Hello Facebook Friends and Family. Meet a few of our key team members for Bring Back Summertime who I have been collaborating with for years and building core production items for our Bring Back Summertime Feature Film. In spite of Detroit's area flooding and flight cancellations the night before most made it to the Meet and Greet hosted by the Hollens Group. With all the remote work, it was rejuvenating to see 'in person' those who I had not seen in years. Dr. ‘J’ was a rare breed of man — a man’s man that other men would want to emulate. A family man, a hardworking businessman, and a teacher who walked the walk before talking the talk inspiring his students to be better men and women because they can. When you walk softly and carry a big stick, everyone within proximity lends an ear to hear what you have to say. Did Dr. ‘J’ miraculously survive the car/truck accident, that sought to claim his life, on his own accord? Or, did God, the angels and saints smile his way and impart formidable life-saving grace for him, his family, and for others to witness that would live on and on forever in our hearts and minds?

He’s in Beaumont Hospital on 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak. Please pick up Mimi for me from gymnastics, while I get ready and then we’ll all go to the hospital together. Instead of a somewhat rational reaction, Robert started screaming, ran out of the house, and was at the hospital long before I got there. But still, I can’t panic. I have to pick up Mimi. I threw on some pants, washed up quickly, and blindly headed for the “Y” to pick up Mimi.

My Bring Back Summertime website is now live after a number of fixes and updates: So, this website starts with my college journey at DePaul University and working part time for the late, great Olympian track star Jesse Owens. It seems like I've had to juggle things all my life, but your never know who the mentors and role models will be that will change the trajectory of your life's journey. Mr. and Mrs. Owens were among the first for me. His beautiful daughter Marlene Owens was Ohio State University's first black Homecoming Queen; I had the opportunity to attend Marlene's wedding back in the day at Lake Meadows in Chicago. https://bringbacksummertime.org/

So why is this lady on the other end of the phone telling me to come to the hospital? "Put on your clothes, Jean, and go,” I told myself. “No, don’t call anyone, because he’s probably all right. As I stand there later watching him fighting for his life, the horrible reality sets in that he’s not all right. Why did they ask me if he wanted a television in his room if they didn’t even know if he was going to live?

My head was clogged and my entire body was still cloaked with fever. Perhaps I was still dreaming. I wasn’t quite over the flu. I had been moving books all day the day before to the basement, breaking down bedrooms, and trying to get a new upstairs guest bedroom in order.
