Say hello to my pal Braylin!
He may be small but he knows,
"it only gets better from here!"
Vote Matt Adcock for County Mayor!
Why choose Matt Adcock for County Mayor?
What's Different?
If elected as County Mayor, what am I going to do differently than the others? Why should you vote for me? These are easy questions for me to expand upon. Unfortunately, this world has changed for the worse. I possess Christian morals and Conservative values that I believe have become long lost. Implementing these principles that founded our country are instrumental in bringing back the success it once had before. I have demonstrated my efforts many times before as a County Commissioner. I stood up to the leftist agenda that attempted to defund our police department and start an over-watch committee to micromanage our police department. I spearheaded the passing of the second amendment resolution for DeKalb County that told state and federal leaders that DeKalb wants to preserve our rights to bear arms. I have visited our state officials asking for them to stand up for Dekalb and Tennessee as a whole, in protecting our unalienable rights. To protect and preserve the freedoms that generations before us have fought so tirelessly to protect.
Plans of Transparency
I desire a more transparent government for our DeKalb County citizens. The community should have a clear view of where their tax dollars are going. How can that be done? Easy, the county website is a great platform to start posting agendas, budgets, videos of meetings, updated community calendar, and much more. So much can be done to revolutionize our county government. County budgets, expenditures, and revenues should be easily accessible to the public. For those that are not as in touch with technology or do not have access to a computer would always be welcomed to come to my office and receive a print out. I believe we need a projector, and or TVs in the county meeting room facing toward the audience so the community can see the paperwork we are discussing. It should be in the open so the public can see it and follow along accordingly. Total transparency means no room for fault.
Plans of Action
Question: What are you going to do about the roads?
Answer: Ultimately the Road Supervisor has complete authority over the road department therefore, the County Mayor nor the County Commission can tell him how to do his job. Some say can't the commission hold back the funds from the road department if they do not perform the wishes of the commission. The answer is yes, the commission can withhold funding from any department. The County Commission is the funding body of the county government. But let me ask you this. Would withholding money from the road department help the roads? Or would you just be creating another problem? So what is the answer? The answer is communication. The mayor does not hold the Road Supervisor accountable because the Road Supervisor is an elected position by the people. The people hold the Road Supervisor accountable. What can I do as Mayor? I will make strong public recommendations to the Road Supervisor. I will keep him informed of what people are making known to me. I will summon meetings with the Road Supervisor and the public so we can all stay in communication and the community can address our needs. Discuss prioritizing the roads, to get rid of all dirt or gravel roads first before moving on to others. Fix what is more critical first then move on to smaller needs. I can help those proactive conversations start. With everyone working as a team we can achieve the highest expectations.
Question: What are you going to do to help the county employees?
Answer: First off, many of our county employees are from out of county. Even if they all were, they still deserve the convenience of direct deposit. They should have the choice of direct deposit or paper check. It's 2022, why has DeKalb County gotten so behind in the times? You need a leader that is not opposed to change for the better. Someone that is going to move forward in whatever makes DeKalb greater than it was yesterday. Also I would like to revisit health benefits for county employees. I want to make county insurance more affordable for our employees and their families.
Question: What are your plans to help DeKalb County grow?
Answer: I'd love to personally reach out to businesses outside of our county to come make a new home right here in DeKalb County. By bringing in these businesses it will create jobs, and the community will have another business to trade with. We have a lot to offer businesses like lake tourists traffic, low tax rates, and a compatible environment for industrial growth. DeKalb has a lot to offer and I plan on letting that be known to the world.
Question: Do you think you are too young?
Answer: Absolutely not, let me tell you why this is my favorite question. I am 30 years old. I feel like my age actually gives me the upper hand. It is one of my strongest attributes. I have the ambition and drive to do more than this county has ever seen before. I am adjusted to the high demand lifestyle we all live in today. With this ambition and drive, I am willing to go above and beyond what is expected of me. I am of service to the community 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I am up to date with the latest technology and in tune with today's ever evolving atmosphere.
