Ozark Technical Rescue LLC
Provide the skills and knowledge to perform Technical rescues.
I wanted to say Thank You! To everyone who has reached out and encouraged us along the way. Is there some negativity? Yes, but I wanted to address some questions.
"Who are you?"
My name is Jacob Gormley. I am a Combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient who once leaving the Marine Corps fell in love with the fire service.
I started volunteering and obtained all certificates to be a Career Firefighter. After working for a municipal fire dept. I became and currently work as an Urban Search and Rescue Instructor for the Government.
"What standards and or curriculum are you using?"
I will be following NFPA 1006 Standards (The Standard). I have been working directly with the MO State Division of Fire Safety to make sure all T's are crossed and i's dotted.
My goal is to simply bring Technical Rescue classes to areas that need it. I am in no way trying to Instruct anything without it being industry standard.
Stay Tuned for great things in the future!
Thank you
Jacob Gormley
Technical rescue is a specialized service of fire and rescue service encompassing six disciplines: rope rescue, confined space rescue, vehicle/machinery rescue, structural collapse rescue, trench rescue and water rescue. Each discipline requires advanced training to develop unique skill sets.
Technical Rescue isn't meant to be a secret. It isn't for the elite to keep to the elite. It was created to rescue people in bad situations on their worst day. It isn't for the few but meant to incorporate the skills and knowledge so everyone can perform a technical rescue to save a life.
If you are not in it for the community you serve and/or to pass on the knowledge so others can save a life then you are not in it for the right reasons
Classes will be through MO Division of Fire Safety.
Following NFPA 1006
Curriculum from Jones and Bartlett High Angle Rope Rescue Techniques Fourth edition.
First class still projected to be in August!
I wanted to share a little about myself as I have been messaged regarding credentials. I find it to be a valid question. I currently volunteer as a LT. for a fire dept. My day job is an Urban Search and Rescue Instructor for the Government. Before that I was a career firefighter and even longer ago I was in the Marine Corps. I have been asked by other emergency personnel to provide training to civilians. I didn't want to just provide an in house certification but certifications that you could carry throughout your career. So I started a small company in hopes to be able to provide Technical Rescue training. I look forward to passing these skills on to brothers and sisters so they can better help their communities.
Thank you to those who have "liked" this page. Things are moving forward with a goal to have our first Common Core and Ropes 1 class starting in August. Will post dates and location as soon as I can. These classes will follow NFPA 1006 Standards and hopefully be IFSAC certified by then. Just waiting on a few things that are being developed. Technical Rescue is an important part of the fire service and we look forward to being able to provide the knowledge and skills to make you successful!
Welcome!
We will be offering Technical Rescue courses in the coming months. We are excited to offer the knowledge and skills in these disciplines. Dates ,prices and times are not set.We will put out more information in the coming months.
