It's time for my monthly support group! I can't wait to present on the popular topic of Weight Regain. Send me a message and I'll send you the link to join virtually on Thursday.

Do you wonder what the best diet is for you to follow?

Perhaps you’ve been told by your doctor that you need to lose weight, improve your blood sugar, manage fatty liver, lower your cholesterol, or treat your high blood pressure.

You've consulted with friends, family, Dr. Google, and your neighbor. But…everyone has a different answer for you.
Or maybe your doctor told you what to do: don’t eat red meat, don’t eat processed foods, exercise every day, eat more veggies, etc.

But…it’s too hard and you’re wondering, what else is left TO eat?

I'm here to help. I know what the best diets are and how to actually make it work for YOU. (Yes, even if you have multiple health conditions!) I know what you “should” and “shouldn’t” eat and after working with hundreds of bariatric clients, I know how to help you figure it all out.

I'm so excited to share this program with you and see the results you’ll get from finally learning what diet is best for YOU. Here are the results you can expect from my Custom Jumpstart Program:

• Knowledge of macronutrients, recommended foods, exercise, and diet that is best for you.
• Empowerment with tools and resources you can continue to use to follow your diet every day.
• Support from me and others in the group who understand you.
• Accountability to make sure you follow through with your goals and commitments.
• Success with improving your health conditions.

You can expect to see improvements in your health—just remember that doesn’t happen overnight. While I expect you’ll experience more energy, less pain, weight loss, and a better overall feeling of well-being, you most likely won’t see improvements in blood work for a few months.

Check out my Custom Jumpstart Program here: www.intentionaleating.net/customjumpstart. It starts next week and I want to see you there. Don’t put off your health any longer…you are worth it!

❓❓❓Do you struggle with constipation and irregularity? I know no one wants to talk about it...

🍗 Especially if you are trying to add more protein to your diet as you prepare for surgery, you may be struggling. You may need more fiber in your diet if:
✔️you don't have a bowel movement (BM) every few days
✔️you feel bloated
✔️your BMs are hard or difficult to pass

If this is you, here is what to do:
🍎Eat 25g fiber per day
🏃🏻‍♀️Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day
💦Drink at least 6 cups of fluid per day

🥤If you can't get your fiber through whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and beans, try a fiber supplement. I'm a big fan of the Regular Girl brand (Sunfiber for guys) because it is tasteless and you can add to your favorite beverage or smoothie.

😬As October rolls around, my clients' biggest worries revolve around the holidays. As you know, food is an important part of the holiday season--and that's OK. Holiday food is fun, indulgent, comforting, unique, and special. But...many of my clients are worried about gaining weight and indulging and not feeling well as a result. Can you relate? I've been working with clients for 17 years now and I can tell you that almost all of my clients maintain or lose weight over the holidays. (And it's not because they are "dieting.") Would you like that to be you?

🥳You don't have to diet over the holidays. You don't have to skip out on holiday parties. You don't have to NOT make or buy your favorite treats. You CAN go to all the holiday parties you want to. You CAN make your favorite Christmas cookies. You CAN eat your grandma's sweet potato casserole. You CAN drink your hot chocolate and cider. You CAN enjoy your favorite seasonal pumpkin treats. Does that sound too good to be true? I promise you it's not.

🎉I've helped hundreds of clients not just "survive" the holidays, but "thrive" because they have a plan, support, confidence, and the tools they need to be successful.

🧡I want to share all of that with you because I care about your health. It's truly not about the "weight" or the pounds lost. If you know me, you know that is not my top priority. Instead, I want you to feel good about yourself...to feel proud about your efforts...to feel empowered...to have energy...to be healthy.

✅You can achieve all that by joining my Holiday Wellness Challenge. We start on Monday and I hope to see you there.

Are you getting ready for bariatric surgery and DON’T WANT TO FAIL? 👍🏻

The clients I work with are sick of the endless cycle of dieting, they fear gaining more weight back, and getting sick of being told that their health is getting worse every year.

They would do anything to:

-walk without back pain
-take less medications
-go shopping without having to take breaks to rest
-play with their kids at the park
-travel with their family and feel comfortable while doing it
-have more energy

They feel like their lives are passing before their eyes and they can’t wait to begin a journey to a better life.

