I know it sounds like but you are reinventing yourself everyday. What I mean by reinventing is you start from scratch everyday. It is a blank piece of paper. You forget about what happened last week, last night, last couple hours before you went to bed and start a new.

Right now, as I am writing this I know that tomorrow when I wake up that I have to put behind this hellish week and move forward. Just have always be pursuing progress and pursuing that forward motion in life.

You can’t get hung up on a sh*tty day or sh*tty week. Trust me, I am trying to fight off this bad mood right now before I head to dinner with Christina and our friends.

Just remember every time you go to bed and every time you watch up that there is a clean slate ahead of you where you can and will push forward on and progress.

Francis is right. You cannot rely on chance or luck for an opportunity to fall into your lap. Instead, you need to get up off your ass and search for them or create them yourself.

This goes for anything in life. Personally if I want to change industries, I need to find a way to connect with people in that industry whether it be a quick phone call, informational interview, or coffee because just finding a job on LinkedIn and submitting my resume to it won't just work. From a business perspective, if you are a new owner then you need to seek out your competitive advantage over other companies because if you don't then you will just get swallowed up by them.

I can keep list examples until I am blue in the face, but the moral of the quote is you cannot be passive in life. You need to be always active and on the hunt for that next opportunity or the next advantage that will set you apart from the rest.

I have come across this problem a couple of times in life. The problem where an opportunity presents itself, but I deliberate or procrastinate too long and I lose it.

Prime example right now, I am pretty damn sure I found my near perfect career move. I stumbled upon it while searching/deep diving on the Jobs Section of LinkedIn, and couldn't believe it was there. Not only could I not believe that it was still up, but it has been up online for 2 weeks now.

Now typically, I would find one of these opportunities online save it in my tracked jobs section then just either deliberate too long if it was the right position and company for me or I would just procrastinate then the position would be filled.

However, this time I will not let that happen. I even emailed Christina the position and titled the subject as "I Need You To Push Me To Apply To This" because this opportunity can very well change my life for the better.

If you have been encountered these same self inflicted wounds that has caused you to lose an opportunity, then you know that you have to change that. Don't say I am going to do it tomorrow. Set the time aside, think about it and act on it.

This week I joined a new team within the advertising agency that I work at and to my surprise, I had an amazing conversation with the brand strategist on the team.

Now a little bit of background before I get to talking about the conversation and the quote above. This was my first one on one chat with this lovely person. We weren't friendly before hand other than saying hello to each and sitting in on meetings together. With that said, you would expect the first one on one interaction to be pretty casual and brief with nothing much to it. Well you will be pleasantly surprised that this wasn't the case at all.

Effortlessly, we dove into deep conversation regarding our current work situations and what we were passionate outside of the office. It was unbelievable to her about her love of painting and her back story of how she got to America and to her current role.

The best part of our chat was her words of wisdom, which brings me to the line above. She said to me, "Move Pebbles." She went on to explain what that meant.

People are always focused on knocking off a massive accomplish or huge goal (aka move boulders), but they never focus on all the smaller details/building blocks that get you there (aka the pebbles). For instance (and I was a culprit of this), someone would say I want to write a song and they would expect to just sit down one day and get it done in one day. The reality is that doesn't happen. You need to work on everyday. Some days you write a couple words. Another day you write a line or two until one day you have the song complete. This is what it means to move pebbles.

So remember when you set those large lofty goals that you need to set your expectations and be consistent. Don't get frustrated when you don't finish or complete it in a 1, 2, 3 fashion, instead just be patient and consistent in work on it. Don't worry you will get to the finish line. @ New York, New York
