I think it’s time we realize the detrimental effects worrying has on our body, mind, and soul. Trying to be in control of any and all situations is not only to no avail but will frustrate us and block our blessings. We can ONLY control our thoughts and emotions to the situations we are in. Worrying about the outcomes steals our joy.
Not thinking ourselves into a frenzy or an anxiety attack or depression doesn’t mean we are “checking out” or being naive. We don’t have to solve these problems!! Our Creator already has them worked out. Trust in this.

This incredible woman writes about how a few decades ago, prison populations were so low in the U.S., there was discourse about ending prison construction. All of this changed when the War on Drugs devastated Black communities and quintupled the prison population from the 1970’s to today. A literal war was waged on Black people (read this book to learn of it in it’s entirety). Thank you, Michelle Alexander, for your intensive knowledge and research.

One conversation, an honest exchange of ideas and thoughts can begin to change how people see the world. Because someone does not understand something, they fear it. The fear turns to hatred. We can be the ones to change the narrative. We can be the ones to turn the fear and hatred into understanding and acceptance. Have those uncomfortable conversations.

IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE THIS NARRATIVE. A majority of white culture holds the belief that if Black people and other POC weren’t here or “controlled”, we wouldn’t have these problems in our country today, for example, mass incarceration, rampant drugs, crime, jobs being “stolen”, etc. This thinking is based on untruths. It perpetuates the “us” vs. “them”. We must look inward at our bias, learn and heal, and teach others. We are changing the future. Enlightened Mind Clothing Co.’s Collection launches August 1. Wow! Imagine the difference in our environment, interactions, norms, and policies if white people adopted these assumptions instead of “racism is bad, and I’m not a bad person so I can’t have racial bias”, etc.
