Lesson from a mom… may this be our way of life
Ichi-go, Ichi-e. A Life Lesson from Mom. I resolved this year not to make any New Year’s resolutions, and true to form and true to my history, my resolution fell apart very quickly. It toppled to a heap on New Year’s Day. I visited my Mom…

At this beautiful time of the year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus we can also celebrate the birth of the Global Methodist Church movement!
Join us as the vision for this movement becomes a reality in the Northeast.
Each step along the path to be faithful to scripture leads us closer to living out God's Word as we worship in spirit and truth!
We have many reasons to be grateful and excited about God's plans for the GMC!
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age—Galatians 1:3-4
It's the final week of Advent and Christmas is coming! There's joy in our hearts when we think of the coming of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Yet, what is that joy all about? What is it about Christmas that is Good News?
The Apostle Paul, writing to the Galatians, gives us the Good News: Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age. Now, that's not usually one of our Advent devotional readings, but in that one statement is Christmas, Easter, and every other celebration of our faith!
The Lord Jesus Christ gave himself - we often equate Jesus' sacrifice with Good Friday, when Jesus willingly went to the cross to pay the price for the sin of all humanity, including mine and yours. Yet, before Jesus walked that road to Calvary, He was God incarnate (made flesh) as a baby born to a virgin in a little town of Bethlehem. Talk about giving yourself! Jesus is God and he willingly made himself nothing in regard to the status and power that comes with being God (see Philippians 2) in order to become like us, humans. Jesus took on the form of a human so that we would know that God knows what it's like to be human. Everything God does He does for you and me, because of the deep love He has for us, even as far as giving up His Son at Christmas.
..for our sins to rescue us - The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the Good News! Why? Because without the redemption and rescue of God through Jesus Christ, we would not be able to restore our relationship with God nor save ourselves from an eternity apart from God in hell. The cross and empty tomb are incredibly powerful movements of God's plan. Yet, it all began in the manger, when Jesus gave himself to being human for our sake, so that when the time came, He would give himself up fully to the death and resurrection God planned. The redemption and rescue began at Creation, became manifest at the incarnation, was fully enacted at the cross, pivoted and was launched on the third day, and will be completed when Jesus returns. Yet, for us, it began on that Silent Night.
The Good News is good for us because we have a loving and gracious God who made a way for us to be reconciled back into the family of God and rescued from our sin. This Christmas, as you spend time at the manger, singing about this Jesus who gave himself for us, remember the full story of God's plan of redemption and rescue. To God be the Glory! Joy to the World! Merry Christmas!
