Unit G307 at the Papakea
Unit G307 at Papakea Resort in Maui
Congratulations to Judy (our Austin neighbor) for being the lucky winner of 8 Maui Gold Pineapple! Thank you so much for all who donated!! Our friends are over the moon happy!
We have raised $4250 so far! I have family that would Zelle to me directly for this effort thank you!
Thank you all who have donated so far! I will inform our friends of your generosity this week. I am sure they will be OVER THE MOON happy as they have no income now and unlike COVID there is no monthly funds to help.
Michael and I wanted to thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts. To add a little competition to this effort I wanted to announce that for every $50 donated your name will be put into a drawing one time for 25lb MAUI GOLD pineapples (a $100 value). For those who have visited Maui and have tried MAUI GOLD you know how AWESOME these pineapples are! Our son only eats pineapple from Maui Gold because there is no after taste, and it is SO sweet!
The lack of tourism on the island causes the excess of Maui Gold on island so this too is an effort to help the local Maui vendor.
A winner will be announced when we conclude our fundraising. We will order from MAUI GOLD and ship directly to you (I don't know if it can be ship to Canada).

While the Papakea resort was spared in the devastated Lahaina wildfire, our friends were not. Luretta, Shirley, and Marites have been taking great care of our condo and our guests, and now they need our help. Shirley, and Marites lost their houses in the fire and Luretta is displaced.
Would you join us to help Luretta, Shirley, and Marites to rebuild their lives?

After 11 months away from our home away from home, we finally are back on Maui. A big thank you to our previous guests and our cleaning crews who have been taking good care of the condo.
We arrived on Maui at 9pm last night. With the pre-cleared wristband given to us from our departure gate in San Diego, we were able to quickly leave the airport without having to stop to fill out any paperwork.
Picked up the car from Avis was super easy without having to stop by the rental counter. We got to our condo quickly since we couldn’t stop by Costco to stock up supplies due to the late hours.
Front Street was a bit crowded on Friday afternoon but that wasn’t anymore than pre-pandemic crowd. Every other places we went were not crowded at all. Then again, the only places we have been to are Times Supermarket, ACE Hardware and Prison Street Pizza. Not exactly tourist’s hot spots. Parking lot are full at the Papakea but the pool wasn’t too crowded.
It was heavenly to be able to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on the balcony. Even with having to wake up at 4:45AM to get ready for 8:00AM conference calls on the west coast.
View from our lanai - thanks Anne.
Just another day in paradise. Thank you Anne! 🌸🍍🏝
Our guest tropical drinks! Video doesn’t want to upload. Missing our Maui home
Our AOAO recently released a promotional video of the Papakea resort. Make me want to get back there again. We will have to wait until summer when our kids get out of school.
We recently have a new set of pictures taken. They were uploaded to our VRBO listing and website but I didn't get around to upload them to FB until now.
Wishing this is our dinner view tonight! Wish we are still in Maui!
The calm before the storm. Put away all the lanai furniture.
We will be riding out the hurricane at Unit 317 at The Mahana
Papakea G307 Walk through of our condo
Staging completes. Quyen’s vision came to life. The condo looks fabulous. The is no way my son and I can set setup the condo if Quyen didn’t come over to take over the setup.
The camera can’t capture how magnificent and idyllic it is in the morning. The only place that I imagine would be better than this is to be on the sailboat on the calm ocean. The sailboat can be seen clearly with my eyes but it is only a small spec on the picture.
Another room finishes. The livingroom is the last to be setup.
Bedroom setup is complete (sans curtain) with adjustable HD TV and AC unit.
Quyen has transformed a small and enclosed bedroom into a bright and welcoming space where we can rest on a super comfortable bed, relax by reading a book or watching TV. The TV can be pulled out and swivled to a comfortable viewing angle.
The bedroom is finally setup. The curtain is making its way to the island.
Enjoying a quiet night in paradise
The lanai is fully furnished. We use it every day for lunch and dinner.
I am still amazed how lucky we are getting this unit with the amazing view last August.
Has been working all day setting up the bedroom. Will have more pictures of the bedroom to share soon.
Renovation is coming to an end. Countertop and furniture are being delivered next week.
The remodeling is shaping up nicely. The Quartz countertop will be in shortly. The AC unit was installed today. A very beefy unit that will keep the living room and the bedroom cool during the hottest days.
Our furnitures and other items are crossing the Pacific Ocean as we speak. All new appliances will be installed soon.
Quyen M. Pham’s vision is turning into reality. and they look spectacular.
Cabinets went in today, and they look amazing!
Quyen finally got the two-tone, modern kitchen she always wanted.
This picture was almost a week old. The lightning was off because the natural light couldn’t get deep into the interior of the condo at the time the picture was taken.
I had to lighten the image a bit to get the tiles’ color to match what it actually looks like.
Probably a bit more white washed than it is: but close enough. 🙂
The transformation continues.
Tiles floorings are next.
We hope everyone are staying safe. We are three weeks into the remodeling, and things are going as planned. We are really hoping that we can be back to there soon.
Winter 2021 calendar are filling up. The whole February is booked, and 1/3 of January is gone.
If you have not made up your mind on the dates, don't take too long to decide; or you will miss the 2021 whales watching season altogether.