They are finally ready to:

👏be prepared pre-surgery so they can ACTUALLY keep the weight off for LIFE
👩‍⚕️get better results than people who don’t have proper support from a professional
🍪learn how to overcome emotional eating
🏃🏻‍♀️use food as fuel rather than pleasure
⏰know what and when to eat
💊know what supplements to take to stay healthy

After all, bariatric surgery is a HUGE investment emotionally, physically and financially—let me help you get it right the first-time.

My clients decide to have bariatric surgery because they know if they don’t, they won’t be able to live the life they dream about. With my program, you get support and education so you can start making changes and seeing results PRE-surgery.

🙌🏻Raise your hand if you use food to keep you awake.

🍪I met with someone today who is doing this very thing. And I know she’s not the only one. It is super common to use food in the afternoon to stay awake.

🍒Now don’t get me wrong, if you’re hungry for a snack in the afternoon I’m all for it.

😴But if you’re not truly hungry, just sleepy, then eating won’t help anything. This is one of the mindset changes that we work on in my pre-surgery class.

👏 My clients are learning when to eat and for the right reasons. And they are feeling better than ever just in time for surgery day! If you too want to be ready for surgery day, click on the link in my bio to apply for my “Everything you need to know before bariatric surgery” program.

Raise your hand if you love cereal for breakfast. 🙌🏻Lots of my clients do too.

But common complaints I hear is the sugar is too high and it doesn’t keep them feeling satisfied for very long. I get it. I know sugary cereal for breakfast is not the best way to start the day. But you don’t have to give up cereal completely.

My clients eat cereal before surgery and do great. The key is what kind you’re choosing and what you’re eating it with.

Here are my tips for having cereal for breakfast:

1. Choose a high-fiber, whole-grain cereal. Some examples are plain Cheerios, All bran, Wheaties, and generic brand flakes.
2. Pair it with skim milk, soy milk, or Fairlife milk. All of these are good sources of protein.
3. Add a heart healthy fat, like a few nuts sprinkled on top.
4. Add a little protein on the side for even more satisfaction, like a hard boiled egg, turkey sausage patty, or a soy link.

This breakfast is hearty and tasty and will keep you satisfied all morning long. Starting your day off right naturally controls hunger hormones and appetite throughout the day. What’s not to like about that?

Double tap if you love to snack at night. ❤️ Who doesn’t?

This is one of the most common habits that I see in my patients They love to snack at night while relaxing at the computer or the TV. 📺

This is one habit though that I encourage people to break as they get ready for surgery. After surgery it might not be a good idea to eat a big snack before bed because of indigestion. 🤢

One strategy one of my clients uses is to brush her teeth right after dinner. She said it was really hard at first but once she got in the habit she was so glad she did. She goes to bed without feeling full and wakes up in the morning feeling hungry. She says that’s a good thing because then she wants to eat a good breakfast. It gets her metabolism going for the day. She’s losing weight, feeling better, sleeping better, and feeling lighter. 👏

Double tap if you love breakfast. ❤️

But do you ever feel like you’re not eating the right kind of breakfast? I have people complain to me that after they eat breakfast they’re hungry one hour later. Can you relate? 🙋🏼‍♀️

When it comes to feeling full, it is all about the types of foods that you’re eating. High-fiber foods stay in your stomach longer which keeps you feeling satisfied longer. So instead of caffeine and sugary breakfast, opt for something high-fiber. Here are some examples:

🍌oatmeal with fruit
🥗scrambled eggs with vegetables
🥜high-fiber tortilla with peanut butter
🥣bran cereal, fruit, and milk

There are lots of tasty high-fiber options that will last you all morning long. And that means feeling more satisfied with less food. 🥳

Get fiber right the first time so you’re not like your friend who had surgery, lost her weight, and then gained it all back. Establish these habits now so you will have the permanent success that you dream about. 👏

My clients are achieving these results and you can too. Click on the link in my bio to apply for my pre-op program.⬆️

There are so many myths I hear about what you can and cannot eat before and after surgery. This is a common one: people think they can’t eat chocolate ever again.

I have no problem with my clients eating chocolate, but the key is to portion it out and savor it as part of a meal.

