Adopt Me Today - Hooks Home Bound Rescue 22/02/2022

Honor our Military by donating a Thank you!

We love our Military adopters!

When a Military family (either currently active, retired or ex-military (or immediate family)) wishes to adopt one of our great pets, two things are immediately done:

1) We drop our adoption fee for that pet to the lowest adoption fee we have in our rescue for that animal.

(this means that in some cases the adoption is lowered to half the normal adoption fee)

And

2) We reach out to you, the public, to donate towards that family to lower the new adoption fee and write a thank you note to the family!

(This means your donation can not only lower the adoption fee but ultimately pay it completely for the family)

(All "Thank you" notes will be included in the adoption packet, when adoption is finalized!)

We currently have 1 dog named "Dilley" that is in FTA (foster to adopt) with Military family.

If you would like to send a "Thank you," with us, click here then scroll to "Dilley".

Hooks Home Bound Rescue Newsletter  is for the tow truck drivers who go out daily on calls to rescue those who are in need of help. Many do not make it back home; some end up in the hospitals, physically disabled and some are even killed as other drivers do not observe the National Move Over Slow Down laws. 09/06/2021

Yo Eddy here!
Things are made in the shade with these cats at Hooks Home Bound Rescue. Yesterday I saw this classy chassis, but she poked with a needle a few times. I stood proud as she whispered sweet nothings in my ear. I was told that a clyde out there in the world, gave some bread so I can get these things called shots. Not sure what they do but it gets me ready for some back seat bingo. Gotta burn rubber now, you dig.

09/06/2021

Yesterday our crew was on the road to get shots for some of these babies.. thank you Animal Action League for making the shot process easy and low cost.

Speaking of being on the road let's take a moment to remember all those heros that are on the road 24 hours a day to rescue us.

Hooks need your help to lower the statistic of another Tow Truck operator dying every 6 days. That's right 1 tow truck driver dies every 6 days; This is 5 times more then police. Be their hero and SLOW DOWN MOVE OVER when you see flashing amber lights.

Hooks Home Bound Rescue here folks

As you can see many of these babies have interesting personalities that are starting to come out.. As these personalities come out we have to focus on the whole package for each. So we will allow each of them to post on here and you can ask them questions if you wish. We will only jump in if we have to put any of them in a time out!

You will see us pop in time to time to ensure medical issues are brought to your attention.

Speaking of medical issues here is a list of what we see this far

Macy: was a little under weight when we brought her in, but has bounced back in the last few days. Medically she doesn't show any signs of medical issues (except the possibility of being pregnant)
She would need shots and tested for pregnancy. If test comes back negative her Spay.(currently eating puppy food to help stabilize weight)

Gracie: again a little under weight when we brought her in, she is coming back nicely as well. Medically she was showing a cough every so often but has eased up as we allow her to play in the yard. Medically she would need shots and her Spay.(currently eating puppy food)

Dean even though he is on the older side of the boys. He seems to appear healthy. There is no abnormality that is seen. He would need shots and neuter.(eating puppy food due to sr age)

Frankie is one of the boys who came to us a little under weight. He does have possibilities of Cherry eye at it's 1st stage. He has been so scared still that we have not been able to get a closer look to see if it actually something minor. He would need shots and neuter. (Currently eating puppy food to assist weight)

Dilley came to us at pretty decent weight. She also does not show any major concerns for medical. She would need shots and spay. We currently keep her away from the boys but she loves to play rough with the girls. (She is currently on puppy food to settle her skin/hair tone then will be back on adult food)

Eddy is the most Sr of the group. He has a major concern from the get go of proptosis(bulging eye). Since he is the most concerning he is headed to our vet in am(Animal Medical Hospital San Bernardino) for a consultation. Our vet charges $40 for this consult. He also is showing signs of arthritis, and cataracts in the other eye and teeth concerns (Purely Sr dog aging issues) he will need shots and neuter( if vet determines he will make through the surgery) (he is also on puppy food due to age)

Dana came to us underweight but has been bringing it back on slowly. She shows signs of cherry eye in both eyes. She also shows signs of a tooth concern. Besides being scared these issues don't really bother her. She would need shots and spay when ready. (She is currently on puppy food to help coat, teeth and weight)

Violet (miss priss) is the only one that came with a micro-chip. After calling and speaking with the registered owner they were unable to keep her. She is also the only one spayed. She came to us underweight but appears to be healthy otherwise. We are keeping her on puppy food for the time being to clear up her coat.

Some of you may ask why put them on puppy food? Puppy food is higher in nutrients then adult food.. with this higher nutrient levels we can get nutrients to the skin and coat better to help get the natural shine back. Yes bathing helps but for a beautiful shine you have to not only work outside in but inside out. Also with smaller dogs in the situation they were in it also helps them settle, feel stronger, safer, and healthier as they become adjusted to their new life with us. After about a week in our care we test their coat again to see if the natural shine has come back. If so then we transition them to adult food appropriately. If not, we look deeper to see if they have an unseen medical condition and continue the puppy food.

