The Stephens City Police Dept. wants to remind everyone while having a good time these next few days enjoying Christmas, please don’t drink and drive!

While everyone loves to enjoy holiday parties and celebrations, you should know when to say I’ve had enough and when to call a cab or uber to pick you up or have a designated driver lined up...

Remember, a designated driver doesn’t have to be someone you’re going out with, just ask a friend, family member or neighbor.

You may be surprised how happy they would be to help keep you safe! 😁

Thanksgiving is one of the most beloved holidays of the year. But, it’s also one of the most dangerous!

While everyone loves to visit family and eat turkey, you should also know when to say I’ve had enough and when to call a cab or uber to pick you up or have a designated driver lined up...

Remember, a designated driver doesn’t have to be someone you’re going out with, just ask a friend, family member or neighbor. You may be surprised how happy they would be to help keep you safe! 💖️🦃

If you see one of our officers in their patrol car on Halloween (Monday Oct. 31st) from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm., stop and say hello and get a treat!

Thank a Police Officer Day, also known as National Tell a Police Officer "Thank You" Day, is being observed on Saturday September 17th, 2022! 💖💙

This is a day where people across the country - from small towns to big cities - take a moment and say "thank you" to any police officer they may happen to run across. It's a simple way of showing gratitude for those who serve and protect us. 💖🇺🇸

16/09/2022

Thank you! ✨

Officer Nauman presented Marty Barley, Office Administrator for Stephens City United Methodist Church, a Certificate of Appreciation today for his generous commitment of time and talent to photograph our staff for their official departmental portraits. The Town of Stephens City Police Dept. would like to extend our appreciation to all of those involved in helping make this year’s Sherando Homecoming Parade a safe and successful event!

We had a great turn out and couldn’t have done it without the help of officers and volunteers from the Virginia State Police, Laurel Ridge Community College Police Dept., Stephens City Fire & Rescue, Middletown Police Dept., and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you! - Chief Copp. 😁

Let’s never forget! Take time out of your day to reflect on the bravery of our country during such a traumatic time. Let’s also remember the lives lost, the courageous emergency workers, fire firefighters, people that helped bring down the third plane, and the legacy of rebuilding and resiliency!

Stephens City passes 'long overdue' resolution supporting Ukraine 09/08/2022

Proud moment for Town of Stephens City! As a community we have so many things that we get right! I love that we are intentional on letting people know where we stand when it comes to issues that impact our community and the world! Our Town Council unanimously agreed to to support the resolution!

Find the full Resolution for Support of Ukraine:

Town of Stephens City
Resolution in Support of Ukraine August 2022

WHEREAS:

The United Nations in March of this year overwhelmingly passed a resolution strongly condemning the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and demanding an ending to hostilities. Democracies worldwide that were not beholden to Russia or China have spoken and marked their words with actions to support the nation of Ukraine. Yet the slaughter of innocent people and the destruction of a nation, its schools, hospitals, industries and farms continue unabated.

WHEREAS:

The Town of Stephens City for 264 years has stood for a common love and respect for freedom and the rule of law. The citizens share a determination to protect their right to freedom through democratic institutions. Bearing in mind the importance of maintaining and strengthening peace founded upon freedom, equality, justice, and a respect for human rights, the Town looks to stand with Ukraine.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

In an imperfect world with imperfect people, the citizens of the Town of Stephens City will continue to strive in this little corner of Northwest Virginia to recognize that freedom is precious and sacred, and the Town proclaims it stands with Ukraine.

The Town citizens proudly built a memorial to those citizens who served in our Armed Forces and sacrificed themselves to fight for peace and freedom in two world wars and many other overseas conflicts. This recent memorial in the Town stands as a strong reminder that freedom is not free and people wherever they may live must keep a constant watch for despots.

The Town calls upon its citizens and neighbors to work individually and collectively to press the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States to more fully open its borders to allow American charities to accept and resettle Ukrainian refugees;

The Town recalls efforts of its citizens in the early 1980s that worked on a boycott of companies that did business with apartheid South Africa which spread nationwide and was a large factor in the end of apartheid – each action building upon another. The Town recalls the outpouring of support to West Germany that led to the falling of the Berlin wall, all to promote peace and prosperity across our planet;

The Town calls upon its citizens and neighbors to not financially support companies that support Russia and countries that facilitate the ongoing murder of innocent people in Ukraine and to use its remarkable personal ingenuity to aid our brothers and sisters from Ukraine.

AND IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED:

Until peace comes to Ukraine the Town will display the flag of Ukraine at rotating locations within the Town as a reminder to all that there are always despots who refuse to accept the rule of law and continue their attacks on peace loving countries and Towns such as ours. May peace be with us all someday.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT! ❤️✨

Photos from Councilwoman Tina Stevens's post 03/08/2022

After our council meeting tonight we all headed over to National Night Out at Laurel Ridge Community College. It was so much fun to see families and kiddos enjoying themselves too! Thanks to Town of Middletown VA and Town of Stephens City for sharing their cool fire trucks,
police cars, emergency vehicles, K-9, and we even had the FBI, and specialty helicopter fly in. The kids loved watching it land and getting to tour the inside.

MARTIN'S Food Markets provided amazing cake to match our perfectly grilled hamburgers and hotdogs & our local Route 21 potato chips!
Chief Bill Copp’s wife held things down with the grill! American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Wi******er area came out and shared about their upcoming Out of the Darkness Walk in October!

Thanks to all of our emergency personnel and police officers nationwide for all that they do! ❤️✨

Let's be blunt. Ma*****na doesn’t belong behind the wheel of a vehicle. This Independence Day, and every day, if you’re high, call a sober friend or use a ride share service to get home safely. Drive high, get a DUI.

Thanks for your service of all souls!

Chief Copp made a new friend today and helped this little guy get returned to his home safely! 🥰

We don’t know who needs to hear this, but this is a stop sign. It means come to a complete stop…not a “rolling stop,” not slow down and proceed, not yield, and not close your eyes and hope for the best. It means come to a complete stop.

Read on, if someone you know needs a driver’s education refresher course:
“Octagon (Stop): This eight-sided shape always means stop. You must come to a complete stop at the sign, stop line, pedestrian crosswalk, or curb. Wait for any vehicle or pedestrian to clear the way. At some intersections you’ll find a sign beneath the stop sign that reads “All Way” or “4 Way.” At these intersections, all vehicles on all roads leading into the intersection must stop. If you get to the intersection at the same time as other vehicles, the driver on the left must yield to the driver on the right.”
