Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary:
It is in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam.
It is named after Dehing River which flows through the forest and Patkai Hills, at the foothills of which the sanctuary is situated.
Dehing Patkai forms largest stretch of lowland rainforest in India interspersed with semi-evergreen. The wildlife sanctuary is a sub-tropical rainforest often likened to Amazon.
It is an important elephant habitat and was declared as Dehing-Patkai Elephant Reserve under Project Elephant.
It is rich in both floral and faunal biodiversity. For example, Assamese macaque,a primate found in the forest, is in the red list of Near Threatened species.
About: National Centre for Seismology (NCS)
It is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country.
NCS maintains National Seismological Network of 115 stations spread all across the country.
NCS monitors earthquake activity all across the country through its 24x7 round the clock monitoring centre.
It also monitors earthquake swarm and aftershock through deploying temporary observatory close to the affected region.
Apart from earthquake monitoring, NCS is also actively involved in the Seismic Hazard Microzonation and seismological research.
