Make sure to have that talk with your kids in regards to fire safety. It’s not responsible to play with fire. Not only did the Osceola Fire Department have to respond to this call but another incident that occurred on the northern part of the Osceola’s fire district. So while at the first call resources had to leave to go to a second incident. If the first incident never had occurred those resources would of had a better response time to the second incident.

I encourage everyone to go out to cast their vote tomorrow. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I would like to address about the new EMA truck and some things our EMA has done for the county that lead me to vote the way I did. Let me first say I’m not posting about it to cause any controversy that might get posted in the comments. Our EMA has been very proactive in the various situations we have had in the county in the past years. He has assisted with getting water over to Murray, Covid, and even helping out local law enforcement agencies. There was a day that a page came out for an individual who was out in some crp that injured himself. No way for any trucks to get back there. That’s when the EMA had a utv that cost the tax payers only $128 that was able to be brought out to assist in the rescue. The current truck our EMA drives is to small to pull a few of the trailers and equipment the county has to be able to utilize when a disaster occurs (which we have a generator that the state delegated to our EMA to keep in the area. This gives Clarke County the first chance to use it in case of power outages/disasters.) The project as a whole is around $76,000 that’s to purchase and outfit the truck. The current Dodge pick up will go over to the Sheriff to utilize as his patrol vehicle. The Sheriff is do for a new vehicle. Each year $50,000 is budgeted in the Sheriffs budget to purchase and outfit a new patrol vehicle. There would of been a year that it would have to been doubled do to having one more deputy added to the county if we don’t push the current EMA truck to the Sheriff. I’m all about the public safety of our county. I know it might cost to employee and outfit our sheriffs office but also I as a supervisor try to lessen the burden of having to levy more for the budget. I felt that this was a good way to due so since the funding for the new EMA truck is coming from ARP funds. Originally ARP funds was given out for Covid response and let me say our EMA and Public Health had the major roles in that. I have to agree with a statement I read if we didn’t take in the ARP funds they would of gone to another county or state. I saw it as away to bring some of our taxes dollars back to the community and reinvest those dollars. Can you see the good in keeping our county prepared and have mitigation plans in place for any future disasters/situations the county might face?

Citizens of Clarke County this time last year I was Clarke County Supervisor elect. One item I hung my hat on was public safety and with having the hunger to assist any way I can to expand the resources for our first responders (law enforcement, fire, and ems). Seeing the heart-breaking tragedies that are reported about any type of incident at a school has truly made me think about what can I do to keep my pledge to assist in improving our public safety and resources. Started to look at four emergency radios for the Murray and Clarke school district. It was a collaborative effort on this system and couldn’t be a possibility without the efforts from the county wide agencies and my fellow supervisors.
This project if passed by the board will have four radios that will be placed within the school districts around the county. The radios have a big orange button on the front of it. That button activates an open frequency straight to the Clarke County dispatch. That channel will stay open for thirty seconds for transmission without any other interruptions from other radios that are utilized through out the county. Some my ask why have them when you can utilize a phone? In any form of incident, a dispatch center generally receives more than one phone call. Multiple phone calls at the same time not just to dispatch but to the general public can cause phone issues in a time of need. I truly believe this can be a crucial system for our school district and assist in the safety of the kids of both Murray and Clarke school district.
I heard about this being a resource we can add within an overall project the county is currently working on and I told the two other supervisors we have to look into these radios to assist in improving our school’s safety. They both agreed that this was a crucial piece that we need to look into for the projected plans. The project currently isn’t out to be voted on yet for the board. It will be posted on the agenda per Iowa Code Chapter 21 and the various subsections under it. You can locate open meeting laws in this chapter. I would like the public to know that we see the crucial need to always improve the counties public safety (resources). This project is truly being fine tooth comb to determine the best direction for the county. Each option we have looked at has the option for the school radios. Once the project is further along and decision is made for which company to go with for the project, I will have an update and possible video link I can share to help for the understanding on how the system works.
To end my update, I would like again express my gratitude to all the citizens of Clarke for voting and choosing me to serve as your district 3 supervisor. Coming down to my first year completed I have truly learned a lot and want to express a thank you to both Dean Robins and Larry Keller for assisting in having a hand in that.

Sincerely,
Austin M. Taylor

Tomorrow is the day. I encourage everyone who can go vote to stop at your designated voting location and cast a 🗳. If unfamiliar with your voting location you can call up to the Auditor’s office(641-342-3315) for further voting(location) information. The employees who make up the Auditor’s office I would like to thank them for their time and work they put in to making the election process capable.

