It took me a while to get back in the groove, but I think they came out looking good.
After a long hot summer, I’m finally back in the studio about to paint some lures.
Great catch by Michael Shavers with An IslandWalker “Cliff”.
Delivered some custom IslandWalkers to a happy customer yesterday.

Ott’s Garage | How To Tie A Braided Line Split Ring This is a tip that I’ve used a lot over the years. It helps keep the fish from having leverage and throwing the bait. It also makes the bait more silent. Thi...
Been a bit hot to paint in the studio. Thought I’d share a tip with you today. I’ve recently heard several fisherman, that I follow on social media, talk about replacing their split rings with braid. Supposedly, it allows the hooks to twist freely with the fish,so that they don’t get leverage and throw the hooks. I decided to do this on several of my topwater lures last night. I’ll keep you posted on my experience with them. Here is a quick video showing you what they look like on a “Lucy” IslandWalker. I’m also posting a how to tie video in the next post. Tight lines!
Difference between an IslandWalker and a spook jr. style walking bait.
Pearl hanging with a bunch of Cliffs. Just wanted you to see the difference between them.
It’s only right that I name a lure after my late father. He was the first person to ever take me fishing. I remember many Saturday mornings waking up before daylight to the smell of coffee brewing. Then we’d pack up the fishing gear and head down the road in his truck listening to classic country music. On the way to Snowden’s pond, we would stop at a gas station that had crickets, red wigglers and honeybuns. We’d launch the skiff, and fish all morning to the sounds of the Red-winged Blackbirds. Later when I finished high school, my parents built a house at Lake Village at Windance. We lived just a few houses away from the Lake. I’d come home for the weekends often, and we’d would spend countless hours fishing the lake. So, this one’s for you dad. Thanks for sharing your love of the outdoors with me.
Making some OG IslandWalkers in the shop today.
Latest edition to the IslandWalkers. I’ll be dropping the name soon. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported Ladner Lures so far. It’s because of you that I am driven to get in the shop and crank out new editions to the IslandWalker line on a weekly basis. Thanks so much.
So I had someone respond to a post, where I had caught a speckled trout on IslandWalker “Lucy” saying that he didn’t believe that I had caught the fish with the lure. It hurt my feelings at first, but then I realized why he might have thought that. The lure’s treble hooks had got caught in the net after netting the fish, and I had to release the fish from the treble hooks before I unhooked the lure from the net. I realized at this time that I had not taken any photos with any of the fish I had caught with this lure over the weekend, so I hung the lure in the corner of it’s mouth and took a photo. Thus, I can see why he looked at the photo, and thought that because of the hooks placement, I might not have caught the fish on the lure. I tagged my friend Brian in the comments, who was on the boat at the time of the catch, and he vouched for me.
First of all, and most importantly, I’d like to promise everyone that I will never falsely claim that I caught a fish on a lure that I made just to get a positive response. I started painting lures as a creative outlet and as a way to hopefully catch more fish. The reason I am now sharing them with others are: to make lures to help others catch fish, to be a part of the local fishing community and meet others who share my love for fishing and lastly to make enough money to cover my fishing habit.
I look forward to seeing others share photos of their catches with my lures as well. This is the most rewarding part of what I am doing. Tight lines!
Just wanted to thank Tristan for snapping a few photos of my catch this past Friday evening.
