Each May, Better Hearing & Speech Month (BHSM) provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of Speech-Language Pathologists in providing life-altering treatment.
Developing strong communication skills is one of the most important elements to socializing and creating relationships. Communicating can be difficult for individuals with speech and/or language disorders, causing frustration and isolation.
A Speech-Language Pathologist helps both children and adults overcome communication obstacles, and this month we will be sharing amazing tips from some of our most respected Speech-Language Pathologists in our industry!
Please help us in our effort, as anyone can celebrate Better Hearing and Speech Month. We encourage you to get involved and feel free to spread our content, as well as, explore our highlighted pages!
By sharing our content, you could help improve the life of someone with a communication disorder.
Since this is Better Speech & Hearing month, please allow me to reintroduce myself… My name is Kayla Gill. I was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where I currently work and reside. I am an avid traveler, first generation business owner and passionate speech-language pathologist.
I love being a speech-language pathologist because I enjoy having the opportunity to help people with the most essential human functions, which is communication and swallowing. Having difficulty in either one or both of these areas can be truly devastating, but being able to help people overcome those difficulties is so gratifying and refuels me daily.
After working in my field for several years and mentoring other speech-language pathologists, my passion and love for therapy continued to blossom. I knew, it was time for me to do more for my community. So, I established Lucid Speech Therapy in 2017, which originally offered speech therapy services to individuals of all ages in the SWLA area. Since then, we have expanded and began offering physical and occupational therapy services as well.
I am so blessed to work with a wonderful group of detail oriented and compassionate therapists, who are committed to seeing our patients reach their highest potential, while fully educating them and their families every step of the way.
Being able to do this daily, makes me truly feel like I am living the dream!
We’re looking to add a couple more amazing therapists to our team! If you know any great occupational therapist, please share this post with them! TIA