Unfortunately we had a house fire in town early this morning. I want to give a huge thanks to the men and woman that serve on Osceola FD and the Murray FD for the mutual aid. A huge thanks to Mr. Shane Blakely for coming out and working with us on taking two trees down that was a hazard to the property next door. I was able to get a hold of Shane pretty quickly and with no hesitation he was willing to come out. I tell you this is what makes me proud of living in Clarke County. This is why I ask you to support local businesses they sure are willing to help the community when needed. Want to give a thanks to the people at Clarke County Public Health. I keep going back to this post to edit it. The ones that respond to the scene sometimes forget about giving thanks to the ones behind the scene. I want to give Hillary McCoy a huge shout out for a job well done for being her first couple of weeks(solo) as a new dispatcher and dealing with a high stress situation to make sure the people on the ground of the call have the resources and information to keep everyone safe.

15/04/2021

I want to clarify that the April 5th notice for the Clarke County BOS is not correct. I Supervisor Taylor voted Nay on the 85% for Brooke Caldwell salary increase from 80%. That is the percentage that is given of the elected official(Treasurer) salary. I’m wanting to be transparent with my votes so I wanted the public to know. I’m not a huge advocate to use social media but the people of the county need to know.

04/11/2020

I have been watching the presidential election and apologize for not reaching out yet. Let’s say my heart like everyone’s has been racing with how close this election is. I want to give a big thank you to everyone who went out and voted. A big thank you for the people who voted for me. My fellow residents helped me win with over thousand more votes then the incumbent and that is huge. I was amazed and truly honored that my fellow residents are giving me a chance to help improve our county. I will say in this position it’s not going to be easy starting out but I guarantee that I’m going to fight for the people.

02/11/2020

I woke up today just as a normal day after having a call last night of service. I check my phone and to my surprise had multiple messages giving me words of encouragement or thank you for running for District 3 seat. It’s getting closer to ballot count and want to give a thanks to everyone who voted for the change that this county needs. I truly appreciate knowing my fellow residents believe in such a driven young man that wants the best for them. If you haven’t casted a ballot you can go in to the courthouse today tell 5pm or go vote tomorrow on Election Day at your designated voting spot. If undecided on who to vote for let me tell you I’m here to stop the wasteful spending of tax money, look into tax cuts, bring in more federal grants, try to have some of the best first responder service in the state. Not everyone knows EMS is not considered an essential service yet. All three services I want to make sure can get to your family. As being in one of those services I can tell you there has been roads a fire apparatus can’t get down or cross the bridge to certain residents without taking a detour. Seconds can save a life. I want your family to sleep well at night knowing someone is wanting to put in the effort to make sure your family can have a higher quality of life living in Clarke County. Different variables make up what one might consider higher quality. Mine would be everything I listed above that I want to help improve. I have had to work for every dollar. Grew up in foster care and knew what it was like living in poverty. As a caring human it makes me sad seeing people struggle to make a living. A lot of families live pay check to pay check and taxes can be looked at for my fellow residents to leave more of your hard working money in your possession.

Thank you again!!

30/10/2020

Clarke County Residents I want to apologize if I haven’t made it to your house to talk to you yet. I have been working on getting to as many doors as possible on my campaign trail. This week has not been as successful getting out due to having multiple structure fires throughout the week. Osceola Fire has responded to 4 major structure fires this weeks. I want to give my fellow brothers & sisters on the department some praise for all the hard work, dedication, and the strength to respond even over the lack of sleep. Also thank you to all the surrounding departments for assisting on a majority of our calls. We as a whole have to help each other. An that’s why I’m running for supervisor. Even though I live in Osceola I’m still thinking about the other towns. That’s why I have spent most my time out in Murray, Woodburn, and the county as a whole. I’m willing to get gravel dust on my vehicle just to come check out issues through the county and to talk to you. I’m here for the people. So I’m asking you to please vote for me as a vote for the people. An even if your vote doesn’t go for me as an American I respect your right to vote and that your opinion matters.

Thank You!

I spent time this evening knocking on as many doors as I could in Murray. Im still knocking on doors tell the day of the election. I’m wanting everyone to know I’m always willing to come to your door or be a phone call away. As a firefighter for Osceola I know serving a community drives my integrity. An I’m not one to lose my integrity to help the people. I have to say even if not voted as the new supervisor for District 3 it’s nice to know more people in the community. I appreciate everyone that gave me a few moments to talk with them.

