Autosuggest of the day!

Today is National Wine Drinking Day [please cue the 'everyday is wine drinking day' comments].

Amazon has some interesting autosuggests, but none more fascinating than "Wine Drinking Buddies." On the surface, you may think that Amazon is now offering drinking friends, hopefully through their prime program. But alas, we could not control clicking on it and you know what, they are indeed selling Drinking Buddies, in fact, you can buy a package of 8 buddies at once.

NASCO - Tracking Customers and Why It's Not Always Effective 18/02/2020

"How did you find us?"

It is a question that most business professionals ask because they will likely want to increase their efforts in that area. Tracking customers and their purchasing journey is nothing new...every good business wants to know this. With the implementation of digital marketing over the last decade, getting this information appears to becoming easier and easier to the point that many feel as though marketing is actually a empirical business practice (it's not, never will be...more on that in the future).

With data and apparent customer tracking as sophisticated as it is today, the market appears to be forgetting the complex nature of the consumer buying process and companies that are focused on what is happening outside of the numbers are the only ones seeing positive returns inside of the numbers.

Join our founder on a short podcast discussing Tracking the Customer and find out what is getting lost in the data, where the market is failing, and what you can do in order to now fall in this trap.

Autosuggest(s) of the Day!

According to the "National Days" calendar, February 11th has little room left for new additions.

Today, we choose to celebrate in 2 of these days; National Guitar and National Inventors Days. One because we love to rock out and the other because we like to consider ourselves to be part of this group.

We did not invent autosuggest, but we were the very first to learn how to harness that power and bring to the masses. As with all inventions, it has been challenging, and certainly a few bumps in the road along the way.

By the way, if you were like us and wondering who invented peanut butter after seeing the Google autosuggest ..we could not find an answer, but rest assured they should have a National Day as well (what a hero).

Have a great day!

Autosuggest Of The Day!

National...Umbrella...Day? Huh? It is a real thing.

Before the 18th century, umbrellas were considered a sign of wealth and nobility. In addition, this day is reserved for umbrellas so that people can 'honor the humble umbrella.'

Also, according to Google & Amazon's autosuggests...Umbrella Academy is a popular thing. Upon further investigation, Umbrella Academy is a Netflix original show that scored a 94% Like rating from Google...Impressive.

Autosuggest of the Day!

We are going to kick off a new series that highlights some of the quirkier "National" & "International" days of the year by showcasing autosuggest and what it may reveal about item/thing/person.

We could not be kicking this new series off with a more profound and easily identifiable important day...National Fettuccine Alfredo Day.

Enjoy, you creamy-sauce, Olive-Garden-breadstick-dippin, need-to-workout-for-a-month-after, lover of autosuggest!

The rules for reviews are changing and you need not look past how the people around you to know this is true. It seems as though more and more people are identifying methods in which they use reviews to make online purchases.

Certainly this gives rise to the idea that reviews are important...but how is the data being interpreted in your potential customer's mind? Is an average rate of 5 stars too good to be true and if it is, wouldn't that be unfair to those businesses who deserve that rating? If anything lower than 4 stars not even relevant because only 4% of feedback is negative?

There is no doubt that positive consumer feedback is a good thing for your business but the true place and identity of online reviews is still very much evolving.

How often do you blink your eyes? Probably way more than you realize.

Blinking your eyes is an extremely important biological function, so why are you so unaware of it? It is likely due to your brain taking for granted the action because it is done all the time, without fail, and our attention is focused on other matters.

Same thing with autosuggest. It is everywhere! Seriously, every major platform has it and you likely use it without even noticing. In fact, 70% of all internet searches are now ending in an autosuggest selection. Don't believe us? Now that we have pointed this out, it is likely you will notice yourself throughout the day using this feature on all of your favorite websites.

By the way, you will also likely notice yourself doing this all the time, much past this simple exercise...sorry, but that also makes us good marketers!

Super Bowl Ads & The Most Important Marketing Lesson Ever 31/01/2020

Happy Friday! Earlier on in the week we talked about Super Bowl ads, the increase in price, and left you with the sense that a discussion would soon be published about why a company like Budweiser would make such a decision to invest that much money.

We will start this discussion where that one left off...This is the most important topic in marketing and no one is talking about it.

Buckle up for this discussion on Lifetime Value of A Customer. The discussion is long, but you will likely learn more about marketing in the next 45 minutes than the collective past 45 months. Enjoy!

Super Bowl Ads & The Most Important Marketing Lesson Ever There is no need to convince people that there seems to be a problem in marketing. False promises, uninspring returns, wasting money & time, etc are just som...

"Being on the first page of Google" is a phrase we have come to really loathe. The reasons may not be apparent unless you deal in this industry, so please buckle up and let us explain.

Lets get this out of the way...Being on the first page should be important to you because you wont get customers from them otherwise. But this idea of being on the first page has become so skewed that people are losing money by misinformation.

The graph attached shows information regarding click-through-rate (CTR). Basically this rate shows the percentage of people who click on certain positions, thus showing how valuable those positions are. In predictable fashion, the lower the position, the lower the CTR...case closed? Not necessarily...

The first page of Google has 10 organic results, but notice how positions 6-10 are collectively the same as position 5. Functionally speaking, 6-10 are on the first page, but additionally only gather an insignificant amount of traffic. Being on the first page alone simply isn't cutting it and potentially luring you into costly marketing programs.

