Happpy Kwanzaa!
Love, community, and family- to all who are celebrating, Happy Kwanzaa!
Merry Christmas Eve! 🎄
Tip #4 Don’t Rush.. Easier said than done. However, allowing and planning for more time for your kids to get ready to leave can reduce stress levels in everyone. Try to plan 15-20 extra minutes for kids to get ready.
Tip #5: Always follow through. It’s tempting to let things slide during the holidays. However, if you set rules and expectations you need to follow through. By letting things slide you are sending the message that it is ok to break the rules.
Tip #3: Have a code word. When kids are getting overwhelmed, it is helpful to have a code word to help them know when to calm down or navigate to a quiet area. The children can also use this word to let you know if they need assistance with calming down or if they get overstimulated.
Holiday tip #2. Always have a plan and a back up plan! Plan and be aware of what traditions might trigger behaviors. Knowing these triggers will help you and your family plan for how to respond. Have an escape plan as well, ensure there is a quiet place to escape to if things become over stimulating.
Set behavior expectations for trips and family events. Explain in a timeline fashion what is going to happen and who will be there. Doing this can help kids when something big outside of normal routine is going to happen.

Today we want to shout out Amanda Garner! She has been a great asset to the Suwanne River Region! Her personal and professional experience have been beneficial to so many clients and their families!
"Originally from the Space Coast I became a RBT in 2015 and started working for PBS shortly after in that region. After settling down in Marion county I joined the Suwannee River group. I’ve enjoyed working with individuals of all ages achieve personal goals and assisting families. I am married and have three children of my own, and was drawn to ABA so that I could help other families who may have experienced similar social and developmental obstacles as mine had. I am currently working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education and am working towards a BCBA credential. I enjoy kayaking, reading, and spending time with my family and we have a small hobby farm that includes goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, a donkey and many other little critters that keeps us extra busy 😊❤️"
Help us celebrate Amanda!
