After a Six day trial, Paul Dozois and I obtained a $2,190,140.56 verdict from a great Martin County Jury late last night.

Our client was hit by a car while on her bicycle in December 2014. She suffered a neck injury and mild traumatic brain injury. She is a wonderful, deserving person.

It was an incredibly tough case we took over from another firm, defended by two of the best defense attorneys in South Florida.

We closed the year out today with a mini-post Christmas-Party mini-Christmas lunch at the office. Every year I like to thank the people that work with me (nobody works “for me”) with gifts and an early day followed by closing the office beteeen Christmas and New Years. So handbags, jewelry and briefcases for all.

We had a wonderful Christmas party the past Saturday at Banco Cantina (no videos or photos - so there are no issues with blackmail …). Many of us have questions about “Last ‘Saturday Night’”. lol.

It’s always nice to say “Thank You” to everyone who make my life easier.

Cheryl, Paul, Audrey, Carolina, Shari, Rico, Karena, Kristina, Neal, Lynn, Charlene, thank you, thank you, thank you. From me, from the clients (past, present and future), and from “The Office”. We cannot do what we do alone. I takes a village.

2023 saw us help many people get through hard times. A handful of trials. All successful to varying degrees. A couple great liability and damages verdicts. One great liability verdict that should come back for another round of the damages. And many goals reached and set for the future.

We saw almost zero turnover in staff. A continually growing trial practice, presuit practice, and workers compensation practice. It’s been wonderful to watch and be a part of.

2024 will bring on a new, challenging year.

2023 saw an attack on our rights as humans and citizens in the country and this state. Rights were stripped from our injured, from our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children, parents, EVERY HUMAN. From this physically hurt or killed, to those whose property were damaged or destroyed.

To all the people and companies staring up into the fiery eyes of gigantic, trillion dollar insurance company machines; staring them down; saying “We are tired of being stepped on. We will fight you!!!” - I and everyone who works with me promise this - WE WILL STAND WITH AND FIGHT FOR YOU.

I sent an offer to an insurance carrier today for $13,000,000. I ran the numbers on what the carrier has EARNED from delaying settlement in this case for 6 years. It was over $10,000,000 in interest earnings. Simply by holding onto the money my clients needs to cover his permanent disabilities caused by a driver hitting him at over 100mph when he was only 27 years old allowed the carrier to MAKE $10M. This is their game. This is how they make money. And how they keep their money.

They have a chance to do the right thing next week. If they don’t, I have 100% confidence the jury of their peers will force them too. The tune of an exceptionally large number commensurate with the devastation they are responsible for making right.

We’ve got 1-2 trials set for every month from January through November. And quite a few major cases with catastrophic spinal cord and brain injuries along with difficult (extremely difficult) liability and damages cases. We do it all. We will try a case in any court, in any county, in any state in this great country.

Most of our cases will be decided using the greatest Amendments and Articles we have.

The Seventh Amendment to the US Constitution (tattooed on my right forearm) and Article 22 of the Florida’s Constitution. Both ensuring that “We The People” have the unconditional right to a Trial By Jury in civil cases.

To Everyone at the office and within my own home, I cannot do it without all of you.

I pray my post this time next year will be about the triumphs over big insurance many times this year. About many human beings we have helped through the worst terrifyingly painful time of their life’s. And we can end 2024 and an even higher note than 2023.

My office has had such great success on cases where Harris appeals gets involved. All you lawyers out there should be using them for both litigation support and appellate practice. Whenever the need arises.

Congratulations to our appellate team on a recent victory in the First DCA. In this case, where our client was catastrophically injured, Andrew and Grace won an appeal of an order denying one defendant’s motion to dismiss the plaintiff’s complaint for lack of personal jurisdiction. The trial court ruled that the defendant had waived his personal jurisdiction defense by failing to raise it in his initial motion to dismiss, and the appellate court agreed. The appellate process is now final as the appellate court recently denied the defendant’s motion for rehearing. The case will now proceed to trial against the defendant and other co-defendants. This case is an example of the importance in retaining appellate counsel at the trial court level to ensure arguments are preserved for any appeal.

Regal Cinemas Royal Palm Beach 18 RPX is terrible. I’ve been trying to reach them for more than 30 minutes. Calling their 844 number, being transferred to the royal palm cinema, only to have someone pick up, not say anything , then Hang up after 20 seconds or so. 7 TIMES!!!

All because my daughter left something at the cinema and we are following what the cinemas’ guidelines are for reaching them and getting the item back.

Great customer service ….

Jessica Felice and I had such a great time at Palm Beach County Justice Association High Roller Night last night. It was a celebration of the decades long run the association has gone through.

It also doubled as a charity event for Jay Scarola Sage Settlement Consulting’s Angel Foundation. A Foundatuon focused on helping people who have suffered major injuries that have set their life into a tailspin.

18 years ago today, I took the Oath of Attorney and began practicing law. There have been low valleys and high as can be mountaintops for me to travel over those years. And all of it has been wonderful. Even the bad, truly rough times.

I started as an insurance defense lawyer at Conroy Simberg & Ganon. Then opened up a plaintiffs only practice in February 2008.

I work with an incredible staff including top notch lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants. All of which truly care about our clients and are devoted to seeking Justice for those souls.

I’m supported by the most incredible wife, Jessica Felice, who recently finished her masters in clinical mental health. She will be using those incredible tools gifted upon her during her education to help Felice Trial Attorneys clients through tough times and preparing for major litigation events and trial. Along with my mother, Cheryl Felice, one of our office managers, and three great monsters (I mean kids), Noah, Annabelle, and Julia together with six (yes six) dogs. I am truly blessed to have family surrounding me at home and at work.

We’ve tried three cases this year already. Two we won. The third was a mistrial. We will be trying another 5-9 before year’s end. I feel that there is nothing we can’t do as an office.

This journey started decades ago when a college dropout found himself in the stacks of Barnes & Noble after closing the Bar he worked at early. That night a book was bought. And read cover to cover over the next two nights. That book changes his life.

That same kid got back into college and did well. Moved to paradise and finished an associates degree in Broward County. Only to take and finish 58 upper level college course credits in ONE YEAR and graduate Magna Cum Laude from Florida Atlantic University. (And was pi**ed he missed summa cm laude by .01 points or so).

Followed by a week when he got his first admissions letters into multiple law schools, got approved for his first mortgage and contracted to buy his first house, and met the woman of his dreams (literally in a 5 day span). Best week ever!!

He went on to graduate from Nova Southeastern Law School and has been practicing civil law for almost two decades.

Plus, he not only met the author of the book that changed his life and got to tell him parts of this story but also got to workshop arguments on cases and help in the creation and promotion of his new school for trial lawyers, Gerry Spence Method.

I have met many a lawyer, a teacher, on this road. Many thanks to all of you for giving me the knowledge, the compassion, the drive, and the fight to make it here and to keep going.

And forever thanks to Jessica Felice and the kids, y’all (lol) are the best things about me.

Thank you to the lawyers and staff at the firm. You make my life easier and allow me the time to grow, learn, and prepare for the ultimate battle any lawyer undertakes, a trial by jury.

Our courtroom walls are going up. I can’t wait to teach and learn in that courtroom with some of the best lawyers, consultants and psychologists in the world! It should be ready in a few months.
