Ukraine War Animals Relief Fund

When the Russians invaded Ukraine, over 12 million people fled the bombs, missiles, landmines and bullets. Unfortuantely, many had to leave their pets behind.

We are helping by sterilizing, vaccinating and microchipping and trying to reunite them. https://linktr.ee/uwarf

I can't believe I leave tomorrow for London to join some truly great animal welfare advocates to watch War Tails. Then to have a panel discussion about how to solve this challenge in Ukraine. It's a mountain of work, but it can be done.

The Independent newspaper gave us prime space and covered our story today, but you need a subscription. If you want a copy of the article, direct message me and I will send you a PDF.

Kal-El Fine and I just went out for our last walk of the night. The evening sky was filled with stars. It made me wonder if any of the alien planets would also have dogs. 🐕 if so, if we landed and got down from our spaceship would they p*e on the rocket steps, sniff Kal’s butt or just bow down to play?

In 2021, An American, a Russian, and a Ukrainian were sitting together on a train. Wanting to impress the others, the American pulls out a gun and throws it out the window.

“What are you doing!?” The others exclaimed.

“Aw, “ says the American, “we’ve got so many guns in America that I didn’t really need that one.”

The Russian thinks on this and then pulls a bottle of expensive Russian vodka from his pocket and throws it out the window.

“What are you doing!?” The others exclaimed.

“Is nothing,” explained the Russian, “we have so many bottles of expensive vodka in Russia that I didn’t really need that one.

The Ukrainian thinks on this and then throws the Russian out the window.

Private Screening: War Tails, a Documentary About Ukrainian Pets 11/03/2024

20 Days in Mariupol won an Oscar last night. I never visited this city, but many friends have to help. What a horrific event and this film captured the horror Russia is imposing on Ukraine and will likely do to other countries if not stopped.

Our documentary about the stray pets impacted by the war will be out soon. We are having a private preview north of Seattle on April 11 at the Edmonds Waterfront Center at 6:30p. We are looking for feedback on our efforts. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/private-screening-war-tails-a-documentary-about-ukrainian-pets-tickets-851611020487?utm-campaign=social&utm-content=attendeeshare&utm-medium=discovery&utm-term=listing&utm-source=cp&aff=ebdsshcopyurl

Dad took me into the vet the other day. She told him that she haed to put me down.

Dad asked, "why, is it because he's old?"

She said, "No, he's heavy."

Animal cruelty law in Ukraine 🇺🇦

Photos from Ukraine War Animals Relief Fund's post 29/10/2023

This has been a LONG mission, but a very successful one. So many people worked their butts off, risked their lives, and did whatever it takes to help the dogs and cats impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. UWARF has been lucky to play a small part in the huge operation that helped over 2,500 animals.

They have been sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with a passport for adoption. A number have already found new homes and I was fortunate to be there to help deliver some of these darlings to their new families. A big thank you to Galina, Dasha, Krystina, Yana, Pasha, Kyrylo, Dyma, Sasha, DogsnHomes, Humane Society International, PAWS, Naturewatch and so many others including all the veterinarians.

Great news from an amazing volunteer in Ukraine running some clinics for us:

Yana Mykolaienko - I want you to know. Several animals from Stavische were taken to families. As soon as they saw my photos on Facebook. I asked to take some photos from the house. As soon as I receive them I will write about it! Do you realize how much you helped these animals? You paid not only for sterilization, vaccine and microchip. You gave them a chance to find a home!💙💛
