The moving journey of these is at the center of this story as they speak openly about their aspirations, , and the emotional toll of their fathers’ absence. As they navigate heartbreak, anger, and uncertainty, they reveal a profound wisdom and resilience beyond their years. The film also sheds light on the important father-daughter relationship and the complexities of familial bonds strained by the unforgiving barriers of the criminal justice system. It emphasizes that the foundation of community healing lies within the family unit.
A panel discussion following the screening will include film’s co-Director, Angela Patton, the Founder and CEO of Girls For A Change, and Chad Morris, a social worker featured in the film leading the fathers in a group counseling program focused on responsibility and rehabilitation.

DAUGHTERS, the Winner from 2024's Sundance Film Festival
About This Event
A moving portrait of empathy and forgiveness, Daughters traces an eight-year documentary journey by filmmaker Natalie Rae and social change advocate Angela Patton. The film intimately follows Aubrey, Santana, Raziah, and Ja’Ana as they prepare for a momentous Daddy-Daughter Dance with their incarcerated fathers. Speaking openly about their aspirations, dreams, and the emotional toll of their fathers' absence, compounded by the constraints of virtual visits, these girls reveal profound wisdom and resilience beyond their years. As they navigate heartbreak, anger, and uncertainty, they seize a precious opportunity to forge connections. Daughters sheds light on the complexities of familial bonds strained by the unforgiving barriers of the criminal justice system and emphasizes that the foundation of community healing lies within the family unit.
Daughters was a hit with the audiences at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Festival Favorite Award and the U.S. Documentary Audience Award.
Film Team Present: Co-Director Angela Patton (CEO of Girls for a Change), Impact Producer, Lisa Mazzotta, and Chad Morris, social worker featured in the film.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Elenor Coppola, a great storyteller and dedicated, Oscar-nominated documentarian, wife and mother.
We met her in 2021 at the premiere of Love Is Love Is Love Is and were blown away by her humble demeanor and graciousness.
Her dedication to her husband's stories, her own powerful storytelling are remarkable.
May her memory be a blessing and may her films get the recognition they deserve.
