What an amazing weekend last weekend spending time with my S.E.R.V.E initiative, The Sunset Project!

You guys! They are the most amazing people ever! At their fundraising event, Brighter Horizons, they were able to raise money for their programs this year. Seeing community come together to help support this organization is just another reason why I love NE Michigan.

I’m so excited to see how they continue to make a difference within Michigan this year💛🧡❤️

Isn't she lovely! Our beautiful Miss Michigan Teen Volunteer had the chance to wow the judges in her first phase of competition! We are so excited for you to take the stage!

An essential part of being Miss Michigan Volunteer is picking a S.E.R.V.E initiative that highlights an organization that makes a difference in and outside my area of serving. I am so excited to announce that the organization I have picked to represent at Miss Volunteer America is The Sunset Project! The Sunset Project holds such a special place in my heart, being that it operates in Northeast Michigan and serves to bring mental health advocacy and creative advancement to the rural communities in our area. TSP brings awareness to the stigma around mental health by using a nationally recognized evidence-based program to spread its message in schools.

TSP teaches students that it is crucial to reach out and be open about the mental struggles they are dealing with. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn the effects mental health has on their mind and body.

Additionally, TSP has creative advancement programs that help foster and grow individual success and overarching creative scenes in the region. The programs allow greater access to opportunities not typically seen in rural environments.

The dual mission statement can often be connected. Creativity can be a fantastic outlet that helps those battling mental struggles. I've seen with my own eyes how creativity can be a sense of hope for those who struggle with their mental well-being! It's time to break down the walls and open up about how mental health affects not just Michigan but our nation as a whole!

Thank you, TSP, for not only being a fantastic organization but also for being amazing people! It will be an absolute honor to represent you on a national stage.

I believe in being transparent. It is because of this that I am broadcasting that our contestant numbers are low. This opportunity is a beautiful and amazing opportunity for the young women of this state but I will not hold a pageant if we do not have the contestant numbers to support it. If you compete in pageants talk to us, find out what makes us different. A conversation does not commit you and you may find your self wearing our crown...

We are so excited to be receiving applications to compete in this year's pageant! We hope to hear from more amazing young women to seek to win the crown!

"What happens after the pageant?"

The answer is simple. If you win you will prep for nationals in June. You will have input into your scheduled appearances. It will be a busy 6 months. That being said you will not be expected to give up your job or take a semester off.

If you loose you will be under no obligation to our organization. We do not own you. We recognize that there are many opportunities. We will cheer for you in all of your future endeavors. We believe in empowering you to be your best!