Survey for the residents of Clarke County.
How many of you can currently attend a supervisor meeting at 8 am in the morning?

Photos from Austin Taylor-Clarke County Supervisor Dis. 3's post 24/10/2020

So today I traveled a majority of the county to look at the roads also trying to talk to fellow residents. I was able to meet with a few that were home. It’s a crazy time to meet with county residents with a lot of you working long hours to provide for your family, harvest among us, and COVID effecting 2020. So if anyone would like me to swing by to talk about why they should cast their vote for me I would like to do so. I will be going all over the county to talk to people but willing to make special visits or to check out areas around the county you might have noticed some issues with. I also have to say that this position requires a lot out of the person. I realize that it will take a lot of learning, time, and will power but I’m wanting to have that opportunity. It’s like starting a new job of any kind. Your not going to be completely qualified before starting the job. Back in 2014 I joined the Osceola Fire Department and didn’t know anything about it but I knew I had the heart and will to help others. So I gave up blood, sweat, and tears to learn and gain knowledge to be able to perform the duties of a firefighter. What I have learned from that also is the learning process never ends. In the fire service methods of the job change. The reason I bring that up is the job as county supervisor position also is always learning because you won’t know everything. Laws do change all the time and could affect the job position. So I can say that yes I did mention I wasn’t completely qualified but I’m willing to put that time in. Please go out on November 3rd and vote for change. Here also is a few pictures I took today.

20/10/2020

Last night was a first for me in the fire service. An I have to say without the help of the people from our community it wouldn’t of happened as easily to complete last nights call of service. I’m sitting here writing this post as a candidate for Clarke County District 3 Supervisor. I would like to extend a big thank you to a few people who don’t have obligations to get out of bed to respond to assist. So a big thanks to Larry Kirscher, Cody Wright & his team, and Osceola Vet Clinic. With the assistance from these people we where able to complete the call of service. Reason I am writing this is to show you how blessed we are to live in such a wonderful community. These are prime examples of good hearted people that live in this county. An it would be an honor to be a voice for people like that. Last night shows why I really chose to run for this position. This county needs to be maintained to match the pride that all you have as residents! So I ask for your vote November 3rd for someone who truly is in it for the people.

16/10/2020

Residents of Clarke County I am asking for your vote this election. I believe I can work hard and always be honest with my fellow residents in regards to the county use of tax money, secondary roads, equipment, and more. This county shouldn’t be maintained only when elections are coming up. It should be maintained 365 days. So go out and chose someone who came up from hardship and understands the working class.

Clarke County residents he is trying to point you towards the right direction on who to put into District 3. Go out and vote November 3rd. What do you have to lose to try and have someone new into office. Im here running for the people of Clarke County.

I’m looking at putting out yard signs if anyone who wants to support a young man that has the best intentions to help the people I ask you to let me put one up in your yard. I’m wanting to make a difference and I can’t do that without the support of the citizens of Clarke County.

Thank You, Austin Taylor

Good Morning Clarke County Residents!

It’s getting closer to that time for us to do our part and go vote 🗳. I encourage everyone to go vote during this general election while following the new guidelines we are under with COVID-19. As a citizen of this great country we live in we have heard many people from federal, state, and local level speak of making changes. Hearing remarks that some political candidates speak of change but don’t provide while they set in office. I can tell you I’m just like everyone else I’m not a politician I’m here for the people. I want to see Clarke County as a place to live for the people. Have conservative spending while trying to bring in grant money to help build upon our infrastructure and public safety. I’m big on wanting to make sure for future generations they will be proud to work on their parent’s or grandparent’s farm. An to the ones who don’t farm will enjoy raising their family here in Clarke County.

Thank You!!

I would like to say Woodburn Cafe did it again!! On this cold rainy week we have had I decided to go enjoy their warm delicious beef stew which it hit the spot. I’m all about supporting small businesses and having growth in each of the towns that make up Clarke County.

Sorry it’s been a while since I have posted last. I have been working on two summer college classes. Also I’m writing this post to recognize two individuals who I have enjoyed doing business with. Had my car detailed twice now by Jessica and Brandon. They are local residents who do great work so I highly recommend to check with them before going anywhere else. I advocate for supporting up in coming business ownership and small businesses in our community. Also my fellow neighbors have a great 4th of July and stay safe.

Thank You!!

