Studio day 6
Hello, everyone!
I thought I would take the time to reintroduce myself.
I am Maggie, the artist behind Maggie Dillon Designs, Art Quilter.
I started quilting in the late-90's when I was in 6th grade. I made a Christmas quilt with my best friend, who was also 11... and the rest is history.
I am completely obsessed with fiber art all things {modern} quilty.
When I went to art school, I had dreams of becoming an artist. I did not know what that meant at the time, and I am so grateful for my creative journey into art quilting. I have grown to become a full-time fiber artist, instructor, lecturer, and juror.
I have been creating fiber art since 2008 and theres no end in sight!
I enjoy quiet days in my studio with my son playing nearby. He calls my sewing machine a printer. lol.
We recently started getting outside more and have a few adventures planned for this year! I am excted to bring more nature into my art and can't wait to experience more of the great outdoors!
Day 19: Hood Ornaments
Sewed out all of the 350-400 pins in the bumper details, and used them to affix the metal details to the car.
Got Theo's bug quilt done just in time for the
Saturday, February 3rd from 10am to 2:30pm at Maxine Barrett park in Venice!!
You are still an artist if you pursued another career for financial stability.
You are still an artist if you haven't created in a while.
You are still an artist if you only make art as a hobby.
Make art for you. π
January accountability.
I've been working on two separate pieces, one ART and one MODERN, so TONS of sewing days for January.
Gettin' things DONE!
Day 18: Hood Ornaments
Added the border around the grill. There are approximately 500 pins ready to be sewn out right now.
Day 16: Hood Ornaments
Shaping the car... getting ready to add the license plate and border around the grill.
When not at home, you work on a more portable project. π
My son requested a bug quilt complete with bees, moths and butterflies π¦π
Day 13: Hood Ornaments
Shaping the car... Trying to distinguish between paint and chrome details.
January is looking pretty SEW-y π§΅πͺ‘ποΈ

Happy New Year, everyone!
It is 2024! Can you believe it!?
How do you chime in the new year?
Will you be making creative goals for yourself? I know I will!
I want to create more work!!
THINGS ACHIEVED!
I created 2 1/2 vintage-inspired pieces this year andΒ MILL TOWN BUS STOPΒ is a two time award winner! SO EXCITING!
I created quite a few landscape drawings that I will translate into fiber pieces in 2024. The emphasis will be heavily on quilting and texture.
I got into crochet again and made two cardigans (Iβve never made clothing before), a Gimli beard & a Santa/elf hat for my son.
I was juried into 14 exhibitions/magazines/books in 2023. My goal was 7.
Ready to keep going in 2024!
