As we pause to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., let’s not just think of this as “a day off”. The best way to honor his memory is to take action on something that has been placed on your heart, but that you haven’t had the courage to start yet. Let today be the day.

Mental health and substance abuse issues impact families throughout Shelby County. Too many people don't know where to find help and end up in our justice system. I'm excited to see the new opportunities for services at Central Alabama Wellness. Please go to https://centralalabamawellness.org to learn more and follow their page at Be Well Shelby.

I'm proud of the work being done by Judge Jim Kramer and the Children's Policy Council. ON DAY ONE, I will be ready and willing to assist them in the work they are doing for our children and families. ALL of our judges must be willing to work together in service to the people of Shelby County. I look forward to the opportunity to support and serve.

I have been recognized for my efforts in support of the DEA's Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Forces while serving as a Special Assistant US Attorney in 2014. I understand the level of commitment and dedication required to keep Shelby County safe. No other candidate has worked harder to protect our families and communities.

I am the only candidate who has fought the epidemic of drug and alcohol abuse among our teens. I worked with our community leaders to fight against this rising crisis among our youth. I am proud of this work! I have kept Shelby County Safe. I would like to do that as your District Judge. Vote Alan Miller on March 3rd.

Congratulations to the City of Pelham on the appointment of Pat Cheatwood as your new Police Chief. You absolutely could not have selected a better person for the job. Congratulations, Chief Cheatwood!

I am the only candidate who took the initiative to develop a court to support our veterans. As the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Shelby County I helped create the Veterans Court. As a US Marine, twice deployed, I know the hardships our veterans face. The Veterans Court connects our service men and women to the support they've earned. I'm asking for your vote on March 3rd.

I have kept Shelby County Safe as the Chief Assistant District Attorney. I have put murderers and predators behind bars. No other candidate has kept Shelby County safer over the last decade. I'm asking for your vote on March 3rd.

We said goodbye to our friend Bob Williams today. I want to thank Meredith, John Ryan, and the Welch family for visiting the people in Alabaster and Helena this morning and allowing me to attend Bob's memorial service. It was important.

Bob was a friend and a mentor to me throughout my time at the District Attorney’s Office. Even though Bob and I served on opposite sides and we had a number of professional disagreements, I never saw Bob lose his composure or get angry. In fact, Bob was a tireless encourager. Even when he was on the opposite side of an argument or had been the source of my irritation, Bob would find a way to say an encouraging word before we parted ways for the day.

Bob's encouragement was genuine. After hearing the comments from friends and family at his service today, I had a chance to reflect on the times I’d spent with Bob and the times I had witnessed his interactions with others. He truly was excited about the potential he saw in us. He was excited to see what we would do and what we would become. And he was always there to encourage us.

The hymn Bob selected for his service was Hymn of Promise… a hymn of encouragement. Even as Bob was preparing to leave this life and enter into his new one, his attention was focused on encouraging us. I have no doubt he is looking on now and is just as excited as he can be to see what we will do next and what we will become. We miss you, Bob. Thank you for being there for us.

I remember getting this phone call ten years ago. It changed things for me. There was an innocence lost that I'm not sure we ever fully recover from. I'm thankful for the community that embraces and loves Philip's family.
