The results are in and I am completely humbled by the level of support I received tonight. Iโ€™d like to thank my opponent for running a honest and clean race, and I hope he finds a way to serve Boone County in the future.

Now the real work begins, I pledge to work every day to earn the trust that Boone County has placed in me today.

Thank you!

Tomorrow is the Day! Everyone please take this opportunity to make your voice heard at the ballot box.

I am the only candidate in this race with the experience to start on day one and a proven history of fighting for conservative candidates and causes. If elected, I will work every day to make sure that the taxpayers of Boone County have fair property assessments and I will fight back against the state when they try to make me raise them unfairly.

Vote Brown for Boone PVA!

Thank you to the Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors for taking the time to hear my vision for the Boone County PVA's office and to the Kentucky Realtors PAC for supporting my campaign.

Unfortunately, I could not make it to the ceremony but my good friend State Senator John Schickel was there to accept on my behalf. John has been a tireless advocate for the taxpayers of Boone County and I hope to follow in his footsteps.

Part of being a good public servant is knowing your community. I have lived and served in this community my entire life and our communityโ€™s history is very important to me. Last year, 17 photo collages of the graduating classes from the old Hebron High School were found in a closet. Along with other members of my family, we were able to have them framed and worked with Conner High School to find a place to display then for the community. This is particularly special for me since I not only graduated from Conner but am the great-grandson of the schoolโ€™s namesake.

As your PVA I will insure that our community history and integrity are preserved. Part of this is making sure that rising home values donโ€™t drive longtime residents into financial hardship and force them to sell their farms and homes to developers if they donโ€™t want to. My office will work with all residents to make sure they have full access to the property tax exemptions they are entitled to. Whether itโ€™s protecting family farms through the agricultural and horticultural exemptions or making sure that every resident over 65 is aware of the homestead exemption, my office will be committed to working with every taxpayer to make sure they are not paying any more taxes than the have to.

Thank you to the Boone County Business Association for holding a candidate forum tonight. Also appreciated my friend State Senator John Schickel for moderating and a great rendition of My Old Kentucky Home by John Stephenson.

When I spoke to the Boone County Republican Party the other day I mentioned that my family has been working to get Republicans elected in Boone County for a long time. Hereโ€™s the proof! The drilling log for our farm well is on the back of a Thomas Dewey for President poster! And for the record, this is from 1944 when he ran against FDR. Iโ€™ll also add that the civil engineer in me is very proud of the detail my great-grandfather put into that well log.

Thank you to the Boone County Republican Party for holding a candidate forum tonight. I enjoyed sharing my vision for the PVAโ€™s office and talking to so many like minded conservatives.

Great night at the St. Paul fish fry and got to see a bunch of old friends.

Thank you State Senator John Schickel for making this happen and a big shout out to my mother Jean Hempfling Scheid for making this her personal project. Long overdue recognition for a local hero!

RESOLUTION WOULD DESIGNATE A PORTION OF KY 8
IN BOONE COUNTY IN MEMORIAM OF EDWARD "EDDIE" BARLOW

FRANKFORT, KY (March 3, 2022) - Sen. John Schickel (R-Union) has introduced Senate Joint Resolution 32. The resolution would direct the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) to designate a portion of KY 8 in Boone County in honor and memory of Specialist Five Edward "Eddie" A. Barlow.

"This resolution will honor an extraordinary man who did extraordinary things," Schickel said. "Boone County is proud to claim Eddie Barlow as a native son, and because of his accomplishments and selfless sacrifices, it's only right that we honor his memory and impact on not just Boone County, but the world."

Eddie's high school friend Jean Hempfling-Scheid has spearheaded the effort with Eddie's fellow schoolmates.

"His schoolmates determined it was time to honor this wartime hero," Schickel said. "I did not know Eddie, but I can tell you that he was loved. I must have received over one-hundred correspondences enthusiastic about this road naming."

