Most of the time, I get to share information to promote my clients' services, products or people. But sometimes - something happens that requires quick thinking and thoughtful responses.

When Reed's Dairy suffered a devastating fire on Jan 18th, we worked quickly to draft a statement regarding the loss of their production facility and the temporary disruption to customers so we could set expectations. We also created info sheets the staff at all six store locations could refer to when customers asked questions - ensuring everyone had consistent, proper messaging.

Social media responses and monitoring was also necessary from the moment the news hit, engaging with customers who were concerned for Reed's Dairy and its people.

And finally, the day after the crisis, we let customers know that stores were open and product was available while supplies last. It resulted in an overflowing wave of support.

PR takes on many forms and this week was a good example of the need to take swift, thoughtful action to ensure good communications.
