. Exercise to get your heart pumping. A power walk is great especially outdoors.
7. Take in fresh pure air every day. Take in a deep breath to expand your lungs and exhale (breath out) slowly counting until 10. Do this 10 times three times a day if at all possible and somewhere away from polluted air or heavy traffic.
