I was so inspired by my trip to Ireland, not just for the music, but for it's rich history in fiber arts, that I got home, played some guitar, then sat down at a spinning wheel.
Okay, so this picture is actually from a year ago. I do really enjoy working for a great and interesting company and learning about and using their products. It makes coming back to the States easier to be surrounded by so many things related to our trip.

Having fun in the rain with our favorite!

It’s such a joy to share music I love with my daughter. She’s seen Todd perform 5 or 6 times now (mostly solo but has been to Railroad Earth as well). She loves the music and has been excited for a while to go today. Can’t beat dancing together and living the good life.

She was persistent in asking (that I ask) Todd for a picture together and I’m so grateful for his willingness and eagerness to oblige.

It’s April. The St Paddys marathon of gigs with is over this year.
I’ve had a couple weeks of spending more time with the family, which is always fantastic after that run.

Looking forward to writing and recording some more in the near future and working on a modest website and mailing list (natehixson.com should be up soon).

In the meantime, here’s a couple pics of me and some musicians I greatly admire from this years festival in Steamboat.

Oh, and I turn 40 in two days. Pray for me.

Steve and I warmed up before the Greeley parade with by playing our first time at as Deuce O’ The Barley before/during the Denver St Patrick’s Day Parade. We’re looking forward to coming back here. You have to come check out this great spot!

Congratulations to the Finalists of the 2023 UllrGrass Band Contest: Green Chi Band, Juice O'The Barley, Lois and the Lantern, Nordic Daughter, Lost Penny, Tonewood Stringband, Foggy Memory Boys, The Red Hill Rollers and Blue River Grass

Finalists will perform a 3-song set at New Terrain Brewing Co on Thursday January 19, 2023 from 6-9pm in front of a live audience and a panel of judges including Benny "Burle" Galloway and Dango Rose (of Elephant Revival). The event is FREE and open to the public, so come on out to Golden for some UllrGrass Cold IPA and a show. Be sure to arrive early for primo seating!
