Always having measuring cups or food scales is not reasonable. That’s when this trick comes in “handy”. 😉
Hands are a great way to estimate portion sizes. Follow this guide when you’re in a pinch!
This is one of the most common questions we get asked.
Unfortunately you can’t spot reduce body fat. How your body burns fat is actually determined by genetics.
Expect to lose body fat first in the last place you put it on. Example: if your legs are the last place you gain body fat, then it will likely be the first place you see results.
To lose body fat, focus on consistently being in a caloric deficit, meaning the amount of food you eat needs to be less than the amount of energy you burn throughout the day.
The best way to ensure you are in a caloric deficit is to track your food.
Be patient. Be consistent. The results will follow.
Do you have trouble getting in your protein? Here is a super simple high protein snack.
1 can of tuna (I prefer chunk white albacore)
Hummus (supremely spicy is my jam)
Sliced cucumber
Mix the tuna and hummus and use the cucumber slices as a scoop.

When you’re alone and trying to take a picture of self-talk 🤣 but seriously, is self-talk *really* that important when losing weight?
Short and sweet answer: 1000% YES!!!
How I hear my clients speak to themselves is one of the biggest predictors of their success.
Yep, that’s right… I can tell whether a client will reach their goals just by the way they speak to themselves.
Some things I hear are:
- “I’ll never get there.”
- “I can’t believe I ate that.”
- “Why do I suck?”
- “I’m not strong enough.”
I hear your inner critic/bully loud and clear.
Guilt, shame, and judgement should motivate you, right?? No.
Research proves that negative self-talk makes reaching goals practically impossible!
So how do you change this type of talk?
You acknowledge it.
You speak to it compassionately.
You tell yourself the truth.
This can sound like:
- “This is hard, but I can do hard things.”
- “Eating that wasn’t the best choice, but I am back on track.”
- “I made a mistake, and that’s okay.”
- “I am not as strong as I want to be… yet.”
Self-talk is a skill that can be practiced. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
You ARE capable of reaching your goals!

Conditions were challenging… Nerves were high…The trail was muddy… her calves were like “nope”but she still did it and I am so incredibly proud of her.
Thanks to Daniela and Nicole for surprising her at the finish line. I am so grateful for a gym full of women who support and show up for one another.
