When he wrote it 40 years ago, he interviewed men who had been there, -- on the beaches. Here is the story in English on the website of Ouest-France, the largest newspaper in France. It's amazing to hear the voices of those who lived it.
My own visit to the sites last month was astounding! Happy to help you get there, too.

My Iceland cruise last week included a stop in Torshaven, Faroe Islands. This lovely little outpost in the North Atlantic is a quiet place, so quiet that they have a plaque honoring the spot where the first car (ever!) landed in 1922. I like that that.

Airline cancellation at the airport resulted in a forced overnight in Madrid, en-route to Venice. Venice hotel says "Sorry, Cancellation Penalty applies for cancellation within 72 hours." BUT, the clients have travel insurance. Insurance will cover this loss of the Venice night. With all the airline schedule changes and cancellations these days, everyone should get travel insurance to cover missed nights that are no fault of your own!
