My name is Kavan Hinchey and I lived into my 20s, misguided and reckless. I grew up immersed in a toxic family, drugs, violence, pain, and lawlessness. For most of my life, I wasn't a conscious or aware person. Drug addiction, anger and control issues, and depression/anxiety were only a few of the struggles I've lived through. I was diagnosed with both cancer and bipolar disorder at an early age.

If you feel depressed or anxious, the worst thing you can do is throw your hands up and allow yourself to think that there’s nothing that you can do about it—that it’s just who you are or that you have psychological issues.
I have bipolar disorder—I also know the truth about the biology of belief. My mental health condition is genuinely manageable with these five defenses.
Remember:
Everything you need to be okay is already within you; searching for peace externally is literally disempowering you. By placing your peace on external factors, you are literally ensuring that you are never able to know if or when—or for how long—you will be okay.
