I always try to read each day’s Library Link news. Like before the pandemic, the news has given widely disparate information about how bookstores and libraries have responded to the pandemic. I chose two articles that summarize the gist of articles on Library Link.

Here is one observation:
Technology seems to be a big concern among reading bloggers. I printed two articles that represent concerns about the use of technology (similar to what Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg are facing). One lists 40 questions that developers should ask as they develop new hardware such as computers or robots or software like facial recognition systems. These articles can be sent to you at your request. Post your request here.

The Brownstown Reading Group read a book out loud and presented a skit to go with the story. Audience participation added to the fun. A light luncheon mirrored the story content.

On October 11, 2017 the Annual Board Meeting was held, with 9 people in attendance. Discussion was held regarding the status of the Christian Library and Study Center. As we no longer have a brick and mortar presence, and our books have been sold, we have chosen a new name for our organization. We voted to rename the group and now identify ourselves as the Readers' Fellowship.

We now have five book discussion groups, with the help of Joann Bowman. Three groups meet in homes, one group meets at the Brownstown American House senior facility, and one meets in a church hall.

The Brownstown group will be creating paper quilt squares that tell the story of the Freedom quilts made by slaves to lead the way to the North. The symbols and their meanings were found in various library books. Hopefully they could be on display at the
Downriver Council for the Arts.

A Fellowship meeting will be held in January, 2018. Next year's Annual Board Meeting will be held October 10, 2018. All are welcome to attend both meetings.

For further details, call Joann at 313-388-1748.
