Orders placed after 2:00 pm, on Tuesdays, will be fulfilled first-come, first-serve, while supplies last. Most deliveries will be performed between 3:00pm and 6:00pm.

Schmidtke's Breads and Jams uses 2 very different sourdough starters (also known as "mothers"). Our (1700's) grandmother is over 220 years old, tracing back to the 1790's in New England. Our young (Texas Wild) mother is about 2 years old, cultured by Lori, from native Texan airborne yeast.

These 2 mothers produce two very unique sourdough flavors.
The Texas Wild starter is Lori's favorite, and is the one currently being used by Schmidtke's Breads & Jams (these "mothers" are very high maintenance). Interested in more? Read about the gentleman who takes care of 125 mothers, some dating back to BC!