Question: What experience do you have?
Answer: I have been a County Commissioner for four years. I have served on various committees. I am knowledgeable of the county's budget and the tasks that county government are required of. I have taken many county government classes that are offered from the state of Tennessee. I am currently a county employee, which means I have the experience from the bottom of the ladder to the top. I have had a lot of experience with leadership through my job at DeKalb EMS, as a Lieutenant on DeKalb Fire Dept, and many other organizations I have been affiliated with.
Question: What are you going to do about new schools?
Answer: I know first hand the deteriorating conditions of the Smithville Elementary School, from its flooded basement, to its black mold covered air vents. I took a tour of all the schools. The schools are becoming more and more outdated and in poor condition. I believe the school board, city council, and the county commission need to have quarterly meetings to discuss this and any other matters that refer to all these entities. This is a problem that all these groups need to be a part of. We should communicate what is most crucial and devise a plan that takes the best course of action. With high hopes, I believe we could, with mutual effort and funding, build schools without raising taxes.
Question: What are some other goals for our county that you have?
Answer: I would like to keep a "to do list" in the meeting room so every idea is accounted for and every goal is accomplished. It's hard for a group to accomplish any goals if they have some kind of direction and reminder. I want to bring strong leadership to the table so nothing is forgotten and we always stay productive in our meetings. We need a large marker board so us as officials and the public know what we are working on and the steps we are taking in achieving our goals. Also I would like to start a drug free DeKalb County volunteer group. I would have to accept resumes of people interested in heading this group. Getting it established would be the first step in the right direction. Many people, especially youth, have been active in the life of drugs. This active drug lifestyle has become a pandemic in itself. We can start a group that educates the community, and the school on why drugs are bad. This group would also offer support to those that are trying to get off drugs. Time to clean Dekalb County up, and take care of our own. Lastly, I would like to see about getting trade jobs more involved in our schools. Trades like electrician, plumbing, nursing, and other courses that are not offered.
Question: Why do you want to be Mayor?
Answer: In December of 1837, the beautiful and lush DeKalb County became established by the Tennessee State General Assembly. My family were some of the county's earliest settlers dating back to the early 1800s. The stories from my family's elders spoke of the great kindness and compassion that this community has shared since its establishment. A type of kindness and compassion that is instilled into it today. I want to preserve that same great feeling today and for the future. I am passionate about keeping this county the same warm, respectful, loving, and kind community that has lasted centuries while also growing it in all the right ways to adapt with the ever changing society we live in. Protecting the fundamentals of what makes this Dekalb County, Tennessee.

Happy 4th of July! Have a safe and fun Independence Day!
ATTENTION DEKALB COUNTY
Dekalb is in great need of leaders that understand what leadership is all about. Leaders that understand what it is to serve the citizens of this great county we call home. I have dedicated my life to serving the community. As a volunteer firefighter, a volunteer rescue squad member, a volunteer medical first responder, and my occupation as an Advanced EMT for our local county ambulance service. And of course the last four years as district six County Commissioner. Service to my community is in my blood! I may not have been the County Mayor before, so you could say I don’t have experience in the position. But I have experience all the way from the bottom! I have been a citizen here my entire life, I have been a volunteer for many organizations, I have been a county employee, and I have been a County Commissioner. I am aware of the county insurance policy. I see how the decisions of the Mayor and commission ripple out to the community. I feel the negative impact it can have. Who better to serve than the servant? I understand what this county needs because I understand the effects of decision makers!
This county has sat still for too long. We need a leader to push us forward! We need change! We need progress! We need someone going in everyday to make it better than it was yesterday! With early voting starting July 15th and Election Day right around the corner, I would like to encourage you today; if you vote "Matt Adcock for County Mayor" you will not be disappointed! I will fight for what's right! But I urgently need your help to make a difference! I need the citizens of this county to go out and vote! Make your voice be heard in this historical county election!
