Today is to honor the memories of those who gave everything for our country. Thank you for your sacrifice.

🇺🇸 Edward Cornelius (12/16/1919 - 06/13/1944, age 25) US Army-Air Corps
Edward was on board B24D1, Tail # 42-72811, nicknamed “Uncle Sam”. They left from Mokerang Airfield, on Negros Island, on a night time pathfinder strike mission to bomb Japanese air and naval forces in the Carolina Islands. About 5 hours into the 13 hour flight, the plane was observed to burst into flames and crash into the sea. An extensive search by plane and ship was conducted, but no survivors were found. Edward is a recipient of a Purple Heart, Air Medal, & His name is listed on the Tablets of the Missing.

🇺🇸 Theodore Cornelius (06/27/1917 - 02/22/1944, age 27) US Navy-USS Scorpion I
The USS Scorpion submarine was lost on Feb. 1, 1944 during WWII. Departing Pearl Harbor on 12/29/1943, Scorpion went out to conduct her fourth war patrol. Her assigned area was in the northern East China Sea and Yellow Sea. The scorpion requested a rendezvous with Herring, who was returning from patrol and was near her. After leaving Herring, Scorpion was never seen or heard from again. It is assumed that she hit a Japanese mine. Theodore is a recipient of the Purple Heart, and his name is listed on the Tablets of the Missing.

🇺🇸 Robert Cornelius (1922 - 01/18/1968, age 46) US Navy-USS Delta
Robert served with distinction in the US Navy on the USS Delta. During World WAr II, the USS Delta was assigned to the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater. During a raid off the coast of Italy, Robert was struck by shrapnel and was honorably discharged. He received a purple heart for his service.
