Sitka and Nikolai are growing up! These three week old bottle babies have been in foster since they were only a couple days old.⁣

Neonatal kittens are always fragile and vulnerable. This is especially true when they spend so little time with their mom. Unfortunately, their sibling Nome didn’t make it, but we are grateful their foster is giving this litter the best chance possible at life.⁣

If you happen to find baby kittens, leave them be and observe the situation. Their mom will provide the best care for them. Just make sure that everyone ends up getting spayed/neutered. Learn more at www.ohioalleycat.org/found-kittens/⁣

OAR took in over 100 at-risk cats and kittens this week from open admission shelters and our rescue partners. How could we do this? Because during the same period we sent 95 cats and kittens into foster! ⁣

Fostering really does save lives. This week would not have been possible without our fosters! The more people who foster, the more cats we can help. Learn more and sign up to foster at www.ohioalleycat.org/foster

TANDY went into foster this week with Elyse! This is Elyse’s first foster.🥇⁣
⁣⁣
It’s a rough time right now. We greatly appreciate our fosters families helping us get through it. Fostering provides a shelter the flexibility to make it through anything. ⛵️⁣

Tandy was pulled from a county shelter in West Virginia where she was at risk. Thank you for allowing us to rescue cats like Tandy. 🙏⁣

9 cats went into foster today with 6 different foster homes! 🏆⁣

Rice Krispie, Snap, Crackle, Pop, Magnus, Lily Charles, Hunter, Stan the Man, and Superstar. ⁣

A mom and her 3 babies, cats recovering from surgery, cats who need some socialization/confidence building, and more. OAR’s fosters are amazing! We would be lost without them.⁣

3 more fosters are already lined up to come in tomorrow!⁣

Fostering is an extremely flexible lifesaving tool. Buildings are limited, but fostering is boundless. Join our team and we’ll save even more lives. ⁣

3/16/20 UPDATE: THIS CLASS HAS BEEN POSTPONED BY AT LEAST 2 WEEKS DUE TO CONCERNS SURROUNDING COVID-19. PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR A NEW DATE AND TIME! ⁣

We need help caring for bottle baby kittens! Please attend a class at OAR on Saturday 3/21, 4:30pm. ⁣

5619 Orlando Place, Cincinnati, 45227.⁣

RSVP by emailing [email protected]

The most vulnerable and at-risk cats in the sheltering world are neonatal kittens who have been separated from their mother for one reason or another. Bottle babies cannot be cared for on-site at most shelters/rescues, including OAR. They must go into foster. That’s where you come in!⁣

ALICE COOPER went into foster this week with Elise! This is Elise’s first OAR foster.🥇⁣
⁣⁣
Alice Cooper was pulled from a county shelter in West Virginia where he was at risk. If people did not foster cats, we would rarely have the space or resources to help cats like Alice.⁣

Yam came to OAR because he was a community cat who was not thriving outside. We have no doubt Alle will help make sure all of his days and nights are merry and bright from here on out! ⁣

The stars aligned today and Angus went into foster with Nicholas!! Less than a day after he applied to foster. This is his first foster cat!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Angus might have FeLV. That’s why he arrived at OAR from a local shelter. (Many vets and shelters recommend euthanasia for FeLV cats.) He’ll be in foster until we can retest to confirm.⁣⁣ This is the second cat who might have FeLV who has gone into foster in the past few days.
⁣⁣
OAR has an adoption program for FeLV+ cats, so Angus will end up in a loving home no matter the test results. 28 FeLV adoptions so far this year!⁣⁣

Jay took Jolly into foster on 12/3 and helped reacquaint her with the love she deserves. She then joined the adoption center 12/13 and was quickly adopted a few days later on 12/16 (final photo).⁣⁣⁣

Jolly lived up to her name when someone came for her! She was thrilled! Fosters are life changers.⁣⁣⁣

AUTUMN showed her true colors in foster!⁣

We love seeing cats in foster come out of their shells! A foster home gives a cat the chance to shake off the memories of whatever experiences led them our way. It allows a cat to enjoy being a cat again!

Autumn is currently in the green room at OAR looking for an adoptive home.⁣

RUMBA went into foster with Ana this week!! Ana’s first foster!⁣

Rumba is being treated for a fungal infection called ringworm. (It sounds so much scarier than it is!!) One reason we love sending ringworm cats into foster is because it means they get extra love while waiting to confirm they have cleared the fungus (rather than living in a cage at OAR for week after week).⁣