This is a few photos of what my life looks like. I would not change it for the world. Serving my community so I know it’s better for my fellow residents and my own family. Today I got to enjoy my nieces birthday and also had the privilege to honor a 16 year veteran of the National Guard. In the ultimate picture I want to say thanks to the service of our men and woman who can say they have signed those papers to be a member of a service. They are the people that make days like today possible and for us as citizens to go out and vote to voice our opinions. They deserve the ultimate gratitude from the community. This post is meant to be a spotlight for those who give(given) me the opportunity to enjoy days like today. Truly blessed to live in Clarke County, Iowa. An truly honored to fly those colors.

I had a resident write a comment on my post stating “ we heard about change before.” I could have it worded a little different but the concept was the fact it has been said that change is coming but the residents don’t feel that change has occurred. I like to explain myself to every question or comment I receive. Sitting here wishing it wasn’t taken down because all of my fellow residents need to be asking these questions. I’m pleased that this comment was made because we do need change. I’m not going to share who wrote the comment so I ask everyone not to ask me. This person I respect as a human being and someone I have talked with before he is doing what every voter should do. Go out and ask those hard questions that we need to answer for you the voter. My response to that question was going to be: I know that it has been stated before. I know how it is to really work for my money. From being raised from poverty to financial stability. That there is a major change in my life. So if I can change my lifestyle like that then I have the drive to make change. It is built in the person if they care enough to make change. Money or a budget shouldn’t restrict how much you care. This county is my home!! If anyone have any questions I’m willing to answer.

03/06/2020

I would like to thank everyone in Clarke County who went out and used their power/voice to vote or sent in absentee ballet. I will do a follow up post in a few days I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know these votes are change.

Thank You!

01/06/2020

I’m sitting here at Family Table at the first day back open for lunch I have to say they are doing great for having a huge crowd showing up. As an elect and resident of Clarke County I enjoy supporting small businesses. As a self employed person I know how it is to get support from a community. That time is upon us, yes that’s right it’s time to vote. I encourage everyone to go out and make your voice be heard. As a voter you have the ability to create change. Vote for someone who cares for the county I do that by serving on the Osceola Fire Department an as a Clarke County Fair Board Member. We need someone in office that drives down the county roads that looks for issue areas, that can be open to the community even after courthouse closes, truly can use rational decisions with the county budget when it comes to expenditures. I’m not one that will set back and let your roads wash out and stay that way. I believe one way to resolve this issue is higher quality experience/training with our secondary roads department and aiming for federal grant money. Transparency is something that we all can stand behind and I plan on bringing to the table. If anyone has any concerns that need to be sought out throughout the county contact me. I know we have more issues than just our roads but for the people in this county is a priority issue I want to help try to resolve for you. I can be reached at ataylorbh@gmail com or 515-414-0995.

My fellow residents June 2nd is coming up quick. As a candidate for district 3 supervisor I believe in having a great public service in our community. I have to say this year has been a challenge for everyone and I’m glad as a community we have people who step up to help. I would like to give thanks to the Clarke County Sheriffs Office, Osceola Police Department, Clarke County Emergency Managment, Osceola Vol. Fire Dept., Murray Vol. Fire Dept., Woodburn Vol. Fire Dept., Weldon Vol. Fire Dept., Clarke County Hospital(ambulance), and lastly a huge thanks to the Clarke County Public health. These are all the first line people that have worked so hard to fight the Covid. Not everything is seen first hand on what it takes to complete fighting such a issue. So if you guys see anyone in the above appreciate post give them a big thanks.

07/05/2020

Alright my fellow Clarke County residents I have yard signs I’m looking at placing throughout the county. If I can get some interest in who wants to see an individual in office that wants to work for the people then I ask you to let me put up a yard sign. I’m looking into how we can work on issues that county residents have brought to me that they believe needs to be looked at. I say we because as a community it takes all of us to work together to make Clarke County a wonderful place to raise a family. Support someone who truly has good intentions for you and your family. If anyone wants to text me my number is 515-414-0995 or email @ [email protected]. Also tia for individuals who share my post greatly appreciate it.

Thanks District 3 candidate Austin Taylor.

Stay Safe!!

Photos from Osceola Fire Department's post 03/05/2020

Here you go Clarke County residents!! Take time to read this article. This town is growing and we do need to work along side Clarke County Hospital. Working together this is helping the county. An yes I know everyone wonders what the cost is when it comes to funding such a service. Like the article states that this is mostly funded from Mike at cross ministries with medical donations, grand river ems, and Clarke county hospital giving equipment to the Osceola Fire Department. Also it’s staffed by volunteer members from Osceola. Another great resource for our County.