Barlow attended Boone County High School, was an all-state center on the football team his senior year, and was later elected into the Boone County High School Hall of Fame. He attended Eastern Kentucky University until he entered the United States Army in 1967.

Barlow was ordered to Vietnam in July 1968. He was assigned to the 366th Aviation Support Detachment, 165th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade and served as a senior tower operator. "The Oasis" was located at Thanh An, about 24 kilometers south-southwest of Pleiku.

Shortly after midnight on Mother's Day, May 11, 1969, The Oasis was attacked by a large enemy force with mortar, rocket, and small arms fire. Barlow courageously ran through the impacting rounds and small arms fire to his position on the perimeter. He then began to direct a deadly hail of fire on the enemy. An enemy sniper tossed several hand gr***des near him and severely wounded him.

Although he was seriously wounded, he bravely continued to fight, constantly placing highly accurate fire into the enemy ranks. He continued this extraordinary heroism until an enemy rocket-propelled gr***de exploded in his bunker, mortally wounding him.

Barlow was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action in connection with military operations involving conflict with a hostile armed force, the Bronze Star for distinguishing himself by outstanding meritorious service in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the "Republic of Vietnam" from July 1968 to May 1969, and the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

Upon enactment of the resolution, KYTC must designate KY 8 in Boone County, from mile-point 7.7 to its intersection with Anderson Ferry, as the "SP5 Edward 'Eddie' A. Barlow Memorial Highway." It must also erect the appropriate signage.

Itโ€™s great to see so many young conservatives (and some of us not so young) come together for a fantastic event. Big thank you to the NKYR leadership for all their hard work!

Thank you to everyone who attended the first annual Goldwater Gala. It was a huge success!

We can't thank our generous sponsors and speakers enough. See you next year!

Big day yesterday! I officially filed for the election with Boone County Clerk Justin Crigler. He and his staff do amazing work securing our elections in Boone County.

In the evening, the Boone County Republican Party started the holiday season off right with a fantastic Christmas Gala featuring speeches from Congressman Thomas Massie and Senator Rand Paul.

It was great to see Senator Paul in Boone County but was even better to see the unbelievable turnout of liberty minded conservatives!

Lita's Tacos, more classic desserts from the Burlington Methodist Church, chatting with friends old and new, and checking out some awesome Lego creations makes for a great Friday night in Boone County!

If you haven't made your way to the fair yet, come see me tomorrow night at the Republican booth.

I'd love to get you set up with stickers, care decals, and fans, and even register you to vote if needed.

Come say hi!๐ŸŽก๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐ŸŽ

I spent another perfect night meeting some great people and enjoying the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the Boone County Fair.

I always have to get a country ham sandwich and a fruit cobbler from the Burlington Methodist Chuch booth. ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿซ

What is your must have food from the fair? Would love to hear what I should try tomorrow night!

What a great Tuesday night at the Boone County Fair!

It was so great to see so many family members and friends enjoying this Boone County tradition, and it was so wonderful meeting new friends and faces.

If you haven't yet, I encourage you to stop by the fair to enjoy all it has to offer. And be sure to stop by the Republican booth, as I'd love to meet you and get you all stocked up on stickers, car decals, and fans to beat the heat. โ˜€๏ธ

Many thanks to John Schickel and Jordan Dallas Turner for indulging a shameless selfie, but more importantly, for their support in my run for PVA.

See you at the fair, Boone County! ๐ŸŽก๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ

Iโ€™m excited to announce that I will be running for Boone County PVA in 2022. This opportunity unexpectedly presented itself when our current PVA announced she would not be seeking reelection. Cindy Martin has done a fantastic job over the last 15 years and, if elected, I look forward to keeping the office on the fiscally conservative path she has blazed. After much consideration and many conversations, it was clear to me that this job was where I could best serve the County I love. This decision was also made easier with the knowledge that there is still a candidate in the County Attorneyโ€™s race whom I consider a friend and who I know will serve the County well if elected. Iโ€™m looking forward to talking to everyone over the next year and am excited for this journey!