This is what I mean:
-make sure you know what your absolute favorite source of chocolate is
-purchase your favorite chocolate in bite-size servings
-keep it out of sight
-when you decide to eat a piece, eat it after a meal and let it melt in your mouth
-do not do anything else while you eat the chocolate

My clients are preparing for bariatric surgery AND eating chocolate. You can too! For more tips on prepping for surgery, click on the link in my bio to apply for my program.⬆️

Double tap ❤️ if you take multiple vitamins a day.

It seems like you can’t scroll the Internet without reading stories about the benefits of different vitamins. It can get pretty overwhelming. Good thing all you really need is a bariatric multivitamin and a calcium supplement. No need to take anything extra.

If you’re getting yours from a bariatric company you know it has everything you need.

Some of my favorite brands are:

Unjury
Celebrate Vitamins
Bariatric Fusion
Procare

Double tap ❤️ if you’ve ever eaten to soothe emotions. I’m sure there’s no one that hasn’t done that at least once! 🙌🏻

We talked about this very thing in our group class today. One of my sweet clients had the sleeve and is now having the bypass. She said she has no appetite; however, she wants to eat all day due to emotions. She asked me what to do about it. 🤷‍♀️

I encouraged her to keep a food journal and write down why she wants to eat. I am not concerned so much about what she’s eating but WHY she’s eating. The second step is to ask her what she can do to fill those emotional needs that doesn’t include food. 🍦

Double tap ❤️ if you want to go to Disneyland! Thank goodness it just recently opened up. Haha! 🎉

One of my clients came to me looking for guidance on being ready for surgery so she could maximize her weight loss. She struggled with eating the right kind of foods to stay satisfied throughout the day.

The main reason she wanted to lose weight was her children were begging her to take them to Disney World. She didn’t want to have to ride in a motorized cart and didn’t have the energy to walk through the park. This was her main motivation for getting started in my program. Can you relate?

Through joining my program and learning how to eat the right foods at the right times and change her behaviors, she was able to finally I feel confident she was on the path to long-term weight loss. She said the best part was she didn’t feel deprived and was already seeing results.

You can do this too! Click the link in bio ⬆️ to join my program. I teach women what to eat and how to eat to achieve the best outcome from bariatric surgery.

Double tap ❤️ if you love chips. I don’t think I have met someone who doesn’t? 🤷‍♀️

My new clients are always so worried that I am going to give them a list of foods not to eat. Some people think I’m the food police. 👮 I promise I’m not!

Instead I give a list of recommended foods and how to eat your favorite foods. I don’t want anyone to feel deprived. Imagine measuring out a portion of your favorite chips, sitting at the table without distractions, and savoring each bite. 😀

You can eat your favorite foods and maximize your weight loss. Click on the link in my bio ⬆️ and apply for my group coaching program to be ready for bariatric surgery.

Raise your hand if you can relate to either of these confessions.🙌🏻

It’s been a week since I’ve last posted. I made a goal to post every day and this week I failed miserably. As I was thinking how to redeem myself, this post came to mind. I’m at my parents house today and as I gave the dog a big hug I thought about how their dog is the only dog that I will touch. Otherwise I really don’t like dogs. And I’m sorry to all of you dog lovers out there. Please don’t hate me.

And then I thought about how I really don’t like social media. Then why am I on here? Because I believe in the work that I do. I care for my clients so much that I will get out of my comfort zone and force myself to do something every day that I really don’t like to do. I don’t like taking pictures of myself and seeing my face all over my grid. I don’t like thinking of captions and trying to be creative. But I do it because I want to help you.

Every day I talk to multiple people who are getting ready for bariatric surgery because they feel like it’s the last resort to give them a second chance at life. I believe in the surgery and I believe in them. That’s why I force myself to do these things that I don’t like to do.

Can you relate in anyway? Are there things that you hate to do? Meal plan? Exercise? Think about why you want to eat emotionally? If so, next time you want to skip those things, think about me and how I don’t like to post on social media. And, if you go a week without doing something good for yourself, give yourself some grace and forgiveness. Just like I am forgiving myself for not meeting my social media goal.

We can do this together. I can help you be ready for surgery and your second chance at life. Click on the link in my bio to apply for my group coaching program.
