I am proud of my democratic colleague, Rep. Rachel Talbot Ross, for introducing this piece of legislation. This is a step in the right direction towards supporting Maine's disadvantaged racial and ethnic groups!
Thank you Yarmouth, Chebeague, and Long Island voters for your support. It is now my turn to support you.
Please vote for me, Art Bell, for State Representative of Yarmouth, Chebeague and Long Island. We must do better!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat over the last few days! It was great to hear more about the issues that matter most to the people of Yarmouth, Chebeague, and Long Island. I look forward to representing each of you in Augusta!

A message from Art on why we must do more!
I am happy to share my responses to the Maine Conservation Voter Action Fund survey, below!
I believe that the "climate change" crisis that our planet is facing is the #1 issue for everyone on Earth. I would love to serve on the "Environmental & Natural Resources" committee and/or the "Energy, Utilities and Technology" to bring my voice, and the voice of the youth, to bear on these issues.

Maine Conservation Voters I have enjoyed serving my community of Yarmouth over the past 24 years. I believe my experience, my time and my energy can enable me to bring my voice to Augusta to represent Yarmouth, Chebeague and Long Island.
Hello Yarmouth, Chebeague, and Long Island! I am running to be your state representative in Augusta. I have lived on Cousins Island for 24 years and love the town of Yarmouth. I have heard the needs of the community and have the passion, the commitment to represent you at the State House.
I care about what is important to the people of Yarmouth. My door is open...
- Environment: I fully support Gov. Mill's energy & environmental agendas; and I want to empower the next generation to take a leadership role.
- Education: We must provide our youth with the skills needed to succeed in the future economy.
- Aging Population: We need to allow our elders to mature affordably and provide opportunities for them to contribute to our community.
- Property Taxes: I will work to broaden our tax base by attracting businesses to Yarmouth.
Home | Artbell I have served the Yarmouth community at the local level in many ways over the past 24 years, and now I want to take the natural next step and continue my service to Yarmouth, Chebeague & Long Island at the state level.
I was grateful for the opportunity to safely cast my ballot along with my family yesterday afternoon!

It's an honor to be endorsed alongside Cathy Breen for State Senate and Heather Abbott...
"For six years, Cathy Breen has fought for property tax relief, pay equity, environmental protections and expanding access to reproductive health care. She oversees the state budget as the chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.
Art Bell has served in numerous community organizations, including the school committee, YCAN and the Senior Housing Board, receiving Yarmouth’s 2017 Latchstring Award for his longtime service.
Heather Abbott has been a Yarmouth Community Network administrator and is the chair of Yarmouth’s Committee for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability. These candidates are the most qualified to serve our town and will fight to protect the environment, support education, implement fair taxes and promote human rights, including reproductive rights. Please vote for Cathy Breen, Art Bell and Heather Abbott."

Call Neighbors for Art! Make calls to voters to introduce Art, why he's running, and encourage people to vote for him! In any other year, Art would be out knocking on doors asking for voters' support. For everyone's safety given the pandemic, he is making calls instead. But he can't do it all alone... help him reach all Ya...

What a fantastic event last night. After 13th organizers put together a conversation related to legislative criminal justice reform bills currently in committee and restorative justice practices in Maine. This is such an important conversation and thought-provoking.
A huge thanks to the panelists:
Representative Charlotte M. Warren (Hallowell, Manchester, West Gardiner), House Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee;
Ryun Anderson, Executive Director of Restorative Justice Institute of Maine.

The effort to fast-track the appointment of a Supreme Court justice to replace reproductive rights champion RBG just weeks before the election is alarming. The addition of another conservative justice is a direct threat to reproductive rights nationally.
Be assured, if elected to the Maine State Legislature, I will work hard to protect a woman's right to choose in the state of Maine.
I am proud to be have the support of Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund. Their work is as important now as ever.

The museum is open again! Pay a visit, or check out the website and try one of the free downloadable walking tours of Yarmouth. A delightful way to enjoy a fall afternoon, if I do say so myself. https://www.yarmouthmehistory.org/walking-tours/
So much fun sharing the (virtual) stage with SARA GIDEON last night to speak with local Dems. I'm more convinced than ever that we must make this woman a U.S. Senator. Thank you to the Yarmouth Democratic Committee for hosting. Onward to November 3!
This woman truly lived an incredible life. A humble and understated trailblazer. A sharp wit and keen intellect. An unshakable moral compass and commitment to justice. I hope her replacement will be selected with that in mind.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Champion Of Gender Equality, Dies At 87 Ginsburg, the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court, died from complications from cancer. Her death will set in motion what promises to be a tumultuous political battle over who will succeed her.
Impressive stuff: volunteers on Chebeague have developed a COVID-19 testing program for the Island's residents. I hope this can be a model for others. Congratulations to team that made this happen!
UPDATE- COVID testing Chebeague • 7/28/20 This is an update to Chebeague's COVID testing program
A good piece on the contrast between my opponent and I. I'm in full support of the Governor's economic recovery plan, and making good on our responsibility to tackle global climate change. We must do more!
Yarmouth residents square off for state House District 47 seat Republican Anne Fleming and Democrat Art Bell are competing for the seat currently occupied by Janice Cooper.
My "mission statement" as to why I'm running to represent Yarmouth, Chebeague and Long Island in the Maine State Legislature:
Many of you already know me, but for those who don't: I moved to Yarmouth 24 years ago with my wife Robin and three children Chris, Geoff and Becca. It was the best decision we ever made. Yarmouth has been the ideal community for raising a family and for providing meaningful life experiences for all of us.
Over the years, my life has been enriched through my service to my community, including in the following ways:
-As a two-term member of the Yarmouth School Board;
-As a volunteer with the Yarmouth Schools, and on public policy forums and entrepreneurial teams;
-As a coach of Little League and Colts soccer teams, and serving on their respective Boards;
-As a Sunday School Teacher and Confirmation candidate mentor at First Parish Church;
-As a Merrill Library Trustee, helping raise money for upkeep and renovations;
-As a member of the Yarmouth Senior Housing board, where we renovated the Community Building and built the Bartlett Woods facility;
-As a Treasurer of YCAN (Yarmouth Cares About Neighbors);
-As a member of the Yarmouth Historical Society;
-As a member of the Royal River Alliance, where we've helped to restore the health of the Royal River watershed.
In 2017 I was truly humbled to receive Yarmoth's annual Latchstring Award.
In short, I care about this community, which is why I'm asking for your vote to represent Yarmouth in Augusta. Before you cast your vote on November 3, I hope you'll take the time to see where I stand on the issues. To find out more:

I love exploring Casco Bay. Besides living on Cousins, I've had the chance to show the islands to many others as a bike tour guide. And of course, family trips! This one is from Peaks, summer 2019.
What's your favorite part of Casco Bay?
