KnowledgeNest MicroSchool
KnowledgeNest Micro-School & More. Trauma informed safe space where nature & nurture meet learning.
A good part of my days is spent introducing and exposing learners to ways to read the cues of their own bodies. And from there make choices based on that information.
When we as the guides remember that all behavior is a form of communication we are able to narrate and walk through the signs and signals their body is giving them. From verbal noises, large motor movements and actions towards others to not knowing what station we want to go to or many more. Their bodies show us all day that they are constantly taking in information and either figuring out where it goes and what to do with it- *working airport * or not- *airport closed*.
A common question they hear from me, after “is your airport working properly?” is “what is your body telling you when you stop and listen to it?”.
Taking some deep breaths and leaning into what they feel, where they feel it, what they might want to try in a safe space to help it, is so necessary.
Options that are offered and always available: 2 lb weighted balls, fidgets and tactile objects, a vibration plate, snacks, items for balancing, breath work, music and movement, connection with me. They’re also always welcome to say they need time alone, a rest, or something deeper and more personal to them.
Time to process what is moving through our body and the ways in which our body responds must be a focus we teach our young humans. 🥰
🎶Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one, when you play
Pay no heed to what they say
Let your eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew all about you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for the right to hold you
From your head down to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Sweet as can be, baby of mine
🎶
This song has always spoken to my heart. 😭
Have you ever known a young human that had the most amazing fire and spirit in them and then you watched it get slowly or swiftly blown out by others?
Did you know that girls in particular, but more and more boys as well, have the highest self esteem they will ever have before the 5th grade and it never again goes back to where it was?
Let’s just let them be little for as long as we can and guide them to listen, learn and love. 💕
*alt caption: stop rushing the good stuff. 🤟🏻
You’re always safe here, friends.
Safe to relax.
Safe to play.
Safe to learn.
Safe to heal.
Safe to work through it.
Safe to use your words.
Safe to learn the words to use.
Safe to love.
Safe to be yourself.
Safe to grow into another version of you.
Safe to take your time.
Safe to walk your own path.
Safe to beat to your own drum.
Safe to rest.

All you need is a book & an adventure is never far behind. 🥰
Families, friends and followers~
We could use some things and we are posting a wishlist here for you. We ask that you first look around your house, yard, garage, etc because we love homey and loved, but there will also be some items with a link to purchase new.
We could use a couple of blankets/throws and comfy pillows/puffs. We could also use some child size comfy seating options and tables, prefering non plastic.
Small bookshelves, shelves and tables assorted sizes, baskets, storage tubs and storage shelving of assorted sizes would also be very useful.
Baby dolls and clothes, blankets and a doll size wooden high chair, Lego bricks and base plates Barbie’s, costumes, child size clothing for assorted dress up, old uniforms for dress up, old restaurant menus, collapsible wooden drying rack.
If you’ve got something that will work, let me know. If you have something and you’re not sure, just send a message.
In the comments there are links to some things we would like new. 🥰
Thank you for your continued support.
On Mondays we taste food 😍
Today we tasted strawberries, bananas and honey mangoes before dehydrating them. Once they’re done with that process we will taste them again and chart the results of both. 🤩
How have you learned today?
🤟🏻
We are so excited to announce that we’ve been nominated for another year of Best in the World. 🥰
You can nominate us through to the next round by continuing to nominate. 😉
YES! Even though we’ve already been nominated, the number of those is what gets us to the next round. 🤩

The littles grow and learn so much each day through these interactions with the bigs.
Some may think that the littles learn more than the bigs even. But I challenge you to think about all the things the bigs learn from the littles.
I’ll start with my personal favorites: WONDER & PATIENCE.
What do you think? 🤟🏻
And just like that, we’ve discovered a love of reading.
Without any pressure or prompting. A year full of rich stories, dissecting stories and creating our own stories. Hearing the words, learning the tricks and tools, being exposed to books and the written word in a multitude of ways. (And a bunch of other stuff).
All on their own, some of them will not stop reading for anything. This is what it means to weave language learning into your day and allow them to progress on their own. Help them find their WHY for reading.
It’s more important to want to learn to read than it is to do it by a certain age. ✌🏻
Happy Mothers Day! Here’s a photo dump for your enjoyment. 🤟🏻
