A partnership between Curator + Design Director Eileen Tognini, of Eileen Tognini Design, and Visual Artist + Storyteller Julia Blaukopf, of Fotografica, makes perfect sense for maximizing the potential of a space while remaining rooted in tradition.

Through an artists’ lens, ETD is committed to collaborating with creatives and makers based in Philadelphia. Sustaining a local creative economy through her work with developers, contractors, architects, and residential clients is of primary importance to the ethos of ETD Studio. Working with Julia and her keen eye for capturing a sense of place through the camera lens and subsequent presentation, provides the viewer with a rich experiential environment.

is committed to historical preservation and adaptive reuse. For APG’s office, Eileen Tognini Design commissioned JB to consider the inclusion of vintage blueprints and imagery of historic buildings which Alterra Property Group had developed, culminating in a multifaceted story within a story centered on Philadelphia and the APG portfolio. The deep blue tones of the images were intended to evoke a dreamlike quality as well as represent the APG brand.

Julia researched historic blueprints at City Hall, photographed several APG properties, and designed two collages that speak to the history of Philadelphia, APG’s home base, as well as their revamped properties located in the city.

Located in the Rittenhouse Square area, the office was formerly a 1920’s parking garage, renovated with 20 residential units above the Alterra corporate office. The building includes the original concrete flooring, lofted ceilings, and large industrial-style windows. Modernizing the space and incorporating a renewed visual interest including nods to APG work, JB + ETD installed the collages in view of the main office space and the kitchen. Bespoke details and clean lines create an inviting and productive workspace — the blend of work and play, creativity and history, represent the brand and mission of APG while providing inspiration for what's to come!

Eileen Tognini commissioned Julia Blaukopf on behalf of Alterra Property Group to create photo-based wall coverings steeped in historical narratives for their residential building in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. Known as "The Shirt Corner”, the apartments are located on the site of the iconic Philadelphia men's haberdashery, which had operated on the historic mercantile street for decades.

Fine art photographer, Julia Blaukopf, worked closely with ETD to create a series of pictorial mural montages using historic photographs. Each elevator lobby is marked with its own historic reference to the neighborhood. Blaukopf researched photographs and renderings of the iconic building that formerly stood at 3rd and Market. Julia photographed her findings and pieced them together to make one continuous wall mural.

The aim of the research was to depict the site as it looked spanning over the decades, seamlessly combining hundreds of years into one cohesive design. For the individual floors of the building, they selected a unique design for each mural which expanded upon the opportunity to reflect on the history, as well as mark for the tenants a moment of arrival on their floor. The surface of the Canvas Tac provided a very fitting, organic texture that speaks to a sense of the natural antiquity JB wanted to convey.

A recent install from a client’s newly built home in 💭

This dreamy powder room is the perfect accent piece for a new construction in the Oak Bluffs neighborhood. We worked in collaboration with to showcase this timeless piece of art that weaves together the history of the Oak Bluffs community with a modern nautical feel per the clients directive.

From Julia — “The most important part of my process is ensuring that the art I make is meaningful for my clients. For this piece, I wove together my personal photographs of Martha’s Vineyard with historical photos of the site and surrounding area to ensure that this piece was centered in the history of the Black community in Oak Bluffs. I wanted to showcase the unique and fabulous feeling of this area while also including an homage to a historic representation of the town.”

North Bar’s partners wanted the custom wall-vinyl to create an immersive experience. Inspired by 19th century TriBeca and the harbor — once home to the largest cluster of oysters in the area — celebrates small plates and unique drinks that is reminiscent of maritime TriBeca.
