Happiness comes when you are doing the thing you love and it never feels like a chore and you ever want to retire from it.
This is what painting does for me and I would like to share that feeling with the world.
When they thought you were drawing them. My third shift audiance.
What I’ve learned is I like oil paint if I can paint it in layers. I had a a specific amount of time to paint this but was allowed to walk away (not alla prima). I’m satisfied with the end results of the time required but am going to go back and detail more in my free time. I’ll definitely consider more oil painting, doing it this way.
Today was grab a brush and hold it at a distance and draw what is seen at a larger scale proportionally with the tool you’re drawing with. I understand the eyeballing and thumbs measuring I see portrait artists doing. Not easy by any means for me but I see how it makes it easier to free hand a larger scale.
Today’s lesson was monochromatic undertones. We first had to lay a thin layer of paint mixed with linseed oil/thinner, then etch out an outline with a subtraction tool and qtips, sponges, etc, to take out some other areas where the brighter paint colors will be. The development over this week is going to be very interesting.
You may see just doodles but today’s lesson taught me how to actually hold charcoal or pencils or anything and how shoulder motion is how to make straight lines and perfect circles, not a crooked tightly gripped hand. If there charcoal on the back of your hands, you’re doing it correctly. Didn’t think I’d be getting a shoulder workout, so I switched hands to give my left hand a workout as well. 🥳💪
As much as I’ve taught myself the art skills I have, I have decided to embark on a year long mastery program with the Milan Art Institute. With hard work and dedication, I should be 1000x better at the craft and be where I dream to be as an artist. I’ve decided to post my experience, not only for me to look back on but also for anyone who may be on the fence deciding if they would like to embark on this journey as well.
I haven’t stopped painting, just working on making a suitable makeshift studio in the basement. Hanging some past and present work just to remind myself how far I’ve come.
More is going on behind the scenes this year. I realized I did not want to retire from any career but to do what I love forever. Starting a business from the ground up takes a lot of hard work. Slowly getting everything in order.
It’s been some time since I have posted any sort of art I’ve been doing. The twin foxes are digital watercolor and the eggs are just me and my sense of humor.
Having a blast recreatingnthese mobs for our mod!
Working on my skills making concept art for a mod I’m helping working on. 💪
Requested two random objects to draw and let my imagination do the rest.
It has been a while since I have sat down to do any sort of art. Tonight this just screamed for me to create and I am glad I did. The peace and happiness I get from making art makes everything better, brighter, relaxing, and more fun. # artist
