Bear is a 30 something blue and gold macaw. She is one of the aviary's foster residents. She is special needs and is unable to walk or fly. She uses her beak like a hand and pulls her self around. She was born with her disabilities and was with one family her whole life until they were unable to care for her due to their age. She also has a carrier she uses when she goes on outdoor adventures. She loves to dance and say Hello.

A parrots breakfast here at the aviary. On the menu today, strawberries, bananas, cooked pasta and peppers all topped with chai seeds. Did you know birds need a well balanced diet of fruits and vegetables? The seed mix you can buy at pet stores should only be a treat and their diet should consist of mostly pellets and fresh fruits and veggies. Birds are unable to process fats the way humans do and this can lead to health issues as your bird ages if they have a seed mix diet. But don't worry, seed and nuts are perfect for treats!

Bee is a permanent resident at the rescue. She is a 35 year old blue front Amazon. Bee came to us when her owner was diagnosed with dementia. She is special needs so she will live out her days with us. We believe that she may be epileptic or suffer from artherosclerisis that causes her to have seizure like episodes. More on how to care for an seizing bird later. The vets have not been able to pin point the diagnosis. She also has separation anxiety and screams when she can't see her favorite human. Otherwise she is happy and healthy. She loves singing off key and yelling at the human children in the house when they aren't behaving. ❤️

Permanent Resident Bird Bird. Bird Bird is a four year old Blue and Gold Macaw. In his own words "I'm good bird". Bird Bird spends his days giving high fives in hopes of getting a pistachio or other favorite treat. Macaws are large and loud. They require wooden toys to shred, lots of space and attention, and a fresh food diet in addition to pellets to keep their feathers healthy. Stay tuned to our page to meet our other birds!
