Recently I’ve been getting a reoccurring question from broker partners: what direction do I see the insurance industry going as it relates to health and voluntary (ancillary) benefits?

1. Exposure is increasing and solutions are decreasing. Over the past few years the most common trend I’ve seen is, along with the cost of living, the Deductibles, Copays, and Max Out Of Pockets of health insurance are increasing.

2. Voluntary Benefit Programs and Ancillary Products are the simplest, most affordable, and most effective solution to the unsustainable exposure. Instead of people (and employers) doubling premiums to secure a slight decrease in exposure, attaching a low-costing ancillary product can nearly eliminate it (when done right).

3. Leveraging Tech can make implementation and fulfillment extremely simple. The virtual movement provided through COVID has made education, enrollment, and claims processing nearly seamless when organized and executed correctly.

4. Your competition is providing solutions. Let’s be honest, much like health the P/C world is in a rough spot right now. Whether it’s work-comp or home and auto, rates are increasing and it’s industry-wide. Proactive agencies are making strategic partnerships to provide outside solutions and drive additional revenue streams, and in doing so protecting their books and attracting new clients.

As this trend continues people are looking to employers and brokers for solutions, and the ones prepared are going to see an increase in retention and a more secure book of business.

If you're a business with under 50 employees and are still offering the traditional group health insurance option, this is definitely something to consider.

Many of my group clients have been able to leverage this concept to save their company tens-of-thousands of dollars, avoid annual increases, AND remove the headache of administering the health plan- all while bringing employees a better benefit.

Good things - if you're in that position drop me a line and I can show you what other groups have done 👍

Individual Coverage HRA | ICHRA | BASE® Any size employer looking to offer individual health insurance tax-free, including those wanting to carve out benefits for certain employees (ex. FTE) or other classes. 1-888-386-9680

Awesome news for my HSA clients and friends! The contribution limits for 2024 are getting bumped up to $4,150 for an individual and $8,300 for a family. Not only is this going to be huge for pre-taxing medical expenses, but it also will make for a solid tax-savings avenue come tax time.

Your accountants and financial advisors are going to love it!

This Share The Love Spotlight goes to a family we helped out of Nebraska. This particular family was spending $1,100 each month on their health insurance only.. After connecting with us and evaluating their situation, we were able to move them to a better policy with a lower deductible, included Dental, Vision, and Life for a total of $451, for a savings of almost $650 each month. That’s over $7,700 each year!

We’re extremely happy to be able to help- have fun spending the extra $7,000!

I don’t care where you stand politically, this plays.

I’m being 100% honest in actively stealing this from the guru Mike Mandolfo - Health Insurance Agent

The American Rescue Plan Act passed. Improvements are coming to health insurance. Those who previously earned slightly over the threshold to qualify for a Marketplace cost reducing subsidy "should now" qualify. Subsidies "should" increase for those currently receiving one. Additionally, those who earned too much in 2020 "should not" have to repay their subsidy (premium tax credit).

Will keep you in the loop!
