Bert's Desserts

Bert admits he has not always heeded his mom’s advice and followed the recipe. He says “recipes are a great place to start but after 55 years you learn techniques, the function of the ingredients and intuition kicks in. Baking then becomes an art”

Bert began collecting recipes in his early 20’s. There are over one hundred recipes in our cherished collection. Granny Boone’s peanut brittle. Mamaw’s banana pudding. Aunt Fran’s Italian Crème Cake. And many more… Today are all items on Bert’s Desserts menu.

Our tried-and true- from scratch family recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. Our recipes consist of simple down-home ingredients.

Our founder, Bert Boone, spent 40 years working in the West Texas oil patch. Yet, he baked every chance he could and carried his goodies to Sunday school class to share with friends. Married to his college sweetheart, Deb, spent 35 wonderful years with her before she passed away from breast cancer in 2008. Bert says “I didn’t plan on ever baking again when I lost her. I did not think I would ever find joy again, but Gods got His own plans”.

Bert met his now wife, Susan, through a mutual friend and they were married in April of 2011. Bert and Susan found they share a passion for giving, baking and the simplicity and comfort found in an old fashion way of existing.

After retiring from the oilfield in 2015, they began baking together, just for fun. Fulfilling birthday and holiday requests and gifting their homemade creations to family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.

After retirement, Bert worked part time at a local agency. He took desserts to the staff every week. Bert shares that his coworkers said to him “your baking reminds me of home”.

Thus, the mission of Bert’s Desserts was birthed.

Our goal at Bert’s Desserts is to bring a little taste of home into your day. A home from many years ago. One that was simple. Comfortable. Full of unconditional love.

In 2020, the pandemic hit, and the world shut down. Susan said to Bert “lets bake”. They did not know if the economy would survive. They just baked. They did not know if loved ones would get sick. They just baked. They did not know if fights and flames would consume our city. They just baked.

Bert’s Desserts was born.

Granny Boone. Mamaw and Aunt Fran’s legacy lives on.

Our core value is and will always remain “great quality for a fair price”. We care more about the taste of our products than about fancy decorations. We want to give you the highest quality for the lowest price possible.

Our goal is to bring back pleasant memories that may have been long forgotten. To bring a little taste of home into a sometimes-scary world.

Our key ingredient is love. The smell of sweetness baking in our oven reminds us of the warmth of Momma’s kitchen.

Momma always said, “Bake for people and they will know you love them, they will remember it long after you’re gone”.
