Meet Fluffy, the second of our 2 new barn kitties. Fluffy is not snuggly and cuddly by choice, but he is the first one to meet you when you open the door. He wants all the attention and toys. He’s most likely going to be purring the entire time. He is the more adventurous of the two, and much more energetic. He is also not nearly as photogenic as his counterpart Dino, but that could quite possibly be because he doesn’t sit still long enough for a good picture.
Dino 🦖 is one of our 2 new barn kittens. This little guy is the more mellow of the 2 and is happy to be held or to just sit and watch you. He is not going to be the one to run and greet you, but will be the first to fall asleep in your lap. He also really likes to watch the kids tablets, and sit with me while I give lessons.
So excited for our new addition to the arena, 2 boards for students to practice anatomy on, just in time for our “camp” tomorrow! Huge thank you to Alex for her hard work on these, and all her ideas to add more educational boards to the arena.
We have 4 spots open for the 10 and over camp and 1 spot left for the 5-9 camp.
Please message me ASAP if you would like more information or to save your spot.
End summer with 3 hours of horse related fun. This is not a “riding camp” but will still be lots of horsey fun.
Activities will include
*treat making (to take home if you have horses or for horses at the barn if you don’t)
*riding the barrel
*knowledge scavenger hunt
*braiding
*wrapping legs
*balance activities
And so much more!
I have some of the coolest lesson families. Today one of my students brought his big sister and her horse for a double lesson (we have talked about doing it before). Then I Turn around during the lesson and see his super sweet mamma doing Cheyenne’s hair to her exact request, “I want to use all the hair ties and have one big braid”.
My favorite part of coaching is watching them see that the time and hard work they put in is worth it, and seeing them notice where they need to improve.
For some the improvement needed might be within them selves, understanding that their placing is not a direct result of how THEY did and that it might be their best run ever on that event and they still may not place. That placing will come with the confidence that more saddle time will bring.
For others it may finally be realizing that their body position and eyes play a larger role in the horse’s movement than they knew before.
One kiddo hasn’t gamed in two months and had no confidence yesterday, another is riding a horse she has owned for a week and had not sent thru a pattern yet.
The third kid just holds on and laughs the entire time telling his slaves to run faster 🤷🏻♀️.
I’m excited as more of my students start to purchase their own horses and get to participate in more riding than just at their lessons. I have 3 students all coming up looking for horses and wanting to start gaming.
I love growing my barn/student family and can’t wait to have more kids at shows to coach thru the events.
He also spent an afternoon last week mowing the electric fence lines and brushing our back fence so I could get out fences all fixed up from the deer all winter. He did all this right after he finished cutting, raking, bailing, and helping me buck and stack all our hay. We rarely see him around the barn but when we do he’s busting his butt to help me out.
Thank the maintenance man. He came in last night and pushed up our new shavings so we could actually get out this door. Used some child labor to scrape the sides to the middle this morning, and I’ll push the middle back a bit tomorrow. At least we can get out the door again and we don’t have to walk horses from the back field around the entire barn to get in.
Today we thank the maintenance man. Mr. Wide load here has been de commissioned for a few weeks due to a bad tire and a broke out front end. This weekend the maintenance man did what he does best and immageneered a new and improved front end fixed his tire. Old wide load here and the maintenance man are both over worked but very appreciated.
Spring break is over and it’s back to our normal schedule. I am looking forward to getting everyone back on track with lessons! I can’t wait to see you all this week and hear about your spring breaks!
We are down to our last open spots. Message us today. We have a indoor arena to get those frisky spring ponies all tuned up. And it’s getting so close to pasture turn out time, the horses are all ready for some green grass and sunshine! We have 4 big individual pastures we use on a rotation for everyone.
Chilly mornings means the cats snuggle into the hay while the horses eat and I clean stalls.
Come visit our barn and see if you think you and your horse would fit in with our barn family.
We love when horses get to move home with their owners but we are always sad to see them leave.
Tiger has moved home leaving a stall open. Please message us to set up a time to see the barn.
Does it get any cuter than Brantley taking Elsa for a ride on Biscuit while Cheyenne rides Nick?
We have space for a few more furry faces. Message me to schedule a visit to the barn!
With the snowy weather forecast over the next day or so please let us know if you need us to clean your stalls. We will be business as usual at the barn with feeding and watering so don’t worry about your four legged friend not getting the usual care. Please keep yourselves warm and safe, if you cannot or are not comfortable driving in the weather conditions we are more than happy to make sure your ponies stall is clean and comfy for the cold days.
Whiskers, the lover of the three. Whiskers is one of the two we call the boys. We got this guy as a baby and he was raised in the barn. Whiskers can often be found on someone’s shoulders, I give countless lessons with him on my shoulders like a parrot. He is always begging for attention and if you stand to close while he is on something he will crawl into your arms weather you want him too or not. This boy also disappears for days on end. I have not figured out if he’s hunting or if he has found someone to let him in their house. He comes back fat as can be but acts starved so only whiskers knows where he has been.
Muffin is one of our 3 barn cats. She showed up about 2.5 years ago and never left, one of my amazing original boarders named her (it’s much better than “Stray Kitty” I had been calling her). She makes sure we know that she is earning her keep by bringing us her kills if we are in the barn. She is the timid one of the 3. Only letting a few people pet her, but she typically isn’t to far from me if she is in the barn while I’m there. We believe she came from saving graces spay and release program because of her clipped ear.
Sunshine around the barn means letting some ponies enjoy some fresh air and vitamin D. It’s time to start up in the annual spring fence repairs to get all the pastures ready for the ponies!
It’s always refreshing to have a clean asile and freshly worked arena!
We still have a few spots available for boarding.
Full or partial care with hay available on site.
We are also available for lessons on your horse. Our lesson horse is maxed out at the moment but we would love to help you and your horse grow together.
We are family friendly and drama free
Message us today for rates and to schedule a time to come out and see the barn.
Please tell me if you don’t understand.
I had a student last week speak up and say, “I hear you keep saying this but how do I do that, what does it mean?”
I’m here to help you, there is no stupid questions. I want to help you so please tell me when we are speaking two different languages so I can explain in a different way.
