This activity is amazing and targets tactile sensory toleration which is huge for so many young kids! The word “desensitization” is daunting but really is a shortened way of saying “building trust with seemingly displeasing sensations to the point of toleration without stress or aversion.” Desensitization, whether tactile or auditory or gravitational based is done in super small steps through sensory based OT. But we are so proud of these Play By Day friends for not going out of their comfort zone, but for growing their comfort zone to include this fun and messy activity!! #playbyday

Not only does this great activity work on object permanence, grasp release, and object manipulation skills…but it also allows the little ones to use those core problem solving skill! I love watching those wheels turn in these situations 💙 #playbyday