At the moment we are taking daily reports on fear and comfort levels.
As of dinner time tonight here is the list of fear concerns:
Macy is starting to come to us, but stays at a distance. She will allow us to pick her up.
Gracie is coming to us when we fall to her level and will allow us to pick her up.
Dean hides in the corner but will allow us to pick him up.
Frankie shows severe signs of fear to men. He currently does allow females to slowly pick him up but hides to not pick him up.
Dilley has warmed up to both male and female. She only hides because everyone else is hiding. She does allow us to pick her up.
Eddy will allow us slowly to pick him up, but refrains from coming to us. Originally fear reactive, so he has made great progress.
Dana is a funny sometimes she wants us to hold her sometimes the fear comes back. She does give in to allowing us to pick her up.
Violet is showing severe signs of reactivity to men. She was the most reactive in the rescue but now allows females to slowly pick her up.

Fear reactivity can be brought on by many things. Just the change in house hold could bring on fear or it could be as severe as previous abuse. We treat fear with the slowest respect and highest patience because if you push too hard too fast the dog can be mentally scared. Once fear is handled correctly the dogs own personality will come out and shine. This item is the hardest for most people to adjust to but is the most detrimental to the dog if not handled correctly. Patience and proper communication from handler to dog is key here.

We thank all of you for your support with Little Rescued Hearts from a Hero!

Good night stay safe and stay indoors during this extreme heat warning!

I like my Pickles with a little dill and I love my rescues a little spicy. Come too close and the heat might bite back! Give me some space and watch me salsa. I may be scared now but give me a treat and I will warm up right into your arms, so lets tango.

Here at Hooks Home Bound Rescue I will take two steps forward and one step back (if you get what I mean). Twist this situation around and find a great home just for me.

I will keep cha chaing for Alan E Dilley. Alan passed away from injuries sustained when he was struck in a hit and run by a drunk driver while working an accident scene for the police department.

Apparently Hooks Home Bound Rescue is calling us

"Little Rescued Hearts from a Hero!"

I'm scared but for you I will be brave and become an angel.

04/06/2021

Hi I'm Macy! I am the first one rescued as part of the

"Little Rescued Hearts from a Hero" rescue.

Hooks Home Bound Rescue saved me and others, when our owner/rescuer died while he was away saving more babies like me. Being brought from our rescuer into this new rescue is a lot of adjustment but I am strong and will make it. Yes I am scared but I know this rescue will let me adjust at my own pace.

This rescue says I need my shots, and I need to get spayed. I know I can handle shots but I think there is something going on in my tummy, so they may not be able to spay me just yet.

I hope I love my vet who will check me out soon.

If you want to help me, you can at

www.hhbrescue.com

Did you know I was named after a hero who lost his life saving other?

Curtis A. Macy was a tow truck Driver who lost his life while involved in an accident with a semi truck while driving a wrecker for C & R Towing in Montana. Curtis served in the U.S. Military during Vietnam and received many medals for his bravery.

I was told to let you know that if you wish to donate to me you may do so at https://www.paypal.com/donate?token=utCPW9VixxnB7Fv1yLiIY1HubAuyHy_uixCmS5ONeZV-FU7dfEb6LnwLsTZAhP0sZrdDevP-U3xtg-QW

Lord as a rescuer of your little hearts we ask you to take your kind and forgiving hand over these locations that were worked today to save the lives of the living. Only you know exactly what happened at these locations we ask that you forgive those involved in the death of so many lives. Today we on earth remember Craig Bellinger but we ask you to forgive him of his short comings and we assist those that beg for our help. We ask you to help Craig cross over Rainbow bridge and walk him to your golden gates. This father we ask you to health him and guide us into opening our hearts to continue his passion of saving the lives of those who needs us. We look to those in heaven for guidance as we recover those rescued today. We look at you our father to heal the hurting hearts associated with this loss.. And the strength to take the fear out of the fearful

02/06/2021

On 5-30-21 Hooks Home Bound Rescue received a plea to assist dogs that were left behind when their daddy has passed away while rescuing other.

It was explained to us that Craig Bellinger had passed away in his vehicle while he had 3 fur- babies with him. After police arrived at the vehicle they had called animal control to pick up the fur-babies. Family was able to get these 3 back out of the shelter but there was others left at the home at 2 locations.

On 5-31-21 at 8 am Hooks Home Bound Rescue left the Rescue to meet up with the family at the first location at 10am. At the first location we were able to recover 10 dogs (unfortunately 2 had perished before our arrival).

On 5-31-21 at 2pm 1/2 our team went to the second location and unfortunately arrived to others that had deceased.

After spending done time at the second location the whole team was brought back together at the first location to do final checks and leave the area.

On 5-31-21 at 7pm Hooks Home Bound Rescue arrived at Pet Cremation Center of the Desert to get the deceased cremated and their souls released to cross over Rainbow Bridge..

we had finally made it back to the rescue with those that were living. We had began intake and evaluation

On 6-1-21 the last of the intakes were completed.

Below you will find those that were able to be saved from this unfortunate event and passing of a hero!
