At the beginning of the year, we like to reflect on our work, our successes and mistakes, and how to be better this coming year. It is our goal to step up and be better for ourselves and our students.
Whether your path of learning follows music, sports, science, or something else, it can provide a path of passion and success purely for yourself.
We have worked to develop state-of-the-art programs to address the clear needs of students. Our goal is to equip students with the skills and tools they need to be successful in any life path they choose.
According to new data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, the poverty rate of children more than doubled in 2022.
While we work towards a world in which socioeconomic status does not affect opportunity for our youth, today we have to focus on how to help children rise above the situation they are in.
Happy New Year from the Mariano Rivera Foundation!
As we reflect on another year, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our family at MRF, our incredible students, and the amazing communities we have the privilege of serving.
As 2023 comes to a close, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has put forth the effort to continue to make the mission of the Mariano River Foundation a wonderful success.
Without our incredible staff, great students, partners, donors, volunteers, and so many others we could not accomplish what we do.
Thank you for another excellent year!
Happy Holidays from the Mariano Rivera Foundation!
No matter what you celebrate or who you celebrate with, we hope that you have a truly wonderful holiday season.
We are committed to maintaining a level of excellence. Not only for ourselves but for the students, communities, and future we aim to serve.
Families in poor socioeconomic conditions are at a disadvantage and often don't have the opportunities, resources, and relationships to succeed in today's world. We are constantly working to create a world where these disadvantages do not mean you have less of a chance to find success.
Mentorship is not about teaching what you believe is right, but lending your knowledge and experience to help a young person make better choices and be more prepared for the challenges ahead than you were.
This simple act can help them learn the right things all on their own.
There is evidence to support learning through multiple styles. That is why we passionately emphasize our hands-on learning alongside traditional methods in the MRF Learning Center. This can help the brain make stronger connections and store information better, leading to an overall more impactful learning experience.
Every contribution to the Mariano Rivera Foundation helps to fund the programs that directly impact our students. The Learning Center, our mentorship programs, and more all exist because of your generosity, and through that, we can build a better future for all of us.
Although this advice and knowledge is thousands of years old, it still holds true today.
Any journey from learning a new skill to following a dream begins with the first step.
Each of the programs at MRF has been developed to address a clear need. We want to equip the students we serve with the skills and tools they need to be successful now, through their careers, and in life.
At the Mariano Rivera Foundation, we use mentorship to help broaden the ideas and experiences our teens have. When we can show them new paths and passions, the future they unlock is limitless.
According to a recent survey of business leaders, only 40% believe that recent college graduates are prepared to enter the workforce.
This is why we place such a high priority on vocational training, college readiness, and mentorship. Being ready to join the workforce and the community is a huge milestone we want our young people to be prepared for.
Every day our team works for a better community, a better life, and a better future for those who come after us.
From a child growing up in Panama to an MLB star, all the way to receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Mariano's life has certainly had moments that could not have been expected.
It is a reminder to live to follow our own dreams. That is the only way we can achieve them.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Mariano Rivera Foundation!
We are hoping that you have a wonderful holiday filled with great food and a happy family.
As an organization, we are committed to the best. We want the best for our students, the best from our staff, and the best from our partners who share our mission. We are committed to our cause and we will only accept the best to make it happen.
It is our goal to provide new experiences, new opportunities, and new passions to our students and let them follow the dreams they find from those experiences.
One-on-one mentorship is a core tenet of the Mariano Rivera Foundation. When our students have access to individuals from different cultures, careers, and walks of life, it can help them find the path that is right for them.

Building A Better Future for Today’s Youth
We believe the ability to dream and achieve is a missed opportunity for many of our youth, especially those that come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our mission, for the past 19 years, has been to provide youth from impoverished families with an education that will empower them for the future.
Mariano Rivera was born in Panama City, Panama, on November 29, 1969. As a young man, Rivera played soccer and baseball with his friends on the beach during low tide. Without the means to buy baseball equipment, for games, they substituted cardboard milk cartons for gloves, tree branches for bats, and fashioned balls by taping worn-out baseballs and wads of shredded fishing nets. Rivera used this makeshift equipment until his father bought him his first leather glove when he was 12 years old. Mariano married his childhood sweetheart, Clara Diaz. The Rivera’s were blessed with three sons, Mariano, Jafet and Jaziel.
