Breathing is so powerful, many patients I see have posterior pelvic floor tightness and it can affect the position of their leg and pelvis.

We were able to improve the patients range of motion with her toe touch just after doing a few minutes of breathing to open up the back of pelvic floor.

Now these changes won’t stay unless we continue to focus on pelvic mobility through breathing and dynamic movements.

But it’s awesome to see a change so quickly after just breathing.

Please reach out if you have questions about pelvic floor issues, prenatal/postpartum care or just want to start feeling strong bad confident in your body💪💪💪

I started my own Pelvic Floor PT business because women I feel are not getting the care they deserve. The pelvic floor is such an important region to focus on and yet it gets pushed aside and forgotten by many healthcare providers.

So many women are settling for living their lives with pelvic floor issues and other aches and pains because they don’t know the help that is available to them.

I have found giving women the 1 on 1 attention they need will help not only improve their symptoms, educate them on healthy lifestyle changes but also build the confidence that they deserve.

So seek the care you deserve, reach out to me if you are ready to start putting yourself first!

Hello Followers,

I thought this would be a great time to reintroduce myself, my name is Rachel and I am an orthopedic specialist and pelvic floor physical therapist. I have a passion for helping pregnant, postpartum or women of any age move pain free and feel strong.

Gone are the days of living with pelvic pain, leaking, back/hip pain and feeling weak. There is no reason why you can’t want more for yourself and it all starts with moving better.

I have had my struggles postpartum and I didn’t want to give in and give up the things that bring me joy. So I dove into the women’s health world and never looked back. I use my skills to assess the pelvic floor and focus on a full body approach to help you back to feeling stronger and more confident.

I truly love what I do and I am excited to help other women on their journey to better their lives and improve their pelvic health!

Thank you for being here, I appreciate every one of you.

Rachel Collins 😊

Breathing is powerful and really should be incorporated everyday. Now this hip hike is not FIXED for good in one day but it just shows the changes we can make quickly by focusing on our breath to help gain mobility in other areas.

By doing breath work before your workout routine can help set up for success by placing your body in a better position to help reduce compensation during exercises.

I love helping fellow women learn about their bodies and move in way that will help them gain strength and confidence!

Reach out to me if you are looking for a pelvic health and orthopedic specialist physical therapist to help get you moving better, feeling stronger and living pain free!

A message from a pelvic health specialist: stop doing kegels as an exercise for your leaking issue thinking it’s making your pelvic floor stronger.

A majority of women have hypertonic/ tight pelvic floor muscles and doing a kegel exercise will only make this worse.

We want to treat the pelvic floor muscles like any other muscle and we need to have mobility in order to build strength.

Performing exercises like:

🟡 360 breathing: helps focus on diaphragm and pelvic floor movement

🟡 Deadlifts: helps open up the posterior pelvic floor

🟡 Split stance hinges : helps to improve pelvis rotation which works the pelvic floor throughout its range

🟡 Squats: helps work pelvic floor in different ranges epically when adding in focus on breath

🟡 Lateral lunges: helps with hip shifting which focuses on lengthening more posterior pelvic floor

There are so many more exercises like these that will actually move your pelvic floor throughout its range which help you build strength.

So please stop doing 100 kegels a day thinking you are strengthening your pelvic floor muscles, I promise you get more results performing more full body movements.

Sometimes my patients ask me about the questions I put on my intake forms and how it relates to pelvic floor function.

These are just a few of questions that I like to ask to better understand what is going on and how pelvic floor therapy can help.

A happy pelvic floor means a happy life!

Happy New Year! I look back on 2023 and I am grateful for all the growth that I have made both in my business and my personal life.

⭐️ making time for myself
⭐️ more adventures with my family
⭐️ making lasting memories
⭐️ building on friendships

Repeat it until it sinks in, you can always heal. I get very sad and angry when I talk to postpartum moms who were told that they just have to live with their pelvic pain, leaking, abdominal pain, feelings of pressure or issues with in*******se.

Our bodies are resilient and they are capable of healing, getting stronger and adaptable to changes that occur.

No one should have to except feeling weak or insecure of their bodies. You can love your life how you want and do the things you love!

So please don’t ever feel like this is as good as it’s going to get because it’s not true. If you want better for yourself their is help out there.