In addition, these CTRs don't take into consideration the 'size of the pie.' Meaning, if you are on the first page for a search that doesnt get any searches..who cares. Sorry, but it is like bragging that you are the world champs of tee ball.

Marketing needs a refresh because common sense and sensible solutions are lacking considerably. If you are ranked 6-10, it is likely you are spending money to be there, but it is also likely that your money would yield more exposure on a pay-per-click campaign.

Marketing costs for ad space during the Super Bowl have risen to mythological heights. Even if you count for inflation, the ad spend in 1967 translates into roughly $300,000 in today's dollars. So why the meteoric rise?

Certainly the audience has grown which means the ad spots have more potential of producing some wanted return. In addition, Super Bowl ads have woven themselves into the fabric of our culture, which makes them unique in how people pay attention to them. All of these factors though pale in comparison to one more consequential thing...competition in today's market is far more robust. Companies today are forced to compete harder for your business because marketing is, under the current model, a war of attrition.

But even in a war of attrition, companies need to produce a return, simple math makes that a necessity. So how does Budweiser spend so much money on Super Bowl ads, market to people who have likely already made their beer purchase, and still justify a return on their absurd investment? The answer is simple...Lifetime Value of a Customer.

This may be the most important topic of marketing you may not know. Our founder will be realizing a podcast this week on this topic...you will want to look out for it.

GO CARDINALS (They will make it someday)

Everyone loves good statistics...except maybe reality. We all know that the internet and principles that guide it are in a state of constant change. The rules of yesterday may be a dinosaur today and these statistics play an important role in understanding what changes have occurred and even moreover maybe able to predict future changes.

To that, statistics like these fail to tell an overall story and should not be used as sole points in decision making. The founder of NASCO jumps on a quick Podcast to discuss Follow Up Impression, why it is critical to each business, and why these data points do not tell enough to make overall decisions.

Don't miss an opportunity to hear this valuable information from one of the industry's best minds.

We have to be careful about introducing new people to what we do...it's kind of a 'thing.'

22/01/2020

The most powerful and influential platforms on the internet have one thing in common...they all became a great story about the investment opportunity we all missed (still kind of sour about it).

Well, they may actually have 2 things in common. Autosuggest has now become a function of every major website on the planet and the reason is simple...because everyone uses it. Why does everyone use it...because its awesome.

Here are a couple screenshots below of just some of the major platforms using Autosuggest:

1) Google
2) Amazon
3) Facebook
4) Twitter
5) Instagram
6) Youtube

Is Duckduckgo really a thing? Anyway, they use it to.

OH BOY, we are going to take some heat for this one. Collectively we have been in marketing for many decades and the playbook is rather exhausting on how you are sold. Big words, ridiculous claims, the list goes on.

Yes, we want you to use our service...duh. To that, we also want to make sure we are using common sense in our approach. How you may make purchasing decisions and the methods that bring you down that path is likely how all of your customers are also doing it. In this respect, common sense should rule of your marketing decisions.

Which one of the things outlined in the attached picture is the most overused?

Have you seen the clever trick we have pulled to w**d out people who tend to rush through things on our website www.notanotherseocompany.com? See if you can find it and comment below...

We are hiring like 1008954845790 people and then what we are gonna do is put them all in a situation they cant succeed in and the person who can sell the most amount of family members wins a mediocre existence and a lifetime of defending the company that everyone else failed at...hurry now and apply!

If you cant tell by now, we at NASCO find a lot of humor is common practices that just don't work. Yes, we are hiring, but we are looking to add only 1 additional salesmen to our team. We are a growing company that truly believes in transparency and commitment. If you are the right fit, we will make sure success is inevitable or else we have failed you in some part of our processes.

If you are good at sales (not as in your grandma thinks so, but like good...you have made actual money doing it) and want to join a company that will truly support your aspirations (as long as you sign up 3 of your friends and they sign up 3 of theirs LOL...thats a joke people), then click the lick to our website, fill out the form on our careers tab and lets chat.

Please let us tell you a story...

Once upon a time, in a world where customers mattered, there existed specials and discounts only for those who were supporting the business. This world was filled with happiness and the AZ Cardinals were Superbowl Champions every year (Ok, this story is getting outta control).

Anyways, along came a monster disguised as discounts for only new customers and all the current customers were mad. They needed a hero!

Along came an unlikely hero (but did have a Cardinals tattoo) and slayed the new customer discounts and gave them back the the current customers...and everyone was happy...the end.

BOGO Keywords on Amazon for current customers! (if your not a current customer, get involved with the cool club).

We are a little confused on where to apply for your open marketing position, so we wanted to publish our resume here for you to look at. Let us know when we can start.

$136 Billion (that is with B) is the projected revenue made on online sales in November and December. It is hard to understand how much money this is, but to make some comparisons, it is nearly the same entire economic output of Hungry, or the cost of nearly 4 billion Furbis (assuming you do not get any bulk purchasing discounts). If you are an online retailer, times up on your marketing...or is it?

14/10/2019

Recently, some projection of Ad Spend in 2020 was published. In no surprise, Digital Ad Spend continues to rise and overtake some other traditional marketing tools. The big story in this research is that TV continues to be #1 and accounts for nearly 29% of all ad spend. In a world that is dominated by Netflix, DVR, and YouTube, why are so many choosing TV to spend there money on? Sounds like a big bubble that is soon to pop!
