Teri, Denise and I all worked together helping others get health with Optavia.
MacKenzie graduated with her Bachelors of Nursing the weekend of her accident which has left her paralyzed.
Please consider donating and aharing her Go Fund Me. We can’t wait to hear she’s regained her ability to walk.

The AAP recommends introducing allergenic and non-allergenic foods, including peanuts at around 6 months of age.
There is evidence suggesting that earlier rather than delayed introduction could potentially help prevent the development of food allergies.
Easy recipe for introducing peanuts:
-one egg
-1/2 banana
-1/2 tsp peanut butter
Mash together, melt a little butter on a pan, cook batter (pancake shaped) until golden brown
🦷 Can babies eat solid food without teeth?
Absolutely! My daughter didn’t have first tooth until 12.5 months. Solids can be started once babies are showing interest (usually around 4-6 months of age). Babies use mainly their gums to break and chew food. Start with soft foods/purées. Avoid hard/round foods such as grapes and hotdogs!
Tummy Time
👶🏻Tummy time is when baby is on tummy while awake and being watched. It can help prevent flat spots on the head and help develop gross motor skills. Start with one or two minutes at a time as newborns and slowly increase the time as they enjoy it!
Is your baby enjoying tummy time? If not, we have tips to make tummy time enjoyable.
Infant jaundice
👀 Jaundice is the yellow color seen in the skin of many newborns. It happens when bilirubin builds up in the blood.
🩸 Infants should have their bilirubin checked at birth and follow up.
☀️ Most jaundice goes away by 2 weeks but some babies may need treatment with phototherapy.
Are you planning on breastfeeding and/or pumping?
Did you know that your health insurance must cover the cost of a breast pump? Your plan may have guidelines on the type of pump and when you will receive it (during pregnancy or after birth).
If you are wondering what kind of pump to get, consider the following:
-will you be traveling? or mainly pumping in one spot
-are you returning to work? does it need to be portable?

Breast-feeding mom transitioning back to work?!
🍼Once breast-feeding is established, introduce a bottle
🍼Give half an ounce of breast milk about 1 to 2 hours after a full feeding when baby is motivated to try
🍼Drip the milk on tongue before putting the ni**le in the mouth
🍼Have another family member feed the bottle
🍼Bottle feed in a different location than nursing
🍼Let the baby explore the ni**le with its lips and tongue
🍼Do not continue if baby crying and frustrated
🍼End on a positive note
🍼If after a few attempts the baby refuses, try a different ni**le
🍼Continue daily bottle at a typical feeding time that will be missed until mom goes back to work

Developmental milestones:
Did you know that your six month old baby should be able to sit upright in a supported position?
This is sometimes known as tripoding as you can see there’s three points of contact for the baby.
Ways to help your baby progress developmentally: tummy time for an early age, holding the baby in a seated position while you support the trunk/abdomen, playing with baby and giving them opportunities to reach for toys.
A baby that cannot do this by 9 months, has head lag, falls over, is not progressing, could have developmental concerns and needs to be seen by their regular care provider.

Sibling Rivalry
As parents to multiple kids, its always our hope that our kids get along and l become great friends. Theres a great book I read recently titled Siblings without rivalry to help reduce hostility and generate goodwill between siblings. Some practical tips include:
1. Stop Labeling. Stop labeling one kid as the “athletic one”, the “smart one”, the “good one”, etc.
2. Stay out of the small arguments. Give them a chance to work it out. If the fight escalates, try to be give them direction, but have THEM come up with solutions
3. Give each child some 1:1 attention. We started doing date days on Saturdays once a month where one parent takes one child to do whatever they want. Be present with them

There’s been some significant shortages of formula in some areas due to supply chain issues and recalls. Are you having problems locating your preferred formula? Here’s some tips from the American academy of pediatrics (AAP)
🍼talk to your pediatrician and see if they have samples.
👶🏻 check local social parenting groups. Other parents may have ideas where to locate formula
🍼buy formula online from pharmacies or trustworthy distributors
👶🏻for most babies, it’s okay to switch to formulas. Most big stores have a generic brand which can be safe. (not for babies on extensively hydrolysis or amino acid based formula)
Do NOT:
💦do not add more water to formula than the recommendations
🍼strongly advise not to give homemade formula
🏈When do you stop taking your teenager to the pediatrician? 🏈
The defines and adolescent from ages 11-21 years old. While your teen may look a little different than the children at the office, your teen requires specialized care from a spilled provider.
Many high school offer “on site” Sport’s physicals. Did you know they are most commonly not performed by nurse practitioners or pediatrician? A chiropractor or physical therapist may perform the exam.
With teen nutrition, mental health, bullying, heart conditions, su***de, & sexual relationships- a pediatric trained provider is best for you teen.

Is there anything better than a sleeping toddler on an airplane✈️ ?
Long trips don’t have to be dreadful. One of my favorite travel hacks is to take an inflatable foot pillow/rest. Kids are able to lay down flat and sleep 😴 comfortably.