I encourage anyone who is dealing with pelvic floor issues or feeling lost after having a baby to get back to the like they want to reach out to a pelvic health specialist.

We had such passion for this work and our goal is to help you love yourself!

That’s right you don’t have to wait till that 6 week check up to do some exerciseThere’s great research out there to support early movement to help improve coordination of your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles to help with healing and pressure management. You can start focusing on good 360 breathing day 1 post baby and with the guidance from a pelvic health specialist you can perform safe posture and muscle activation exercises to help improve healing and reduce pain.

You are already moving around your home, carrying your baby and getting up and down from the floor prior to seeing your doctor, so why not perform low stress exercises to help get your body moving in the right direction. This can help you manage pressure in the pelvic floor to reduce prolapse and improve muscle coordination to improve strength to reduce acute pain and chronic issues later on.

So do yourself a favor and get your body on the right track postpartum by getting an evaluation from a pelvic health specialist before your 6 week check up to help start you on a program to set you up for success and keep you moving pain free!

*As always everybody's case is different and you should make sure to clear it with your doctor or healthcare provider before starting early exercise.*

When can I run after having a baby? This a question a lot of women ask and it’s a good question. Everybody is different so there is no straight answer but I have found that there are ways you can test your body to see if it can handle the stress of running.
Try these exercises:
⭐️plank for 1 min
⭐️balance on one leg for 30sec
⭐️single leg hops for 30sec

If you can perform these movements without pain, leaking, feelings of pressure or heaviness and maintaining good form then you should be good to start running.

I highly encourage all postpartum moms to see a pelvic floor therapist before returning to activities like running.

I didn’t after my first child and I was dumb enough to think I was ready after my 6 week check up….boy was I wrong.

I gave myself a lot of pain and issues that I had to work on because I didn’t listen to my body.

So please be better than me and see a women’s health specialist to help you achieve your goals with no pelvic floor symptoms.

I offer virtual and in person services so reach out to me for a free consult to see if I can help you!

I have heard too many women talk about having pelvic floor issues for years because they thought it was just normal to live like this. You deserve better and there is help out there so you don’t have to be in pain or deal with leaking.

Pelvic floor therapy can help improve pelvic muscle function while also focusing on the whole person to help them reach their goals.

My favorite part of being a pelvic floor therapist is educating women on their bodies and how they function.

So please take advantage of the resources around you, either in person or virtual services. You don’t have to live with pain or leaking, you can and will get better with the right guidance.

I offer complimentary consults to discuss your issues and give a plan that I think will help and if I can’t help I will be able to guide you to someone who can. My number one goal is to help women in any way I can because we deserve the best care available!

So contact me for your free consult today!

When you think about it, most people go to the doctor for an annual check up without having a reason to go besides making sure their body is functioning properly. They also plan to see a dentist for a routine cleaning without having any teeth or gum issues, they just want to maintain a healthy mouth. So why wouldn’t we want the same for our muscles and physical health?

I love when I see patients that are being preventative in their care, we are able to spend time focusing on areas of their body or movements that they are doing that could potentially cause an issue down the road. I might see them for 1-2 visits just to give education on better movement patterns and tips on general health to keep them moving and doing what they love.

It’s great to build a relationship with your physical therapist. Think about how easy it would be that you have a healthcare professional that you are already comfortable with so if you ever need them because of an injury they already know all about you.

So start thinking about using PTs for preventative or maintenance care, it will help you stay strong, reduce risk of injuries, build a strong relationship and me for a lifelong friend!

Daily pelvic floor tips:
1. Walking is a great way to move your body and help stay mobile which is very important for pelvic health. This can help improve blood flow and increase proper pelvic floor activation and mobility.

2. Staying hydrated is always important but drinking water is a great way to help maintain a good ph level in your urine to help reduce bladder irritation. Also making sure our pelvic muscles are hydrated will help keep them mobile and decrease tension. They say to drink half your body weight in ounces everyday.

3. Deep breathing/360 breathing: I can’t say enough how important it is to learn how to breathe into your belly, sides, back and pelvic floor. This really helps set up good coordination of your core and pelvic floor and is great for our nervous system to help tap into that restful state. I work on breathing everyday and it has made such a difference in my pelvic and mental health.
