Okinawa purple sweet potatoes are a special treat for me . They are not only beautiful but full of powerhouse nutrients.🍠

They are rich in antioxidants.

The health benefits of Okinawan sweet potatoes are largely due to their high antioxidant content.
The antioxidant anthocyanin causes Okinawa sweet potatoes beautiful, deep purple color, and is the same antioxidant found in blueberries.

Antioxidants are molecules that help protect the body from damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can damage cells and lead to chronic diseases.

They can sometimes be found in the frozen section of your grocery store .

Shrimp & Grits (Paleo Style)🍤🍤

Ingredients

For the shrimp
15 pieces raw shrimp, shelled and de-veined
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
6 garlic cloves minced, divided
Zest from one lemon
2 tsp dried oregano, divided
2 slices bacon (optional)
1/2 large onion, diced
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the grits
1 large head of cauliflower, cut into florets
1/4 cup almond milk
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp ghee or butter
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions
In a medium bowl mix together the olive oil, 2 cloves of garlic, lemon zest, and 1 teaspoon dried oregano. Place shrimp in the bowl and marinate for 1-3 hours.
Place a couple inches of water in a large pot. Once water is boiling, place steamer insert and then cauliflower florets into the pot and cover. Steam for 12-14 minutes, until completely tender. Drain and return cauliflower to pot.
Add the milk, ghee, and garlic to the cauliflower. Using an immersion blender, combine ingredients. The cauliflower should be fairly thick to resemble the consistency of grits. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Reserving the bacon fat in the pan, set the bacon aside to cool and break into pieces.
Add the butter to the bacon fat in the pan and melt. Add the onion and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add in the remaining 4 garlic cloves, dried oregano, and the red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Stir in the white wine vinegar, and then add the shrimp. Cook, stirring frequently, until the shrimp are cooked through, 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper. Serve shrimp and onions over grits, with bacon and fresh oregano for garnish.😋

Load up with fiber🥬

Fiber takes longer to digest and adds bulk to food. A small study found that a high-fiber diet increased satiation and reduced hunger.

Eat apples daily 🍎
Aside from just drinking water to keep you fuller, food with a high water content will also help you fight hunger. Apples have a high water content and are full of fiber which also helps keep you full.

Incorporate protein at every meal🥩🍣
Protein is one of the most useful tools in keeping full. Making sure you get enough protein is easy to do and also helps boost energy levels. Ideally, meals should be one-third protein so it’s good to learn which foods are rich in protein to ensure your meals are nice and balanced. Chicken, turkey, and fish are high in protein so are good choices for lunch or dinner main.

Drink plenty of water 💦
It’s not the most interesting thing in the world but drinking lots of water is such an easy way to keep full. It depends on your body type and how much water you need but the standard 8 glasses is a good measure to go by. You can sometimes mistake thirst for hunger so if you are feeling peckish, have a glass of water first.
Top tip: Keep a liter bottle of water close to hand on your desk or in the kitchen. If you have a bottle filled near you, you are much more likely to drink it.

Eat breakfast 🍳🫐🍓
It’s easy to think you don’t need breakfast. Mornings can be busy in a family house and you may not always be that hungry first thing - but it’s really important to eat a full breakfast. Starting your day with a filling meal will impact how you eat for the rest of the day. If you have breakfast you will be less likely to snack and less likely to choose a large lunch.

Get enough sleep💤😴🛌
If you’re tired you are more likely to snack on food as your body craves energy boosters. A good night’s sleep will mean that you don’t feel as hungry during the course of the day.

Usually when you have traumas, you find ways to hide and for way too long I used food and also tried to hurt myself with binge eating and other things.

God has given me a chance to heal my body through food.
Healthy, gluten free, dairy free, clean, wholesome food.

Having so many hormonal and health issues, I have been procrastinating, due to always being so tired and always rushing .
One day I prayed inside my closet asking God to help me.
Doing so many things for God, I was neglecting the Temple of the Holy Spirit . After this prayer, one day talking to Beto (my husband) I cried a lot saying that I could no longer stand the pain I felt in my body due to so much inflammation. Due to hypothyroidism, polycystic o***y, metabolism almost stopped, herniated discs, I was giving a lot of excuses to do nothing. We get tired sometimes, don't we? But know that God also cares about your health! Not only with your heart and Spirit. I praise God for the life of Maria, a very sweet and loved woman who has helped me and who in the most difficult moment contacted me. Really an answer to my cry It will not be magic, there is no medicine, injection or surgery, but be healed through food. Has even changed my mood! Thank God ! I'm starting all over again! Pray for me please (lost 15lbs in 6 weeks) it's gonna be a loooong journey but so worth it.

Baked Salmon in Foil with Asparagus and Lemon
Garlic Butter Sauce. 🍣🍽️

INGREDIENTS LIST FOR THE SALMON RECIPE WITH ASPARAGUS
• 1 pound (450g) salmon fillets, divided
• 2 tablespoons vegetable broth or chicken broth
• 1 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
• 1 tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce (we used Sriracha)
• 4 teaspoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
• Salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
• 3-4 tablespoons butter, diced into small cubes (or ghee)
• 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley or cilantro
• 1 lb (450g) medium-thick asparagus, woody ends trimmed

DIRECTIONS
1. To prepare the oven-baked salmon in foil packs: Preheat your oven to 425ºF (220ºC). Cut 2 sheets of 14 by 12-inch (35 x 30 cm) heavy-duty aluminum foil, then lay each piece separately on the countertop. Combine broth, lemon juice, and hot sauce in a small bowl.
2. Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and pepper and divide the salmon onto the aluminum foil near the center, then place trimmed asparagus on one side of the salmon, following the long direction of the foil.
3. Adjust the salmon fillets’ seasoning with more salt and pepper, then sprinkle garlic on top. Drizzle the mixture of broth, lemon juice, and hot sauce generously over the salmon fillets and asparagus.
4. Divide butter pieces evenly among the foil packets, layering them over the salmon fillet and asparagus.
5. Wrap salmon foil packets in and crimp edges together, then wrap ends up. Don’t wrap too tight – keep a little extra space inside for heat to circulate. 
6. Transfer the salmon foil packs to a baking sheet and bake salmon in the oven, sealed side upward, until salmon has cooked through, about 9 – 12 minutes. 
7. Carefully unwrap the baked salmon in foil packets, drizzle with more lemon juice, garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and a slice of lemon. Enjoy!😋

Apple skin is rich in the antioxidant quercetin and polyphenol, which can help regulate your immune system and reduce inflammation.
Antioxidants are compounds that protect your cells from free radicals - harmful molecules that contribute to the development of chronic conditions, like heart disease and cancer.
Apples contain pectin, a type of fiber that acts as a prebiotic. This means it feeds your gut microbiota, which is the good bacteria in your gut.
Recent research suggests that, by beneficially altering your gut microbiota, apples may help protect against chronic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
A compilation of studies found that eating apples was associated with an 18% reduction in type 2 diabetes risk. In fact, just one serving per week may reduce the risk by 3%.
Apples' fiber content may also contribute to their cancer-fighting properties. A test-tube study found that apple pectin fiber could inhibit the growth of cancerous cells and even trigger their death.
