County Rep. Seeks Support For Septic System Upgrade Loan Program 12/01/2024

“Replacing septic systems is yet another expense on top of rising grocery bills, mortgages and student loan payments that are increasingly making Cape Cod unlivable for young and working people" Mr. Gessen said. "We need to find a sustainable way to develop loan forgiveness for families in our community that need it the most.”

County Assembly Postpones AquiFund Ordinance 08/09/2023

Addressing our region's wastewater crisis requires unity and leadership across political lines. Giving this proposal until next month should offer commissioners ample time to bring their ideas to the table. 🌐💧

County Assembly Postpones AquiFund Ordinance The fate of an ordinance transferring $5 million into the AquiFund loan program for replacing failed septic systems will not be decided until October.

Falmouth Delegate Wants County To Invest $5 Million In AquiFund 14/08/2023

“No one in our community should ever fear losing their home or falling into insurmountable debt over wastewater infrastructure"

Staying Afloat in the Wastewater Crisis - Dan Gessen 06/08/2023

“The decades-old weaponization of our environment against the working class through poor wastewater policy has backfired tremendously. As a result, in 2023, we find ourselves at the three-way intersection of a worker shortage, a housing crisis, and an environmental catastrophe. As is too common, it’ll be those who can least afford it who will be hit the hardest.”

That’s why I’m proposing a $5 million dollar infusion into the county Aquifund to bolster a resource for all Cape Codders, and create a lifeline for the lowest income homeowners in our region.

Falmouth Select Board Appoints 21-Year-Old To County Assembly 09/04/2022

It's an honor to have been chosen to represent Falmouth in the Assembly of Delegates.
It's a historic moment in Barnstable County. However, the problems we face - wastewater, affordable housing, equitable infrastructure, and access to mental health and addiction treatment - have been around long before our regional government came into the spotlight. It will take hard-work and open minds to make progress on these critical issues.
I look forward to doing my part to guarantee Cape Cod's future.

Falmouth Select Board Appoints 21-Year-Old To County Assembly Falmouth Select Board unanimously voted to appoint 21-year-old Daniel Gessen to the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates at its meeting on Monday, April 4.

In contrast to the current national election, it is refreshing to already have definitive results in the race for the Barnstable Assembly of Delegates, and I want to congratulate Mr. Brown on his victory last night. I am confident he will continue to do a good job representing the interests of our town and our region on a county level.

Without diminishing the victory, however, I want to take the time to thank my community which came out to support me yesterday, and throughout the course of the campaign. Going into this race I knew it was not going to be an easy one. The pandemic hindered our ability to reach voters and I was running against not one, but two individuals who had both name recognition, age, and political experience on their side, having appeared on Falmouth Ballots at least a combined half-dozen times.

I believe this serves to emphasize the importance and impact of last night’s result, the 4,061 people that voted for me did so against all the odds I mentioned. Each one of these votes cast last night was a vote cast not for me, but an informed vote underscoring the importance of the issues I raised over the course of my campaign.

When it comes to our elected officials, we need to bring the focus back to Falmouth and the issues that matter to us locally. Cape Cod is at a crossroads, and the need to address affordable housing, economic opportunity, and our infrastructure will not go away. Guaranteeing a future for the rising generation of Cape Codders will take active and decisive leadership.

I want to thank the 4,061 people, as well as countless supporters across the Cape, who not only agreed with me but had faith in my ability to address these issues. Acknowledging what desperately needs to be done is the first and most vital step in securing our future, and if my campaign showed anything it is that Falmouth is ready for the work that lies ahead of us.

Vote The Entire Ballot - Letter 11/10/2020

"In just the (extremely competitive) 2016 race for county commissioner, which elected Mary Pat Flynn and Ron Beaty, more than 13,614 ballots were left blank, while only 28 votes made the difference between winning and losing in Falmouth"

Vote The Entire Ballot - Letter I turned 20 this year, and this may be one of the most memorable and strangest years of my entire life. 2020 is going to be one for the books.
