Ash and Apple Woodworks
Wood products made from wild woods, shaped
Doe mandible on red cedar branch.
Cynefin(Welsh): Place where in the air feels correct around you. Somewhere you ought to belong
Exciting new projects on the way! This wood better be used at the end of a show because it's an apple-log....
I'll stick to sawing things
Quick white cedar carve for a family member. Didn't want to disrupt the beautiful Spalding with a varnish so I left the nature color. This was a quick 30 minute job that was really only stripping and sanding with two quick saw cuts. Something like this would run 25$ plus shipping.
Edit: Due to some misunderstandings I should clarify that I did not and do not make these knives. They're made by Opinel, a highly regarded French company that's been around well over a century. I just love advertising good products
In case anyone was curious what I do my carving with, this is my custom Opinel no. 8. I've never had a more reliable piece of equipment for such a low price. I have three customizations on this particular knife which drove up the price to around 60$, but the standard beech handled no. 8 comes out to just about 20$. It's cheap enough that I was able to order custom models for all of my family in different states as Christmas gifts. It's sturdy, light, and stays razor sharp with the right whetstone. I could not recommend a better edc tool knife.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with a clip, but I was gifted a leather carrying sheath from Gentlestache which works excellently. It is also not a quick draw knife. If you're looking for something to open with one hand, or something to carry as a self defense tool, I would recommend looking elsewhere. The last note is that there are two options for the steel used on the blade when ordering from the official website. One is a carbon steel and one is a stainless steel. If you're new to collecting knives, you may have been dissuaded from stainless steel due to the high volume of low quality stainless steel products on the market. When I ordered my first Opinel I had thought the same and ordered the carbon blade. This was a mistake. The carbon is by no means a low quality steel, but I live and do most of my woodworking in a swamp and under very wet conditions. My blade began collecting surface rust very quickly that I didn't know how to clear off. The stainless steel used is of high quality and I'm no way comparable to the cheap on steel used on lesser knives. If you're working in wet conditions, I highly recommend opting for the stainless steel option.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday and I'm excited to update y'all with more projects in the near future. Happy carving!

Good afternoon my friends, I have decided to create a page specifically designed for my wood and staff works. I don't expect much interaction or traction, but should you feel the desire to commission an art piece or purchase something premade from a young artist, this might be the page you're looking for. Follow along with me as I create new products, and always feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you!
